I am trying to create a mail sending application in android, If I use
`Intent emailIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND`);
This will launch the builtin application of android, I'm trying to send the mail on button click directly without using this app.
I have a new Desire with T Mobile and I have gone through the automated email set up via my "POP3" account with Ntlworld. Problem is, whilst I receive my emails, I cannot send emails. To be honest, this is not an area that I am very good at, so I might be missing something daft. Does anyone know of something obvious I can do, or can they help me to check my settings.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIm using IMAP. What happens is I scroll down and open say the 20th email on the list. When Im finished reading the email, I click the back button. It automatically defaults to the very top of the mail list - forcing me to scroll back down to read the 19th email and work my way back up. In other words it doesnt take me back to where I had just scrolled.

I'm creating an app that has an "export" feature which converts the user's data into a CSV file, and allows the user to send it as an attachment to somebody (presumably themselves).
The CSV file is created successfully, but when I try to send the email, I encounter a problem. The device looks like it is going to send the email with the appropriate attachment, but when the email is received... there is no attachment at all...

I recently got a HTC magic, and was trying to get my yahoo mail into email application without success. It kept saying i typed in the wrong ID or password. It accepted hotmail and google mail though. Anyone managed to get yahoo mail into Email application? Please tell me how you did.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Gmail app where I think no information is being 'sent' from the phone. I receive incoming mails, but no mails are sent. Though I delete incoming mails, the next notification which I receive when I get the next mail will show "17 mails" though I would have deleted the previous 16 emails. When I check email on my browser, all the emails what I had deleted are still there. I have tried a factory reset and I still have a problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need help finding the right email app.The default one is horrible. The problem I am having is that it doesn't differentiate new emails from old. Every time I open the inbox in any of my email accounts, it always shows all emails as new. I don't know which one's I read or not. It's not bad if it takes me directly to the email, but when I have emails for multiple inboxes, I don't know which ones have the new email. I called tmobile tech support and was told that unless I delete the read emails from the server, the phone will keep reloading them as new. On my old phone, the messages I read where marked as read and stayed that way. When I got a new email, it was clear which one it was because it was highlighted.
Also, I've just switched to the g1 from a business phone, so I'm really new to this still. The couple things that I would like to figure out how to do is, first, I would like to know how I can search my contacts both by name or business. I've transfered the contact info from outlook to the g1 and so I have both name and business information. However, when I search using the keyboard, I can only search by name. If I put in the name of the company, it doesn't show up. Also, is it possible to have both shown. On my old phone when searched for either the person name or business name, the result showed both. For example, if I searched for lauren or Unico, it would show up as Lauren with Unico below it. Also, this way if I have more than one lauren, I can distinguish between them without having to click through each one.
Secondly, is it possible to set up "speed dial" function. Basically, if I pull up the dialer and press 2 for like 2 seconds it will. Third, I used to have my phone setup that I would have what ever my next appointment was, it would show on the home screen. Is that possible with this phone. Is it possible to allocate certain space on the home screen to preview upcoming appointments.
How I am supposed to use email on android. Am I supposed to use the gmail app or HTC email app? Also is there a better email app? I am coming from a Palm pre. Is there an email app that views html email better? I like how on the iPhone and pre, you see the whole email, zoomed out. I hate having to pan around, I hate by default it is zoomed in.

When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
I have an HTC Magic running the stock Roger's 2.1 rom, using K9 mail with MobileMe. I find if I compose an email from scratch, no problems. But if I reply to a message it won't send... it just sits in the Outbox. If I manually force it to send from the Outbox it will usually go... but not always. Has anyone come across anything like this before? Seems pretty weird that a 'fresh' email will send, but not a reply (the only different seemingly being that K9 is filling in the To field itself). I guess in the meantime I could give another email app such as MailDroid a spin, but I'm rather fond of K9.

I would like to remove my G mail account from the actual G mail app since I am not using it. How do I do that? I control both ends of the communication, so I've basically been exploring the "best" way to send information back and forth. So far, I've tried Jackson for JSON and the native Java Serialization packages. My object is relatively complex and completely serializable.I have no desire to write a "custom" guy at all, as I doubt I'd actually be able to improve on most of the packages.So with that being said, are there any other strategies/packages I should try to get information to/from my server?

All of my settings are correct and i can receive them fine.

Wondered what people's thoughts were on the mail apps that come with the phone? I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me...
