Android :: Can Users Still Upgrade Apps After Seller Refunds And Cancellations?

I want to refund a customer's money without restricting their use of the app. Basically I want to give the app to some people for free by refunding their money. Prior to funds being transfered I can "Cancel entire order." After funds have been transfered I can "Refund Some Money." In either, or both, of these scenarios does the customer retain ownership of the app so they can still receive all future updates?

I came from a Moto RZR a few months ago to be an early adopter of the Nexus 1. Soon found that tMobile didn't cut it coverage wise so I returned it. However, I really loved the OS and so I decided to wait for the N1 to come to VZW.Not being able to wait for the N1 I bought an Eris for $10 and signed up for a 2-yr contract. During the couple months or so with the Eris I flashed both leaks. My Eris was working very good indeed with few problems.I then pre-ordered and received the Incredible today. It is a sweet phone however, this is the point I want to make. Once the official 2.1 is available, the Eris is and will continue to be one fine phone. If speed is your cup of tea then upgrade but just realize you'll be able to do the exact same thing on your Eris so think twice before you take the plunge.This is in no way a buyer's remorse statement as I really wanted the speed and it is nice to have everything functioning as it should. I'm sure there will be problems. Remember, the Eris will work just as well in the future minus the speed.

I am available for an annual upgrade on november 9 after. I looked online to make sure i would be able to get the DX on the 15th when it came out. it didn't look like i was able to get a smartphone for the 2 year contract price. so, i called customer service and they said that i am indeed able to upgrade on nov 9 but i'm not eligible for the early upgrade because i am currently a smartphone user.

1. You need a device running Android 4.2 (no root needed).
2. Create a new user as usual (follow the Android tutorial).
2.5. Verify everything is ok for this user.
3. Once done, go into this new user settings (don't switch back to your main/admin account).
4. Add a new account, this time use the Google account on which you paid for your apps.
5. During the add account tutorial, make sure you unselect ALL syncing stuff. Very important!
6. Go to settings / applications and deactivate all the apps you don't want the new user to access (ex: gmail, calendar, etc...).
7. Launch the Google Play Store and select your main account, make sure you protect application purchase by a PIN.
8. Installed a paid apps under this account.
9. Enjoy!
WARNING 1: I had an issue with Google+ when I deactivated it, it removed the updated version (so when I switched back to my main account, I needed to update the app through Play Store). May happen to other apps.
WARNING 2: I don't know if it's related or not, but in the process, I needed to reboot my Nexus 7, it was slow and unresponsive (a process or app was sucking a lot of CPU cycle). But, it did not happened again.
TIP: Use email app instead of gmail to sync the other user mails.
CAVEAT: Experienced users or clever children may find how to reactivate the apps you locked, so you may want tu use an app locker instead of the "deactivate method".
It's not perfect but it works, it's enough for me. My daughters will enjoy their games and I know they will not mess the system. Tested on my Nexus 7 but I'm pretty sure it will work on all Android 4.2 devices.

We want to develop an application which should be the only one our users should use. So we need to PREVENT them using other applications. (Mainly to make the maintenance support possible - we plan to buy at about 1000 phones, so the maintenance is tough task!) Is there any way to restrict the users?
For instance, is ADW Launcher able to do such things? Or is it possible to achieve this by coding our specific replacement of Home Launcher? And what about using some ASE scripts?
I am a beginner to Android OS, please do not assume any specific knowledge in your possible answers.

