Android :: Can't Edit Previous Searches / Fix It

Aug 18, 2010

Android maintains search histories for the Google search widget, market, etc.
but you can't EDIT past searches.

You can't do variations of previous searches by changing or adding a word to the past search.

You can't correct a typo in a previous search..

The only option is to re-type the entire thing, while the phone displays the previous search with the wrong character, but not letting you fix it..

Personally, this is one of the most frustrating things about Android.

Google is all about searching, but they certainly got it wrong with Android's built-in search..

Android :: Way To Edit Previous Searches On Droid Phones Without Trackpad?

Jun 23, 2010

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit previous searches on android phones without the trackpad/d-pad. If you pull up a previous search in the quick search box, you have the option to select it. Once you select it, it will immediately begin searching but it will not give you the option to edit your previous search parameters? Any workarounds?

Android :: Edit Past Market Searches?

Jun 25, 2010

Type some long market search, and misspell it, search fails. Now, there it sits in the history, with ONE letter bad, but you can only do the same, incorrect search again by tapping it.Am I missing something, or is it true that I have to enter the whole thing over again if I miss one letter. Same applies to variations on searches, such as "red truckload of elephants" and "blue truckload of elephants" No way to go back and just change red to blue.

Jan 16, 2013

I want to be able to sync Google searches done on my laptop to my phone. So if I search for best places to eat in Washington DC with my laptop using chrome, I want it to appear in the recent search results history when I open the Google search app. Is this possible?

Right now, when I open the Google search app it only shows the history of searches done on my phone. I have gone into the settings of search and selected show recent search history, but it still only shows searches done from my phone.

I have a verizon galaxy s3 running jellybean 4.1.

HTC EVO 4G :: Sprint Navigation Not Working With Google Searches

Jun 10, 2010

This phone has a great feature that i wish I had on my Pre. After searching for something in google it allows you to search for it with Sprint Navigation. Problem is that when I hit Sprint Nav it says the destination is "null" and I still have to manually type it all out which sucks for driving. In "maps" the destination address is already filled in. Is there a way to fix this or a setting needed to have the address input automatically in sprint nav?

General :: Google Searches Phone By First Letter Only?

Dec 29, 2013

I have an HTC One running CM 10.2 (which is essentially Android 4.3)

I recently noticed some annoying behavior: I wanted to find the AT&T app on my phone, so I typed the letters "at" into the home screen search bar. No apps appeared. I was surprised, so I searched through the app drawer and found the app that I needed. It's name is "myAT&T". I then discovered that if I type the letters "my" into the home screen search bar, the app will appear. The bottom line is that the Android search bar only searches for apps, contacts, etc., by the first letter. I also noticed the same behavior in the browser with regard to bookmarks.

Android :: Android Edit Text Class Appearing Without Edit Box

Nov 17, 2010

I am doing a custom edit box class. It starts something like: public class Amount Field extends Edit Text and has over riden the constructor to implement the Edit Text widget style However when I implement this on my XML I get an editable Text View instead of the Edit Text (there is only text but not the surrounding white box) and also when I click on it nothing happens, only text color changes. Are there any ideas on why this happens? I've done list components the same way and style is not altered.

General :: Google Chrome Always Saves Searches - Cannot Turn It Off?

Oct 6, 2013

I am trying to stop Google Chrome from saving my searches. I have already done the following:

1. On Google home page, click "Settings-->Search settings".

2. Towards the bottom of the page, click "search history".

3. Click "Turn Web History off".

Now, when I search on my desktop, the searches are not saved. However, if I do a Google search from my phone through Google Chrome, the search will be saved. The search will not be saved if I do the search through the stock browser. I don't know how to stop this from happening. Is it something to do with Google Now maybe?

I am using a HTC Butterfly S 901s, running Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.

General :: Google Search No Longer Searches Phone By Default

Jan 6, 2013

I have a number of applications on my phone that are just search plugins. (Searchify, for example.) At some point before 4.2, they "stopped working". I've come to discover that they still work fine if, after doing an initial search and pressing enter or selecting a suggestion, you scroll the bottom bar all the way to the right and select "Phone".

To preempt some questions: the initial screen's suggestions do include applications I can run, just not searching "inside" applications. I have verified that the applications I want to search inside are enabled in the search settings. I have disabled Google Now, but I've tried reenabling it, with no improvement in results.

Android :: App Opens Previous Activity / Only Intermittently

Jul 24, 2009

This is an intermittent bug in one of my apps. I don't expect anyone to solve it immediately, but I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to start debugging! So, my app lets users edit an item (in the EditPage activity). When they press the Back key, the desired behaviour is that it saves their edits and returns them to the home page (the HomeList activity). The code for this is below. It works fine. Except. The bug is this. Some users report that sometimes when they reopen the application after a pause, they are seeing *not* the home page, where they left the application - but the previous edit activity. Crucially, they are also seeing the edit activity without their saved edits - effectively losing their most recent edits.I've been able to reproduce this myself. It only happens after the application hasn't been opened for a while. If I save something, minimize the application and reopen it straight away, it shows the HomeList activity just fine, and the edits have all been saved. But if I save something, leave it for a couple of hours and then reopen it, it shows the previous EditPage activity, without the saved edits (i.e. in the state that the EditPage activity was previously launched).

Any ideas, anyone? I had wondered whether it was due to the Back button being used to return the user to the HomeList activity - maybe Android thinks that the Back button means that the HomeList is not the most "recent" activity, instead the EditPage is. I'd like to carry on using the Back button if possible, though. And in particular, I'm puzzled why it only happens after the app has been idle for an hour or so, and not immediately? Is it something to do with Android's memory management?
