Does anyone know of any apps that can disable the camera? My work does not allow camera phones.
My camera stopped working. When I click my camera application I get the message "The application camera (process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". It's just a blank screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy eris is on the way to my house and I should get it in a few days. Im going to root it. I got this phone for work to replace my blackberry that sucks and dont have a camera. Worst case I will remove the camera or drill it out.Before I would do that though I was wondering if I could actually remove a system app such as the camera and video camera. What would be best is if there was a way to disable the driver for the camera so it wouldnt even work with other apps like bar code scanner ect. The reason I want to do it this way is because it would be reversible in the future if I wanted to sale the phone, but wouldnt be something they would consider reversible at work.Basically if I give the phone to safety/security and they cant get it to take a picture in 10 mins or so it will pass the test.
does anyone have any insite on what would need done? Would it be like removing a system app? would the kernel or radio need altered? If I decided which rom I wanted to use could someone (or even the dev that made the rom) remove the camera?I really dont want it to work for any apps like goggles or any of the aftermarket camera apps on the market because if security decided to download a camera app on the market and try it out.
The one thing I can't figure out is how to disable the shutter sound when I snap a pic.Anyone know how to turn it off?

This is just to insure that people don't end up bringing them home, loading a bunch of games on it and bringing it back to work. Its strictly going to be for PDF files and Pictures of configuration stuff. I was wondering if there was a Device administrator apk out there where I can just select these options to disable. I know my way around android as with rooting and what not, but when it comes to dev I am completely clueless.

Is there any way to disable shutter sound in builtin camera app?
In folder "system/media/audio/camera/" change name of "cam_snap_0.ogg" and it's done.
I renamed folder name "camera" and by this way disabled any camera sounds witch was useless for me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a general guideline for application developers about when to disable haptic responses? I know there are ways to enable/disable long-press haptics, but if an application was created to use haptic feedback for other events are there guidelines that application developers should follow? For example, if the user was to go into Settings->Sound & display -> Haptic and set that to OFF, should all applications refer to this setting as a rule of thumb?
From and end user point of view, I would like to have global control of haptic feedback especially if I find it to be annoying. I have seen several postings in the android forums looking for a "global override" to haptic responses. Ultimately, I think it is a question of should each application provide a menu to enable/disable haptic support, or should this be more of a global Setting for the device.
I personally feel applications should refer to the global setting, but would like to get feedback from other developers about this. Reference postings I was referring to: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-general-discussions/6812-hapti... http://androidforums.com/samsung-moment/13633-how-do-you-disable-vibr.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHello everyone. Is there a feature or a check box that I am missing that allows you to turn off the little text labels beneath the application icons on the home screen? I'm kind of doubtful, but a search did not return an answer. It would certainly clean up the home screen. Plus a lot of labels are "cut off" due to length and that is just annoying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to write an application that uses the Camera App to take a picture. So far, the only thing I've been able to get back successfully is a tiny bitmap picture. I've found several other posts related to this topic that have code that is reported to work, but it does not work for me. I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. Below is the code I am using currently, but it causes the application to blow up.
private void takePicture(final int x, final int y, String description) {
// create a file on the SD card
File file = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(),
"tmp_" + String.valueOf(System.currentTimeMillis()) + ".jpg");
// Create the URI that tells the camera where to put the picture.
mOutputFileUri = Uri.fromFile(file);
statusLine.setText("URI => " + mOutputFileUri);
mIntent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE)
.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, mOutputFileUri)
.putExtra(PIC_X, x) // x coordinate of square
.putExtra(PIC_Y, y) // y coordinate of square
.putExtra(PIC_DESCRIP,description)
.putExtra("return-data", true) ;
startActivityForResult(mIntent, PIC_FROM_CAMERA);
}
Ultimately, I want to be able to get the picture back and do two things with it: create a 64x64 icon that is displayed by the Android application, and upload the picture to a web application. I'm running this on the emulator using Android 2.0
