I have instaled Handcent and gone into my standard message settings and turned off all ntifications and reports but when I check my app killer it shows it as still running all the time. Really annoying as it's extra drain on the battery.

so i made a wonderful discovery this weekend that my phone will take a charge from my CD deck in my car that has a USB jack. my concern is, that it may end up damaging the phone somehow and i was beyond paranoid. does anyone know if it is a safe thing to do? Does the USB standard have a standard power output?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt appears that Android supports JUnit 3 out of the box.�However, I have some pre-existing JUnit 4 unit tests that I'd like to try on Android. I've tried adding the JUnit 4 jar to eclipse and compiling/ running the tests by pointing a standard JUnit run against them, but nothing seems to happen.�There's no evidence in the eclipse console or the Android emulator that any tests have been run.
Can anyone with knowledge about this subject comment?�Is it even possible to run JUnit 4 tests under Android, and if so, is there a step-by-step explanation as to how to achieve this (preferably under Jetbrains IDEA IDE, and/or Eclipse).
I find my phone overheating. It was at 130 degrees! What was the problem? Well, I forgot to close an application! So if you have the gumbo kernel. Make sure you don't run any applications and leave them open. So if you ever have the same problem, turn off your phone and place it by an open window and let it cool off for a good 5-10 minutes.

I have a task manager(called task manager) that auto kills apps 1min after screen timeout. Any advice on why it overheats? View 12 Replies View RelatedI just installed a new sms app and love it, the problem is that I can't get the proprietary message application on the Hero to stop retrieving all messages. It doesn't help to have cool features like blacklist, if you can't use them because the original app just logs the threads anyway. How do you turn off or uninstall the original message program, I would prefer to just get rid of it and free up the space. Any ideas???

That I wasn't getting picture messages to show up right away anymore, now it seems like they have to send the same picture 2 or 3 times before it will actually download and I can view it. Wondering if there is some known issue or a fix to get it back to normal and working right again. I'm looking at one now and it just says it's downloading, never leaves that, doesn't show a picture.

I can run it fine on a phone running 1.5 but when I try to launch it with an emulator running 1.5, the emulator doesn't show up on the list of available AVDs. I have the <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3"/> tag in my manifest but it doesn't make a difference.

Strange thing is that this app works fine and the mails from the Exchange server are sent perfectly to the HTC Desire. What is even more strange is that a colleague of mine has exactly the same Desire and is on the same Exchange server as I am and for him, the Mail application for Exchange works perfectly. I really want to use the standard mail application. I saw there is an option in Touchdown 'Fetch and trust certificate' which is not available in Mail for Exchange. I already tried to logon to the webmail via a browser but this did not seem to help.

I turned off the notifcation for the gmail app but cant seem to find where i can unistall it or turn it off in a sense. Basically my emails are being sent both to k9 and gmail app.
2. can you change the notifcation led light for the k9 app? currently it blinks purple when an email comes in and I cant seem to change it like I can with hancent or phone calls.

I don't want one of the various "custom" roms floating around as they all seem to have little bits and bobs that don't work properly. I am not talking about flashing the ROM but rather stopping Sense and loading the normal UI. I have a sim free Hero (now on O2). Was working ok, but now seems to be getting very slow. I think my ROM is very old:

What's my best option? Upgrade to the standard HTC ROM or go with Modaco? Are there other options? Is the android version linked to the ROM upgrade and if so, worth waiting for 2.1?
If it helps, I don't really use the phone too advanced. Sync to google and yahoo mail, some internet, music and a few apps.
Does anyone has an idea of how to split the screen into two? Is it possible for me to run an application in one screen and another app in other screen?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running basic Sprint 2.1 rooted. I've removed all the bloatware, and wireless tether is working great. Pretty much everything is working great, actually, aside from the standard dialer and contact lag many people have reported, plus occasional lag in other areas.
So here's my question: Is there a custom ROM out there that solves the lagginess problem while leaving everything else basically functional and intact? I've been reading the threads around all the various ROMs, and while it seems that some offer real advantages in various areas, it also appears that each introduces its own new set of problems and dysfunctions. While I'd love a snappier phone, I don't want a bunch of new bugs, worse battery life, whatever. I mean, based on the threads here, the average custom ROM user's experience would seem to be slightly worse than my experience with the standard Sprint release.
For one reason another it needs to go back to how it was as it came out of the factory !

We're talking about 30 seconds in standard browser compared to about 1 second in Opera.What's that about?Is everybody else finding the same thing? It's annoying that Opera isn't quite as complete as standard browser, coz otherwise I'd just use it all the time.

It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.
