I would like the Gmail client to open when I tap the Email icon on the bar on the bottom the screen (the app the is preinstalled on the Captivate and located in the application list). Currently, the stock application is launched, and since this application is short to worthless, I want the Gmail client to open instead of it so that I don't need to add a short cut to it and at the same time end up with a static button that I will never use.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have read a few posts about somehow intercepting the outgoing SMS.
after some googling i was able to intercept the outgoing SMS by getting the outbox.
Now the problem is that when the SMS comes to outbox i try to delete it at the same time, the API shows that the row was deleted from outbox but it is sent to the desired phone number as well :S.
I was thinking of changing the SMS center number programatically and i didn't get a clue. more over if there is a way the outbound sms can be stopped before being sent.
Are there any Google developer here who built the native non-gmail email client? If so, do you think you could investigate why many users (me included) continue to lose ALL email accounts at least once a week, and sometimes twice a day. it's basically an unusable application that can not be relied upon for anything. nice phones though. iphone never lost my email account settings.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was clearing up some space on my phone so I was removing data from a few apps. Twitter happens to be one and up to that point it worked fine. This is the default twitter app that came with my nexus one and it has all the latest updates.Since that though its not refreshing itself until I press the refresh button and because of that, I think, I get no notifications. I've looked through all the settings and everything looks right. Update interval Is at 5, same as before and syncing is enabled everywhere. But it does nothing until I pressure the refresh button myself. The Gmail client still works perfectly and I get notifications as always when I get an email.I know your probably gonna tell me to get another Twitter client but all I use it for Is reading news so this one has everything I need and a nice simple UI. Plus it came with the phone so I can't uninstall it anyway.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a huge issue with email. I successfully added my Google Apps email account using POP. The client does indeed download the emails, though very slowly, but the main issue I have is that as soon as I manually check for new emails or the Captivate automatically does it (I set it to 15 minutes intervals), all the emails in the inbox on the phone disappears. After much investigating, it turns out that all emails that was already downloaded prior to a reload, were sent to Trash in Gmail. So when I log in online, every message that was originally downloaded to the phone, was now found in Trash. The only workaround I have found in order to keep the emails on the phone, is to delete them instantly. That way they remain in the Deleted Messages until I manually remove them.
So my question is: does the default email client work like it should at all or should I replace it with something. And if so, with what? It's a shame that a new phone such like this have issues with such a basic task.
I love the SMS widget but I never use it because I don't like the default htc/hero sms app. I prefer chomp and sometimes handescent. Is it possible to link the sms widget to another sms app so when I tap on it, it opens another app and not the default one?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using GMail by default on my phone because it allows me to have my mail pushed to me. Receiving works great, but when I tell the phone to send an email such as a picture from the internet while in the browser, it makes me choose between Exchange or a POP account. How can I get it so it uses gmail instead? I tried adding my GMail account as a POP 3 and sending the emails, but I'm not receiving any of them.
BTW, after conditioning my battery for 3 days, I'm currently at 6 hours of awake time and 24 hours of up time, and the sucker still won't die, lol.
My company only allows mobile access to corporate e-mail through WIndows phone. As an Android advocate, i prefer my own mobile device.
My only two choices are to access through my Android Chrome browser or find a way to make my Jelly-bean Android mail app look like it is a Windows phone. ...or a 3rd part mail app that looks like a Windows/windows phone mail client
I prefer the mail client route as it keeps in sync with updates.
Question about Gmail on the Eris Droid.
Has anyone noticed a difference in settings, functionality, or battery life by using the integrated Gmail client as compared to using the Other e-mail which uses an IMAP client??
You set this up at initial startup.
I just synced with app brain and immediately afterwords received about 7 messages saying my credit card was billed. i was able to stop 3 of them. (by the way this was app that i didn't buy, have on my phone, or ever even heard of for that matter) now verizon is telling me that the only way to change the default account is to do a hard reset, which we all know, but then also said that unless i put the original account back on the phone, i wont be able to get the apps that I DID pay for, without buying them again....THAT is bullshit! the apps should be associated with the phone number, not a freaking email account. does anyone know if there is anyways around this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am writing an app that has a consistent code base, but has different resources that make it a new "app". My ant script copies AndroidManifest.xml, res and assets dirs for a particular app prior to kicking off the build. This approach works great if all the apps have the same application package name. However, I want to be able to install more than one app from this common code base, so I must change the application package name. If I change the package names in each AndroidManifest.xml, then R.java gets generated with the new package name. This causes all my references to the resources constants in my common code base to throw an error. It would be great if I could specify the package name I want aapt to use when generating R.java. Does anyone know if this is possible?

My problem is that whenever I go to type 'Yo' in a text, it automatically corrects it to 'To'. I'm guessing that I corrected this myself a while ago and now it has it saved. I already tried adding 'Yo' to my user dictionary but the problem persists. Is there really no way to change the default correction of a word?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way i can make my listactivity (rather listview) highlight the List Item when it is clicked (pressed) upon? (...and remain highlighted) The default behavior, simply highlights the item for a moment, and it gradually fades to black... Currently, the highlighting only happens when we use the DPad... It'd be ideal if atleast one list item is "highlighted" at all times. Worst case scenario, i may have to keep track of the "last clicked item" (by default the first) and change its background or something...but i was hoping there was an easier way...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knew of a way or an app that would allow me to see all my gmail accounts when opening the gmail app.