so im a huge fan of android and especially the Droid X. Im here to help those of you who are newbies to the Droid X or really any Droid. So here are some apps that have really made my Droid X a very great machine:Non-rooted phones: Astro file manager- simple app that lets you take a look into your phone and sd card memory and its free. Beautiful Widgets- a very nice clock widget similar to htc's stock clock but comes with other widget buttons like wifi and bluetooth etc. Costs about $1.50 but i stole my copy. Cherry Rplayer- a free satellite radio app. ChompSMS- a free txt message app that lets you totally customize how u send and read texts. Gtunes- free mp3 search engine where you can search and download music. HistoryEraser- erases history from your browser and even the market place.Yahoo! Mail- if you got Yahoo! this free app will let you know if you have a message in your yahoo! mail like Gmail does.PdaNet- free tethering app to give your computer internet thru your phone. It is free but you can not access private web pages but you can pay a one time fee to unlock all features. Power Control Plus- instead of the lame stock power control widget that came with the phone you can get this for .99 cents or steal for free and customize your own power control widget. Ring droid-free app which lets you customize your music into ringtones. TiKL touch to talk-if your on a strict calling plan get this..its a free walkie talkie type app that will let you talk to friends anywhere for free as long as your friends have it too. Wheres my droid?-if you miss place your phone and have it on silent this free app will make your droid ring untill you find out where its at.Lancher pro- there are tw versions of this home replacement app there is the free launcher pro and the paid version..paid version gives you access to your facebook and twitter on a single widget so you can update your status or post something on your wall all at once. It also has other widgets such as: twitter, facebook, calendar, friends and others. Free version does not have any of that. Now for you out there wanting to root your phone i have only a couple of apps that are really worth the download: Z4root- free rooting app that gives you the choice to temporary root or permanently root with one click. You can even un-root with one click. Droidoverclock- .99cents gets you this great overclocking app that can make your droid x go from 1000mhz(1ghz) to 1450mhz(1.45ghz) or even underclock if you wish. DroidX Bootstrap- $2 app lets you go into recovery mode to install themes and or ROMs. Well i hope i did some good for you newbies who are looking fir good apps to get the best out your droid x's. Recently rooted and now running a MoDaCo 3.1 rom.
So far I have discovered Set CPU, which seems great for saving battery.
Has Anyone else found any decent battery saving root apps that I could apply?
Also, what are your favourite root access apps?
I have rom manager and tried adfree android, but that didn't like editing the hosts file and didn't block the ads I hoped.

I understand the maintenance window is long past, but the Upload Upgrade linky button just disappears when I click it for all my apps. I can upload assets without problem e.g. the new 512x512 icon.

I rooted my 2.1 Desire, YUM! But now my carrier has released 2.2, and I'm having a woeful time upgrading. So questions
A - Is it possible to upgrade to the official 2.2 firmware on a Rooted device
B - If not, can a rooted phone be derouted and then upgraded via FOTA
C - If this is possible, Will my phone data be wiped (ie loose all apps, sms etc)
Re Apps
D - What are the best apps out there to backup apps, settings, SMS and other data?
E - Re the App backup packages, when the apps are restored, will they be recognised in Market for updaes etc?
F - If not, is it possible to backup a lit of apps to automatically/manually restore them from Market.

What's the best way to back up Android phones prior to a complete wipe / re-install of new OS? (back up of sms, apps, data for apps, call log, etc etc...) Early this year it was My Backup, and Astro File manager I believe. Is there something newer or better these days?

Over the last few weeks I tried to download or upgrade apps but it always fails. I always get the message: "Download was unsuccessful please try again". When I go to the android market and look at the help front page there is a link called "Download Issues Troubleshooting page". The fix described in here does not work for my phone.How do I make my phone work properly again.Also, I am on Android 1.6 but I cannot upgrade to 2.2. The PC Companion says that I have an up to date phone.

Just manually upgraded to the 2.1 OTA from stock 1.5. Did a factory reset prior to upgrade. Everything seems to be working fine except that I get this error message when trying to install any app:
Installation error: Insufficient storage available
When I check the phone storage settings I see this:
SD Card: 7.39GB total space - 7.27GB available space
Internal phone storage: 136MB
Also, I'm noticing that the "Format SD Card" option is greyed out.

There are some apps which I don't want to upgrade. Shazaam comes to mind since it is now a paid service.
Others I don't want to upgrade because the current app works for me and the "upgrade" introduces problems.
Is it possible to turn off the upgrade notification for some but not all apps? I don't want to accidentally include an app when I am upgrading others.

