There's an app for this - Droid Messenger. Only their site is down, so can't try it. Is there an alternative app? I want to be able to send texts from my computer - through the web to my phone - then out to the recipient.

I was wondering what the simplest program for sending an object from my Android phone to my computer wirelessly (via LAN) would be. I have created Java RMI programs with a server and multiple clients, so I have a grasp of the concept. However with android I'm just not sure where to start.
What I am aiming to do is send some sort of information (could simply be text) to my computer and my computer will do an action. I have the GUI interface's and the actions to be carried out all worked out, just the sending of some sort of information is getting me.
So before i got the droid eris i could send picures from the computer to my verizon phone with vzw pics but now that i have the droid eris i cant do that. so does anyone know how to send pictures from the computer to the droid eris?

Also, recently (as in today). My phone has been sending messages to other people, randomly. I got a phone call from my mother but it popped up as a totally different number.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a girlfriend abroad who's on Live Messenger and Skype. I've got a WiFi router and a HTC Desire (Android 2.2). I'd like to use my phone to somehow be able to talk to her for free, just like we're doing it when we're both on our computers, either through WiFi or through mobile broadband, it doesn't matter much. I've browsed through other threads and found the following apps mentioned:
*Nimbuzz: Seems to change you for calling.
*MSN Talk: All I can do is send text messages(?).
*Sipdroid: Seems to want some kind of account info that neither me nor my girlfriend has.
*Google Talk (built in): All I can do is send text messages(?).
Have I missed something? Is there another app I should be using? I could ask my girlfriend to install another app other than Live Messenger & Skype if needed, as long as it's easy to use.
Is there any app (preferably free) that allows you to control an ERIS (android1.5)'s SMS client by sending messages from the computer while hooked up to the phone via cable. I'm just lazy and dont feel like picking up my phone half the time...

The main function is by pressing on a button in Android device a message should go to computer via internet (I don't know, but I think it should be with UDP). I have a broadcast receiver the looks at SMS, when it receives an SMS that is destined for my application it needs to send some data to an activity or start the activity if it is not running. How do I find out if the activity is running and send data to it if it is? I know I can use StartActivity and stuff the intent with the data I want to send to it but if I start the activity that is already running, another instance of it will be created (wont it?).

The CSV file is created successfully, but when I try to send the email, I encounter a problem. The device looks like it is going to send the email with the appropriate attachment, but when the email is received... there is no attachment at all...

The mobile phone appears now in the hardware manager ADB interface. I would now be able to send data through this USB connection to the mobilephone which my app is able to handle. I know some tethering software which does this, therefore there must be a way to communicate with user data and with my app.

my application is not a service, it's a normal application, with some windows and some stuff. i dont wanna make it a service cos is too munch complicated and i prefeer to avoid it then, if my application is not a service, when it goes to background (home key pressed for example), it continues working (sending/getting data from internet)? i ask this because i read this on a developer guide tutorial: "Because an Activity can perform actions only while it is active and in focus, you should create your status bar notifications from a Service"

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Gmail app where I think no information is being 'sent' from the phone. I receive incoming mails, but no mails are sent. Though I delete incoming mails, the next notification which I receive when I get the next mail will show "17 mails" though I would have deleted the previous 16 emails. When I check email on my browser, all the emails what I had deleted are still there. I have tried a factory reset and I still have a problem.

its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.
So today I tried using the Google Talk app with a friend of mine who was at his computer. I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?
