View 5 Replies View RelatedAndroid maintains search histories for the Google search widget, market, etc.
but you can't EDIT past searches.
You can't do variations of previous searches by changing or adding a word to the past search.
You can't correct a typo in a previous search..
The only option is to re-type the entire thing, while the phone displays the previous search with the wrong character, but not letting you fix it..
Personally, this is one of the most frustrating things about Android.
Google is all about searching, but they certainly got it wrong with Android's built-in search..
Type some long market search, and misspell it, search fails. Now, there it sits in the history, with ONE letter bad, but you can only do the same, incorrect search again by tapping it.Am I missing something, or is it true that I have to enter the whole thing over again if I miss one letter. Same applies to variations on searches, such as "red truckload of elephants" and "blue truckload of elephants" No way to go back and just change red to blue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there is a way to edit previous searches on android phones without the trackpad/d-pad. If you pull up a previous search in the quick search box, you have the option to select it. Once you select it, it will immediately begin searching but it will not give you the option to edit your previous search parameters? Any workarounds?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to sync Google searches done on my laptop to my phone. So if I search for best places to eat in Washington DC with my laptop using chrome, I want it to appear in the recent search results history when I open the Google search app. Is this possible?
Right now, when I open the Google search app it only shows the history of searches done on my phone. I have gone into the settings of search and selected show recent search history, but it still only shows searches done from my phone.

This phone has a great feature that i wish I had on my Pre. After searching for something in google it allows you to search for it with Sprint Navigation. Problem is that when I hit Sprint Nav it says the destination is "null" and I still have to manually type it all out which sucks for driving. In "maps" the destination address is already filled in. Is there a way to fix this or a setting needed to have the address input automatically in sprint nav?

I recently noticed some annoying behavior: I wanted to find the AT&T app on my phone, so I typed the letters "at" into the home screen search bar. No apps appeared. I was surprised, so I searched through the app drawer and found the app that I needed. It's name is "myAT&T". I then discovered that if I type the letters "my" into the home screen search bar, the app will appear. The bottom line is that the Android search bar only searches for apps, contacts, etc., by the first letter. I also noticed the same behavior in the browser with regard to bookmarks.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to stop Google Chrome from saving my searches. I have already done the following:
1. On Google home page, click "Settings-->Search settings".
2. Towards the bottom of the page, click "search history".
3. Click "Turn Web History off".
Now, when I search on my desktop, the searches are not saved. However, if I do a Google search from my phone through Google Chrome, the search will be saved. The search will not be saved if I do the search through the stock browser. I don't know how to stop this from happening. Is it something to do with Google Now maybe?
I am using a HTC Butterfly S 901s, running Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.
I type in "ducks without feathers" on my work or home pc and that same search shows up on my galaxy s3 a little while later. Im connected to a wireless network on both and signed in to google on all 3. Is this why? Does it work the opposite where things written on the phone show up on the computers? I find this invasive if i want to search something in private but it shows on my work pc?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a BOGO with my wife for the Facinate. I switch from a fully rooted/ROMed Incredible. On both our phones, the Market loads and searches VERY slow on WiFi and 3G. My Incrediable loads/searches almost instantly while the Fasinate takes...3, 4, 5,..., 10secs at times. Downloads are slow too.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a number of applications on my phone that are just search plugins. (Searchify, for example.) At some point before 4.2, they "stopped working". I've come to discover that they still work fine if, after doing an initial search and pressing enter or selecting a suggestion, you scroll the bottom bar all the way to the right and select "Phone".
To preempt some questions: the initial screen's suggestions do include applications I can run, just not searching "inside" applications. I have verified that the applications I want to search inside are enabled in the search settings. I have disabled Google Now, but I've tried reenabling it, with no improvement in results.
how to make my Google search app list my most recent searches. This used to happen automatically on my old phone, but not on my new phone.
Now when I open Google search all I get is a blank search bar with nothing underneath.
Quite often we meet a new person, and we want to get each other's phone number. Back when I had my old non-smartphone it was easy, I enter the number press a button and there's an option to save it as new contact, I don't even need to enter a name till later.
I have a HTC Desire running Android 2.2, what's the best way to quickly record a phone number?
I always found it frustrating when someone asks for my number, I begin to say it then they go "wait wait hang on", while they fiddle with the menus to add a new contact. Now it seems I'm on the same boat!
While playing with my phone the other day I realised a way of adding application shortcuts a faster way to the home screen then holding a blank space, choosing shortcuts, applications then selecting. Open your apps list and just tap and hold an app, it then pops to the homescreen so you can add the shortcut. Found this much quicker than waiting for the apps list to load everytime.

When I run my app, it works fine but if I switch back to home or another application, I want to go back to my app quickly by using the recent activity list (on my phone this is done by holding down the home button). For whatever reason, I never see my application in this list of apps. All other apps when they are running or have just recently been closed show up ( the menu shows 6 icons for the recent apps). Why doesn't my app show up on this list? Is this something you need to do programmatically?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a HTC Wildfire and in the last couple of days the battery has started draining really quickly. Usually I could leave my phone overnight with wifi and mobile web etc switched off and the battery would drain by a maximum of a couple of percent but now it's losing 25% of its charge overnight with nothing running. Looking at the battery usages since unplugged 3% is phone idle, 4% cell standby and 93% maps!! I haven't even used the maps for a couple of days so what could be causing this? The only apps I've downloaded in the last couple of days are WordUp!, Air Control Lite and Shopping List manager.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to write a free mobile app that would make payments merchant-agnostic for the customer. Context: Most web-apps are merchant centric and allow for multiple payment types from the customer. But the problem I'm trying to additionally solve is to have, say, a mobile app that is capable of paying as many merchants as possible using your debit, credit or PayPal account. It shouldn't rely on per-merchant technical partnerships to work. It should just be able to talk to any merchant after writing the upfront code. There are a few solutions that come to mind: Integrate with VISA, Mastercard, or PayPal. However, my goal is to integrate with stores that sometimes only take debit, sometimes only VISA, sometimes only PayPal, etc, while re-inventing the wheel as little as possible. I'm wondering if anybody has already solved a problem like this before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer about 14,000 SMS from an unrooted 2.3.5 Android to a rooted 4.2.1 Android phone.
MyBackup Pro backs them up quickly, but restores them at a rate of less than 1/second. Thus, I have been looking for another tool to back up with:
1. Titanium Backup: no, as the 2.3.5 phone is unrooted;
2. new Windows-based Ultimate Backup Tool: no, as it requires Android 4.0 or greater.
Any recommendations, other than running the restore tool all night? A tool that allowed me to back the SMS up in chronological blocks could be very useful.
