Android :: App For Watching Free Streaming Tv On Phone?
Feb 10, 2010
I watch alot of foreign tv from sites like South Korea - Watch free live TV . I was wondering if theres any app for android ( i have a samsung galaxy) that lets you watch such links. Most of these are
mms:// addresses linked to streaming videos. like : mms://118.46.233.19/tvs
I have yxflash app installed on my phone. It loads the links but the video freezes after 1 second. Are there any other apps that work?

Not yet got my new Desire but I've watched several youtube clips showing fast and smooth browsing performance; I'm guessing these clips were showing phones connected over wifi. What's the browsing experience like on normal 3g when out and about? Is watching streaming video feasible for example?

Is the HTC Incredible capable of watching streaming video? For example, full FOX episodes, like Family Guy and such? Or is there an app for it?

Seeing as 2.1 doesn't play Flash what are some alternatives for free streaming movies? Ive tried Divx however 2.1 doesn't support that either. I use to use Stagevu, a similar website would be great!
I tried Veoh however finding a full length movie is more difficult than finding a hooker with a full set of teeth.

Does anyone know the steps I'd need to take to get the video from a DVD onto my phone to watch? I want to watch some stuff on an airplane, and the phone is easier to handle than my laptop. I know how to rip the DVD to an ISO on my PC. I have used Handbrake to convert other videos to be viewable on my phone. What I don't know are the necessary intermediate steps.

So I tried googling and poking through a ton of different forums (this one, nexusone forums, etc.) regarding formatting video to be used on the DInc. The general consensus was to use Handbrake with the iPhone settings to convert video. But that was taking forever. What is weird is that I bought the Sandisk 32GB card, and I put a number of copies of the new season of Dr Who on it (all avi's, unsure what codecs were used for it though). They're all smaller than the native resolution of the phone (something like 366xsomething). But neither Meridian nor DoubleTwist can play them. I wasn't sure if it was card related, so I moved the files off the card onto the phone (which took forever, btw) and it still would freeze up opening the video. So I'm guessing I'm still going to have to convert the files, which is fine - but does anyone know of software better than Meridian to do so?
It's funny, I watched the entirety of Clerks on my LG Voyager (after converting it to 3gp or whatever that weird format was), and doing that seemed simpler than watching videos on my DInc. As an aside, we were watching the iPhone4 vs EVO video on my fiance's MotoDroid, standing outside a VzW store talking it up with an old co-worker of mine from when I used to work there, and the video froze. She shut it off, then turned it back on, and it started power cycling (M loop, whatever you want to call it). I spent 3 hours digging through forums looking for a way to recover her phone without factory reset, couldn't get anything to work, so we factory reset and it continued to power cycle. Totally bricked. Anyone know if this is normal?
We already ordered a replacement phone for her, as it was stock to begin with. Just find it rather weird, especially since it had happened shortly after we installed the latest version of LauncherPro on her phone. I guess the inner-troubleshooter in me is determined to figure out the cause-- especially if LauncherPro and/or YouTube interacted funny, I thought it'd be a really useful thing to give to the developers.

I was wondering if you guys have been able to watch movies on the fascinate? The one thing Samsung is doing, is the media hub which allows you to download movies to your galaxy s. Sadly android does not quite have that yet, you have to download, convert, transfer, so i was wondering if you guys had other options, or if you were excited for the media hub coming with froyo.

I'd like to be able to keep tabs on my dogs while I'm away. Ideally, I picture an app running on my PC that can stream audio to my cell, when I run an app on my cell. Any ideas around this? And there can be monkeys in the middle (PC to webpage to phone).

I have my primary android phone (Nexus 4) and an old android phone (MyTouch 4g). I would like to set up an "AirPlay" like system on a nice (but outdated) stereo system using DLNA. I was thinking about doing this by using my primary phone as the Digital Media Server (DMS), and my old android phone as the Digital Media Player (DMP).
See Digital Living Network Alliance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for more info on DLNA.
The primary phone - DMS, would be used to send the music to the old phone - DMP, which would then output the music via 3.5mm jack into the aux on my stereo. The only downfall I can think of to this setup would be the fact that I would have to dedicate a phone to the stereo, but that's not a problem because I don't use it anyway!