I had to unbrick my phone after trying to upgrade to 2.2. I used RSD lite as per the instructions on this site to go back to 2.01. I finally was able to force a 2.2 upgrade, but my apps were gone. Is there a way to retore apps, especially paid ones?

Is there another thread that addresses this issue? If so sorry to take up space. but some apps that i paid for arent appearing on market after flashing the lates 2.1 roms. Raging Thunder game Theres a pt.2 but aso not available. More icons paid Latest swype. to name a few. is there anyone else that has this prob? I emailed an app dev, about this issue and he replied "for some reason your phone doesnt allow you to list copy protected apps after updating." then suggested i contact market/google support. i went to the link and no email. just a link to FAQ. Maybe this supposed 2.1 official from htc leak isnt the %100 complete version. If so oh well, there would be a rom updated for that one as well if thats the case. I am pretty satisfied w/ the currrent build. I think its great.

So I want to upgrade my Droid from the older 2.0.1 build of Pete's Bugless Beast ROM (1.2) to the newer ESE53 based 0.8 version. What I want to know is how to keep all of my data and apps and stuff when I make the upgrade, because according to his instructions you have to use his nandroid backup to go from the older 1.2 BB to the new 0.8 BB. I tried following his instructions once before, and while I was able to successfully upgrade to the newer ROM, I lost all of my apps and data and ended up just restoring from one of my own nandroid backups back to 1.2.

I will upgrade my stock ICS 4.0.3 to JB when that is released to my Samsung S2. But the problem is that I have removed a lot of bloatware on my phone like Game Hub, Music Hub but also the stock-clock (and more) with Titanium Backup. But will that cause a conflict with Jelly Bean when JB is being installed? The system is missing files and apps, and then JB is installed on top of that. Sounds like a setup for problems to me. Tried JB with uninstalled stock-apps on their old ICS?

Had a quick question - Did the update yesterday morning with no issues other than I can not find some of the apps I used prior to the upgrade. I can find them in the market, but when I try to use my phone to download, it can not find them. Note: I used Astro to back up most of my apps on the phone, these couldn't be backed up since they were marked private. And they didn't display in my downloads either after the upgrade. Digital Clock Widget: Silent Time: If I use my friends phone (same version prior to my upgrade), no problem finding these apps. Suggestions? I could always downgrade back to the previous version, but I was having some freezing issues that I hope this upgrade fixed...

I have a Galaxy s4 (i9500) and a linksys cisco e900 router
Recently my isp asked me to upgrade the firmware
Until I updatee my firmware everything was working fine
After the firmware upgrade I am experiencing the following issues:
At the beginning when I conmect to my wifi everything works fine for the first 5 min, all apps work flawlessly, then suddenly my phone only uploads date (up arrow only) but no down arrow n then my apps such as whatsapp, fb messenger, etc do not recieve any data until I goto those apps and stay in there for about a min. Then I get all my whatsapp messages sent about a min ago . But my browser seems fine..and the speed there is good.

I'm working on a project (Foursquare). I pushed a new version to marketplace last night, but it is not showing up in marketplace searches for Evo users. I've read about this happening to other apps, and one major reason seems to be if copy protection is being used (but it is not for the Foursquare app).
Anyone else have an idea why this is happening? Is there a set of permissions Evo doesn't support which may be blocking the app from showing up in marketplace?

I'm implementing ScoreLoop for my game. There is a standard selection widget for the leaderboard type, which lets you refine the scores. By default, I get:
- Global Leaderboard - Your Country Leaderboard - 24h Leaderboard - search_list.nationality_iso3166_1 - search_list.nationality_iso3166_2
What on earth are the last two items? This list seems to come from ScoreLoop, rather than being anything configurable in the xml. I only want the first three in the list, is there anyway I can set this somewhere? I notice that other games that use ScoreLoop (like Jewels for example) only have the first three items also.
