I just got my android dev phone, but when I invoke "adb devices", it only shows: List of devices attached no permissions What does it mean? What is the problem and how should I fix it?

I am working on an application that needs to find GPS location of the user. While testing my code on Droid i am unable to find the GPS location. While googling i found this link to an issue raised with Google.
But apps like Yelp can find the GPS location on droid. Is there a workaround to find the user location on a device? Here's the code I am using code....
I'm new to development for Android and I am curious if it is even possible to request and accurate location of another android device? For example, If I wanted to find where a friend is located and show it on my device in google maps.

It was a dedicated white pages, and very fast.
What everybody has been telling me on my droid is just to type the name into the search bar up top. That then brings up a browser with google's results. So when I went to look for 'joe blow' 'anycity' yesterday it brought up a link for his facebook, linkedin, research paper he wrote, etc.., everything but his phone number.
What is the best way to find someones phone number or address if you know their name and state with Android on the droid?

I suspect that there are specific target builds required here (note that I DID add "TARGET_PRODUCT := htc_dream" as required to the Makefile), but there are no other vendors available under the Vendor folder in the source (i.e., T- Mobile, etc). Am I off base? Should Phone.apk be able to work on our HTC dream phones without additonal modifications?

Ok, so I restored my phone back to stock, when I go to system updates, says my phone is up to date, however my phone is not 2.2 its about 6 months old.

I have installed/re-installed HTC sync several times. I have disabled my virus software.I get the HTC Sync notification when I plug in the Eris, but when I tap it to start connecting, nothing. The PC bleeps at me as if it has recognized a new device, but the Eris never finds the HTC sync software (yes it is open). It finally reports that it can't find HTC Sync on the PC.The first time, Windows installed several device drivers, including the HTC driver. This last time, I got a Windows Error stating the HTCVBTServer module had stopped working.I can't find any information on this.
