Do you know of any app (exactly like PicMe Screen Grabber) that I can display my phone on my desktop for an unrooted phone?
I seen to have a problem installing and updating pretty much all apps from the market. I am running anbranded and unrooted desire on 2.2. I have successfully downloaded nearly 50 apps from the market but recently it doesn't seem to install any apps including updates. I did find one that was ok (retro camera which I tried just to see) but it wont update sppedview, folder organizer lite or quick system info pro. It also doesn't seem to want to let me install quite a few other apps that I have tried (some alarm apps and some poker ones).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought I remember seeing a thread about this, but couldnt find it. got a new replacement from sprint a few weeks ago. Ever since, the internet (3g) is horribly slow. Speed tests confirm the 3g will not get above 200kbps ever, no matter where I am. So obviously, I know this is a hardware problem, as sprint has already refreshed my network, and made me do a hard reset. They want me to take it into a store so they can "check it out" before they send me a new one. Problem is, I'm rooted. I used unrevoked, and am still on the stock rom, so it should look normal. The only thing I rooted for is to be able to use wireless tether. So the question is, can I just remove the superuser app and wireless tether temporarily while they check it out? Or should (can) I flash S-on first too? I know how to unroot, but I really dont want to have to spend a few hours re-installing all my apps and settings after.

To me, the stock music app isn't that great. I am looking for a music app for playing music on your phone, not streaming.

View 42 Replies View RelatedI had a Nexus S. Got some games and got pretty far in them. I did not root the phone. Now I have an N4. I want to pick up where I left off on the new phone with regards to the games.. let's say, They Need To Be Fed as an example.
Now, neither phone is rooted, so obviously this complicates things, but it is not impossible. I can easily use Carbon to backup my app data and restore it onto the new phone without requiring a root. However I want to explore alternative methods.
So in a perfect situation, I would like the app data (and/or the app itself) to be backed up into one nice file that can be saved onto the new phone and then opened up to put the saved data where it needs to be. I'm not sure, but do .apk's contain app data as well? Could I save my current progress on TNTBF along with the app itself into a .apk and then extract the file on my new phone to continue where I left off?
What Carbon does is create a folder specific for the app and its data, which is a bunch of files I'm not familiar with, and requires Carbon to restore the data itself. Although this app is phenomenal and will be my last resort, I'd like something that doesn't require the app itself to restore the data. I used to use something called Ultimate Backup I think. When I selected to backup an app, it would save a .apk to the sd card. I'm not sure if it was backing up just the app or the app data as well, but if it did save the app data then that would be optimal.
good music streaming app? Don't say panadora tried it and just get pissed everytime because I can never find a song I want and it always plays random shit I don't want.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI finally have hardware working the way I like it at home (stereo inputs), at the office and gym (bluetooth headphones), and in the car (aux input or bluetooth to head unit). Now I'm ready to pay for an ad free music streaming app. The problem is deciding which one to get. I've messed around with the free versions of Pandora, Slacker and TuneWiki as well as FlyCast for streaming FM stations. I'm not crazy about the latter two as I prefer to create a customized "station" that plays exactly the music I'm in the mood for. I've also used Grooveshark on the computer, but I have no idea how good the Android app is without a Lite version to test.
Pandora, Slacker and Grooveshark charge roughly $3/month for ad-free music. I'm curious to know what others think about the various services, or one I have not mentioned. I don't mind paying for a good app, but I can't justify paying for all of them when one should suffice. So what's your preference? A reason besides "It's the best" would be an added bonus.
When I pair my sprint htc hero to my car stereo, it always opens the default music player and starts playing a song. Can I prevent this from happening? I generally want to listen to pandora - and not my mp3's. Most annoying part is that the mp3's play simultaneously with pandora until I manually open that music app and pause the music.
There must be a way to either turn off the default action or to plug another program name into that defautl.
When the 2.1 update does come out, if I decide that I want to check it out and revert back to the stock 1.5, is that what nandroid is? All I would have to do is reboot, pick the nandroid file and go back to 1.5? Also, if I do revert back to 1.5 will the phone be unrooted as well? Forgive me if these questions seem nooby like but to this forum, I am a bit of a noob. If you don't ask you don't know.

I'm looking for some "streaming application" that will allow me to watch any of these movies on my phone over the internet.
Is there such a thing? I know I have to have a dedicated computer (gateway) to access the movies, but after searching Google for the past hour, I've given up.
The only thing I can find is Orb, but the reviews aren't the greatest.
Has anyone done this successfully, and willing to share how they did it?
I have an app that I designed for Iphone and Ipad, and am now porting it over to android. It streams high quality video files and I am having a great deal of trouble getting the files to stream in android. I have seen the file stream on a motorola phone at the ATT store, but have had trouble with an android phone on tmobile, and verizon. The files are MP4 files, encoded in quicktime using H.264, and saved as quicktimes. I then open them in MPEG streamclip, and save them as MP4s. The reason is that I can get higher quality at lower bit rates and smaller file sizes using this way. I am encoding at 720 x 400, using a bit rate of 800k per second. These work perfectly in the iphone environment but I have had limited success in the android world.
Here is a link to a file if you are interested in investigating further:

Does android run differently on different service carriers? Is this a hardware limitation on different phones? My question is this. Can anyone verify that there is a problem with my files? And can anyone tell me what I need to do to get my video files to play more predictably on the android platform?
I'd like to be able to keep tabs on my dogs while I'm away. Ideally, I picture an app running on my PC that can stream audio to my cell, when I run an app on my cell. Any ideas around this? And there can be monkeys in the middle (PC to webpage to phone).
