2.1 Update :: Xperia X10 Android 2.2 Froyo (Alpha Version)

Nov 28, 2010

There is Froyo running on an X10, I know its true because its my x10, this is an Alpha version and runs from the SD Card, it is not even a beta version yet but this version is around 90% done, still some things to resolve. This is not a re-flash of the phone it is a dual boot so has not affected the SE base operating system currently installed being 2.1.

The guys at XDA are working on this and if they get it fully resolved then it will become available as an alternative system, if they keep it as dual boot it will never affect your warranty. At all as this installs on your SD Card, there is a thread on the XDA forum but in respect of this forums policy on rooting and other things I wont post the link but searching the XDA forum for x10 Custom Rom will return a number of results so you can find it from there yourself.

If the guys at XDA can do this then SE can, the only thing is XDA are not restricted by International markets and operator restrictions like SE are, if XDA make a custom rom that runs 2.2. From the SD Card then for me its perfect it keeps the phone warranty and software as is and lest you run your own free Froyo version. The pictures are not photo shopped except for clipping and sizing from the original.

HTC Desire :: Facebook Version After Froyo Update TMobile

Sep 22, 2010

Finally updated to Froyo last night and see that the facebook version is still 1.2, whereas the current version on the market is 1.3.2. Assume this is in the T-Mobile rom, but is there any way to uninstall it? Or if I install the current version will it go over the top (or will I end up with two versions?)

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Generic Global Update / What Is Baseband Version?

Nov 11, 2010

I was bored today and decided to do the updating through my phone (not through SE Update Service), unlike the previous 3 weeks, it finally shows there is an update for my phone. I was so excited and immediately hit ok and start downloading. It took total about 30 minutes to download and update the phone. Seems like a major update. I was so happy thinking this has got to be the Android 2.1 firmware update. After updating, the phone automatically restarted itself. Took about 1 minute to restart. Right away, I went to the setting - about phone to check the software version. It still shows Firmware 1.6. But the baseband version is now 1.1.27 instead of 1.1.16 before. What is this baseband version?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Coming Update - No Back-porting From Froyo

Oct 23, 2010

Since this is from the product blog, I guess it is fair accurate.

1. No app-to-SD function

2. No flash (not even flash-lite)

3. Apparently no live wallpaper from Sony (does that mean we won't get Live Wallpaper at all?)

pparently the update will be PC based only.

Well... good news is SE apparently has realized they should not have dug too deep into the Android core, but just layer them over. It took them over 9 months to realize this? What will this signify for us, X10 owners? Is that their way of telling us, give up on X10, and get their next Android product?

Motorola Droid X :: Stuck In Bootloop On 2.2 - How Do I Install Newer FroYo Version?

Aug 26, 2010

I was trying deodexing manually and ran into big problems, now in bootloop. I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? His site doesn't mention it but maybe he just replaced the file download without mentioning? http://www.koushikdutta. com/2010/08/droid-x-recovery.html)-How can I install this newer recovery if I am stuck in bootloop?

Samsung Galaxy S :: Flashing - European Version Of Froyo Onto Canadian Phone

Nov 30, 2010

I have an i9000M (Bell) Galaxy S that is unlocked. I have had different versions of Froyo on the phone in the last couple of months, Currently, I have JPO and it is working fine.

My first question is,
Is there a generic (Non Bell, Orange, Att, etc.) version of Android that works on any android phone? Also, what about a version that works on any brand of phone, sort of like WIndows on a PC. I know there are a sh*t load of different phones out there, but I was wondering if a generic version would work.

Question #2,
Can I flash a European version of Froyo onto my Canadian phone?

HTC Desire :: Froyo Downgrade Utility (Windows And Linux) - Any HBOOT Version

Aug 30, 2010

If you've upgraded to official froyo you probably know that downgrading can be difficult, especially if you have an SLCD screen. If you did a branded upgrade (e.g. Vodafone) then the old methods won't work at all.Since current rooting methods won't work on froyo this can be a big problem.I've created a tool that will downgrade Froyo to stock 2.1. It requires a goldcard if your phone is branded. The download details as well as instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256

Android :: App Update Could Lead To Losing Data From Old App Version?

Nov 3, 2010

I'm writing a game for Android. When the user completes a level, they can restart from the next level if they lose (i.e. I need to store an integer to remember which level they got to). If the app is interrupted during play, I save the world state to disk (this is complex state storing a map and game entities).I'd like to keep my options open in the future for changing my game code and the way the world state is saved/stored. However, I must consider the scenario when a user has an old version of the world state on their phone because they were in the middle of a game, they upgrade the app and now the app cannot load the world state. Having to write code to migrate the old version of the data to the new version of the data would be a pain if there's some way I can avoid this. It would be nice if I could somehow ask the user to finish their current game in progress before updating. Can this be done? Are there any other options?

I don't intend to do this often. I'd like to iteratively develop my game while getting some early feedback, but this is difficult if I must fix how the world state is saved and restored now.I hope this doesn't seem a silly question, but on a PC or a console it's perfectly OK to have games that you cannot save during a game or you can only save between levels. I'm just finding Android a bit of a pain here as you must have a save game strategy for all games.
