Is it possible to upgrade my samsung galaxy phone with android 1.5 to 1.6 and when the days will come to 2.0 ?
If it's possible , can you please redirect me to an tut that will explain to me howto.

I bought a galaxy I7500 yesterday, and it is running 1.5. I am in Canada and the phone is unlocked (I am using it with Wind mobile) and am wondering if there is an official update to different version of android (I had the magic before and it was all just done for me). Also does anyone know if the phone will relock, all the manuals are not in English so I am not sure the original carrier of the device. (The Samsung website only seems to list the L version of this phone).

I'm trying to get the latest Samsung update. I can browse to both SD cards (int & ext) using the NPC software, but when I go to click update > devices and I pull down the pull down menu for "Select Device", there is no device to be seen!
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just got my new Samsung i7500 Galaxy and try to connect to the PC, First my NPS rel 1.2.0 did not accept the phone, I could see it, I could se virtual disk, but not connet to the phone , NPS said "Not supported phone", I went to Update NPS, and NPS found rel 1.3.0. IJ1 which I downloaded and installed. Then phone still not connected. NPS displayed message- "this firmware not supported, only supported function is upgrading firmware", well that was easy :-) go to update in NPS, found new firmware version, and NPS downloaded, copied the old version from the phone to PC, and then uploading new firmware, it went all the way on the PC to 100%! and Success - completed.
However Display on Phone is still showing " Downloading..." and show a blue square icon in display, after 2 hours I took the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in, and the phone goes back to "downloading " -
I have tried to :
Power off Hold volume down + call button + end call button and Volume down + OK (center of d pad)) + power
But this just "lock the phone in a mode with display off".
Any Ideas on how to reset the phone and start on again ? Do I have to turn it in to Samsung?
I got the Galaxy from my mother (she switched to another phone), but she lost the USBcable. I found a way of sending files via WiFi to the sdcard, and also connected adb via WiFi, but I can't flash the new recovery because I'd have no WiFi connection in fastboot. Is there a way to flash an official update from the sdcard using stock recovery? I successfully entered recovery but there are no options, and I can't find a guide of any kind. I tried buying the cable, but none of the shops had the official one, so finally I bought a third party cable that only charges the phone through usb, but windows gives me some error and doesn't recognize it as a device.

Unfortunately, the network appeared rumors that Samsung would indicate that the Galaxy will not be upgrading to the new OS 1.6, nor even to Eclair Donut 2.0. The news is also reflected in the information that we have in the office for several weeks. The thing is still not official and the hope remains. I recently upgraded to the htc desire after I couldn't bare with samsungs (lack of) support any longer. I am still running drakaz' latest nightly on it but as I am trying to sell I believe it would be a wise thing to bring it back to factory conditions, software wise. Would anyone here be able to point me in the right direction for the Croatian ROM of the galaxy, or the latest update for it? I never ever done anything else but rooting and custom roms so I completely lost touch on which version was actually running on it.

Only thing is, my Chinese ID3 tags come out as gibberish, I think it's 'cause of the II5 firmware. I've read threads about flashing to II5 before installed galaxo, but since updated versions have been coming out, I just wanted to find out. Is galaxo strictly only for II5? Meaning it isn't backward NOR forward compatible? My gibberish ID3 tags are really bugging me.

I was reading here a bit, and got confused with all those firmwares.
I put my phone on NPS and saw that there is an update. I was so happy and hit "Update" button fast. After downloading, phone reset, boot starting but no desk apearing. Only "SAMSUNG" word flashing on screen. There was no reaction on buttons. Battery out and in, phone boot and same thing happens. Try updating again but NPS said that cannot recognize the phone. Recovery button is disabled. After short browsing on this forum I saw some that there is combination of three buttons for turning on download mode. I try that and it works, but didnt do anything before thinking and some consulting here. What are my options now? Personaly I would like to have official update, if not then roll back is good option, if not what can I do to hack my phone without loosing any too much options on my phone?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the market it said there was an update for Handcent, so I downloaded and installed it yesterday. When I went to use it today it said that it wasn't installed on my phone!
I tried re-installing it today - it seems to download ok and then starts the install. When I check the notification in the status bar it states:
Installation Error
Insufficient storage available.
I've never had problems with previous versions and as for insufficient storage, I have over 5GB free on my internal card.
I have spent all night reading posts and bugs for some up dates, but after reading all of that it seams best to keep fabric settings.I've noticed that no one have asked this question: What is the most stable update for Samsung i7500 Galaxy?I'm ready to root and play with my phone put not that much crazy to try everything on my phone so please debate this question.

I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have?
2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up?
3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
I did the backup/restore before updating my Moment yesterday.For some reason one app (Locale) did not come back.The new version of Locale ($9.99) has been changed substantially and has been widely panned in the comments.The old version which I had (and is free) is supposed to be better.Is there a site for old apps?Also, I have another Moment which has the old app.Is it possible to "copy" it?

If so, how do I back all my data? Do I need to take out the memory card before updating? And I also have a contract i.e. pay monthly, so do I need to take out the sim card because on the website it says: "This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading."
If you're to believe Hands on Sprint Samsung Moment Android phone - Android and Me, we won't be getting Donut anytime soon. Skipping to 6:10 - "they" told him about Donut in 2010 for "Moment", I guess Galaxy won't be getting it prior to Moment, if ever. We really need Samsung to tell us officially about Donut because if the delay is true, it is a major blow to early adopters of their Android phones.
