I have looked around for a while and read and re-read posts and don't find my answer.
Is there a way to use "You've got mail" and other sound clips when receiving mail? It is on my sd card but I can't figure out how to use it as a notification.

My environment is:
1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
Wondered what people's thoughts were on the mail apps that come with the phone? I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first setup my Incredible, I signed on to Gmail. Whenever I receive an e-mail, I get two, one Gmail and one HTC. I dragged the HTC mail widget to the recycle bin. Than I went to manage applications and forced stop the HTC mail. This works until I power off the phone. Each time I boot it back up, I need to go to applications and choose forced stop. It is a small pain but still a pain. One is this happening to anyone else and second does anyone have a solution?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a pop e-mail account set up on my incredible to check every 10 minutes for new e-mail, but it never does. the only time it checks for new mail is when I manually launch the mail app. My Gmail account works fine. I will send myself a e-mail from my gmail account to my pop e-mail account (another email address) and that email will not hit my incredible until I manually launch the mail app.

I've synced it with Exchange so I get my gmail as it comes, but when I reply from either the gmail app or my PC, it doesn't appear in my HTC sent mail. I've refreshed and nothing happens. I prefer the HTC layout better than the gmail app and love that I get previews on the widget, but the gmail app works exactly as I need it to. How can I display/sync my sent mail on HTC mail when sending from my PC or gmail app?

I remember getting this with handcent and default text program but easily shut that off. Can't seem to figure it out with mail. Any ideas how to disable the default mail notifications without deleting the account in the default mail app?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running on the HTC EVO and as soon as I got my phone I set up my Gmail account through the automatic setup process. I used android market to get the Gmail widget (the one where the icon has the message coming out of the envelope and it looks like a red 'M'). That was working fine and I was getting my e-mails without any problems.The other day, I was tinkering with settings and I set up the HTC Mail widget, which I (stupidly) linked to the same Gmail account. I started to receive double notifications for my e-mails. I quickly realized I preferred the Gmail widget I was using previously, so I removed my account from the HTC Mail widget.So, my problem is that I no longer receive any notifications from the original Gmail widget when I get new e-mails. In fact, I no longer receive any notifications when I get e-mails. I have gone through all the settings I could find and all notifications are set to update automatically and alert me. The only thing I have not yet done is the account reset because this says I will have to reset my phone to factory settings and I don't want to lose everything I have on it at this point.

It does not do this with my other e-mail app. This is terribly annoying. I don't want a new e-mail of the e-mail I just sent in my inbox every time I send an e-mail. Is it possible to turn this off? My problem is that i am receiving notifications that i have new mail but there is nothing showing in the inbox. I have check my inbox online and yes there is new mail, but it is not showing up on my device. I have also tried deleting the account and re adding it but the same thing happens all over again after a few mins.
I bought a SAMSUNG Galaxy phone and had set up my official mail (yahoo business mail) under E-Mail settings. And I was receiving mails for a week. Now for the last 3 days, no mails are downlaoding and when I click Email, it only shows 'Load More Messages', but on clicking nothing happens. I am think of resetting it, but dont know how to do it. I tried holding the Email and drag it to the Trash, it moves to trash, but reappears. I tried to delete the Yahoo Biz Mail credentials I had given, so as to recreate, but after clearing each field, there is no way you can save it.

When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
I'm new to Android, so this may be silly questions for the seasoned user, but anyway: I'm now using K-9mail for all my e-mail accounts including G mail. I would like to remove my G mail account from the actual G mail app since I am not using it. How do I do that? Also, if I un install the G mail appl itself, how can I get it installed again if I should want to?

I am able to send e-mail from the phone.The funny thing is that if I check my email from my PC and empty any e-mail's that are in my inbox, then try to check for new e-mail's with my DroidX (knowing that there are none) I do not get any errors.The errors only occur when there are e-mails in my inbox.Didn't have any problems with this setup with the incredible.
