Just got my first andriod phone (Droid 2) I have 4 apps on my front page. Messaging, Email, Social Network and gmail. I would like to have "1" app that has all of my notifications in one. I want FB, Twitter, Yahoo, Gmail, Text, Foursquare and work email all in one place if possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedText message application for Android that will be non-intrusive. I am currently using Handscent SMS. It sucks when I am playing a game or watching a youtube video and someone sends me a message. It stops the game or pauses youtube.
My friend let me use his iphone for a few minutes the other day and I really like the way text messaging shows up. If in a game or watching a youtube video it just shows up at the top of the screen. The game and youtube video would continue without pausing. Then you can decide if you want to reply to the message or not. Any apps that have this sort of functionality?
Is there any way to modify the generic Android Exception message "The application has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later". To display something more meaningful to the user?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been using the default SMS program since I'm OK with it and don't really need the fancier customizable stuff of Handcent and such. However one thing that does bother me about the SMS program is that when I hit "Messages" it brings me back to the conversation of the last person I was texting with/I sent text to, not the SMS that just came in.
For ex: I've been texting Person A back and forth. Then I get a text from Person B- I see it in the notification bar preview. So I press Messages, but it doesn't take me to Person B's message- it takes me back to the thread from Person A. I can't even figure out How to get to the Person B message except to go to "Menu" key, then hit All Messages, then it shows all the threads and of course the most recent (person B) is up at top. But wouldn't it make sense that pressing Messages after receiving a message takes you to the most recent incoming message? Am I doing something wrong/have some options checked off wrong? Is there a way around this default behavior?
I have instaled Handcent and gone into my standard message settings and turned off all ntifications and reports but when I check my app killer it shows it as still running all the time. Really annoying as it's extra drain on the battery.

Is there a keyboard available that is similar to the blackberry? Or can someone recommend a good keyboard? I could live with what it has, but would like to have something different. 2. I loaded Handcent and it worked great BUT- it doesn't show a new message indicator on the App Icon on the home screen- only shows a notification in the Notification bar. Is this correct?

I just installed a new sms app and love it, the problem is that I can't get the proprietary message application on the Hero to stop retrieving all messages. It doesn't help to have cool features like blacklist, if you can't use them because the original app just logs the threads anyway. How do you turn off or uninstall the original message program, I would prefer to just get rid of it and free up the space. Any ideas???

That I wasn't getting picture messages to show up right away anymore, now it seems like they have to send the same picture 2 or 3 times before it will actually download and I can view it. Wondering if there is some known issue or a fix to get it back to normal and working right again. I'm looking at one now and it just says it's downloading, never leaves that, doesn't show a picture.

I tried copying package dumps (from another thread somewhere) to /system/apps/ and installing them, but I get a "Application not Installed" message. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
I rooted and flashed with fresh 1.1 and it's got amazingly fast! My question is how do I remove the stock message app that sprint put on there? I have chompSMS as my txt app. I took a look at the pre-kitchen, but I use a mac so wanted to see if there are any other alternatives.
