There is NDK also, but as I can see it is just something like JNI for Java. Is it mandatory to learn Java or to have deep knowledge in Java then try Android SDK, or it would be possible to learn Java while developing for Android.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to query a root view of an activity for all of its child views even before the root view or its children have been inflated? I guess what I'm looking for is whether a view knows ahead of time what children it will have before it gets inflated, and can I get that list in some way. Bizarre I realize, but I think it will help me with some unconventional automation testing I'm working on. I haven't found anything in the API like this.

I'm only seeing icons/widgets in all the reviews. The phone I'll be getting will be the EVO 4G. Also, how well does Google Voice implement into Android, is it possible to have an option to either call from my regular cell number or from google voice without going through an app or the website?

Take this for what it's worth since you're hearing it from me, and not an official link. I understand I could be completely making this up, but I only come here to hopefully give you, my fellow BH2 owners out there something to look forward to. While in TMobile today, I was chatting with the manager who helped me decide on the BH2. It just so happened that his Samsung rep had just left and gave him some good news.
Originally, I thought he had told me the BH2 would be going from 1.5 to 2.x, however, the BH2 has two upcoming changes.
First, we will be getting a minor change to fix the battery issues. The battery indicator will be more accurate, and they will be adjusting some software issues to increase the battery life. Great news. This should be very soon since the reps recently got the email.
Second, and no later than two months away, we will be getting 1.6. Not 2.0 or 2.1. 1.6 is apparently the most stable Android software out there at the moment, which is why 2.1 is still a ways out. Don't expect to ever see 2.0 on your BH2 because 2.0 is terrible software and Tmobile has no intentions of pushing that on their phones. 2.1 will most likely come after 1.6.
This is according to a Samsung rep who received an email from his superiors. Take it for what it's worth, but I am looking forward to the BH2 future. Now BH2 owners will have the best Android phone with stable software. Can't wait!
The native calendar widget doesn't display the current days events only the upcoming ones. Is there a way to change this or a different calendar app that is better?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have read up a lot about rooting my phone, and I think I might give it a go, mainly to get rid of some of the bloatware on the sprint hero, and also for the apps2sd capability. My question is however, how will this effect my ability to update to android 2.1 in the first half of next year. Will I have to wait for a custom ROM to be made or will i be able to update as normal?

View 49 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx with an unlimited data plan and I use FoxFi all the time and love it. On FoxFi's (now PDANet) site it states that Android version 4.1 and later is NOT SUPPORTED on Motorola. Their recommendation is "Do not update to Jelly Bean." I understand that this update is going to be pushed to us sometime soon. In the past, my updates have installed automatically without any approval required. I cannot find a setting anywhere to make it stop and ask first. Is there such a setting? Is there a way I can refuse to accept the Jelly Bean upgrade?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to open a dialog window, but every time I try to open it it throws this exception:
CODE:.................
I'm creating it by calling showDialog with the display's id. The onCreateDialog handler logs fine and I can step through it without an issue, but I've attached it since it seems like I'm missing something:
CODE:............
Is there something missing from this? Some questions have talked about having this problem when creating a dialog from onCreate, which happen because the activity isn't created yet, but this is coming from a call from a menu object, and the appContext variable seems like it is correctly populated in the debugger.
I'm writing an application which connects to a back office site. The backoffice site contains a whole slew of JavaScript functions, at least 100 times the average site. Unfortunately it does not load them, and causes much of the functionality to not work properly. So I am running a test. I put a page out on my server which loads the FireBugLite javascript text. Its a lot of javascript and perfect to test and see if the Android WebView will load it. The WebView loads nothing, but the browser loads the Firebug Icon. What on earth would make the difference, why can it run in the browser and not in my WebView? Any suggestions.
More background information, in order to get the stinking backoffice application available on a Droid (or any other platform except windows) I needed to trick the bakcoffice application to believe what's accessing the website is Internet Explorer. I do this by modifying the WebView User Agent.Also for this application I've slimmed my landing page, so I could give you the source to offer me aid. package ksc.myKMB;
