I have a rooted DroidX and made the mistake of removing a few system apps, including Messaging.apk. Now I open the text message application and it closes right away. I tried copying package dumps (from another thread somewhere) to /system/apps/ and installing them, but I get a "Application not Installed" message. How can I get the phone to reinstall these applications?

I installed the NexTheme R2, and then restored all my apps with MyBackup Pro. My apps are on my phone but if I go to the android market place it's as if they are not installed. If I proceed to install the app it informs me that it is going to overwrite the current app. Is there a way to register installed apps without reinstalling each app? I am afraid that I will not receive updates due to the phone thinking the apps are not installed.

1. i have the "Droid" voice ringtone but when i get a text message it says "Droid" twice idk why its doing that i thought i only have it set to go off once
2. also when i get a new message it gives me a notification in the bar on top and the only way to make it go away and make my led turn off is by manually dragging down the bar and clearing it! is there any way i can have it just not show up or fix it or something?
Whenever I try to send a text message with three or more recipients, the messaging app does a force close. Anyone else get this or have a solution to the problem?

However the 2.2 messaging app. I can't stand it and I loved the 2.1 messaging app (enough to just go back to 2.1 if I can't get it) so I was wondering if anyone could give me the .apk file so I could manually install it on my droid. Please and thanks . I'd do this myself, but I don't know how.

That I wasn't getting picture messages to show up right away anymore, now it seems like they have to send the same picture 2 or 3 times before it will actually download and I can view it. Wondering if there is some known issue or a fix to get it back to normal and working right again. I'm looking at one now and it just says it's downloading, never leaves that, doesn't show a picture.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if I'm the only one who doesn't like the new stock Froyo messaging app (I doubt I am) but is there any way to switch out the new one with the old one. Personally I loved the old stock messaging app and I would LOVE to have it back. I know there's the whole issue of it not being compatible but if anyone has gotten it to work I would love to know. I don't want to have to go back to Handcent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the updated GalaX theme and it brought in a new messaging app that is similar to the cyanogen sms app. However it corrects the time stamp but I get 2 messages for every received sms one at the correct time and one and the 4 or 5 hour off time. Can I remove the motorola sms application or rename it? Anyone know what that is?

In the 2.1 app it simply showed my name and the other persons name; no pic of us next to every text. Is there anyway to disable showing the pics in the 2.2 app? Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).
Is there any way to change the color or get rid of the bubble look of the stock messaging app? don't want to use Handcent or Chomp, so what are my options? (If any). Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have found that the AD Community ROM acts as if it is a brand new phone, never activated, and runs you through the set up of all your settings - and then proceeds to DL all your apps that you had installed previously.I posted a comment about it at AllDroid - View topic - [Rom] AllDroid Community Beta 0.3 release and got a reply that when someone went back to un-rooted and what not, the OEM ROM did the same thing.So, this led me to believe that there is some particular setting that allows for this to occur, where the ROM being installed is installed in a certain state so as to make the phone think it has never been activated before.This being said, I wondered if other ROMs could be tricked into thinking the same thing - and I hit upon an idea- what if, after installing a new ROM, you go into settings and do the factory reset that is there? Since I don't have anything installed except for this custom ROM and SPRecovery and such, I am not really gonna lose anything by doing this, so why no give it a whirl

I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.

Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