The problem I have is in the implementation of a video streaming application. What I need to do is to stream live what I record with the androids' camera, to a remote computer. I managed to establish a connection between the mobile phone and the computer, but I do not know how to send the video.I searched through forums, and I found out that in order to send a streaming video you have you use the ParcelFileDescriptor. So I created an instance of MediaRecorder with encoding H263 and .mp4 file format, I created a Socket and then I created a new ParcelFileDescriptor connecting it with the socket. If that is correct then the android application that I created is functional. What I don't know now is what to do at the side of the computer in order to receive and view the streaming video. I tried using JMF, but it doesn't support .mp4 video files. What do you suggest me to do? Or where to look in order to find a solution?

im not sure if this is a repost or if everyone already knows this but this is a very awesome tip. when i hard reset the phone and went to the market, i clicked "my downloads" and my apps that i had b4 were all listed and they said "free", (which meant i had to redownload). so it keeps your history according to your intial google sign in on the phone. ive hard reset bout 3 times just so i lower my market "MB". im at 3mb on my market and 50mb free of memory. i also have 67 apps installed. i highly recommend to hard reset your phone every now and then. it gives you so much more memory when you go and reinstall all your previous apps from "my downloads" section of the market. plus your contacts all sync to your gmail so you dont even have to worry bout losing any contacts. trust me, it really makes a difference in performance after the phone frees up that much memory. b4 i first did it i had like 27mb in my market and like 45 apps with 10mb of free mem on my phone. man did that suck. every time you go in the market or even when you uninstall an app it will still be eating your memory. try it out and leave some feed back. its really harmless. the only thing is that you will have to set your settings on some apps to how it was pre hard reset. for example, missed call, scoreboard, weather channel, and more. but its really worth it.

I am looking forward to purchasing the HTC Hero once it is out in Hong Kong. However, being someone who has been using an old Nokia phone for way too long, I am finding the jump onto a modern smart phone a bit confusing. One thing I really want on my phone is some of these mobile channels that are provided by my phone provider (PCCW) here in Hong Kong. Now according to that page, PCCW claims only some phones are supported, and there seems some relatively old phones there as well.I don't think PCCW will be selling the HERO as I will probably have to buy it separately, but I am wondering if these mobile channels will work on the HERO considering it is a brand new phone?I am really looking to watching streaming HD Football once the new season starts in August, and I want to be able to watch it on the Hero in case I am missing a game while I am out.Hope someone can explain this to me and how it would work.

I just bought a 2TB Western Digital MyBook Live. For those of you who do not know what it is let me briefly explain. It is a 2TB drive that looks like any other WD MyBook. The only difference is it connects directly to your router (not to your computer) and it allows me to have my own personal cloud right here in my house.
Among other things, I put my music library on the share so I can access from wherever I am. I know that there is an app called WD2Go by WD, and this allows me to access/play my music, but I do not like the format.
I also do NOT want to upload my music to Google Music in order to have it stream to my device.
I want to know if there is a way or an app, to stream my music directly from my own source right to my phone.

So I got a replacement for my Milestone yesterday, I logged to my google account, went to the Market->Downloads, and I only found my purchased apps nothing of my free apps.I did a backup applications with astro on my old phone, then restore apps on the new one, but that doesn't give access to the updates. Is there a way to find my free apps list, or I have to search for them one by one in the market?

So many apps, particularly free ones, seem to get access to things on the phone they don't need. For instance why would a card game that isn't an online card game need access to phone's location? Should I be worried that less than scrupulous folk are putting apps out in the "market"?

My phone (htc desire) kept saying low on phone storage and I assumed this meant the memory card (originally 4gb) so I purchased an 8gb sd card and put it in my phone, however the same message popped up low on phone storage. I now realise that its the memory storage thats low and not the sd card. Is there are way of moving my apps etc., on to the sd card rather than using the phone memory? If this isn't possible is there any other way of getting around the low phone storage problem?
