I was flashing back to stock rom and I followed deaths steps for it, and for about the past hour or so its been stuck, once like every 20 minutes the screen will flash and go back to android. Did I brick it or what?

Today I tried to restore my phone back to stock ROM and as I was trying to get into recovery mode and complete a nand restore but it wouldn't let me get in. It would just reboot me back into bootloader. I tried updating my superboot and recovery image to 1.7 and it's just stuck at the loading screen now. Is there anyway to restore it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone using Universal Androot (worked perfectly) and then proceeded to install ROM Manager to flash a custom ROM to my Ally. I used the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first (sucessfully) then used Backup Current ROM to backup the stock (V8) ROM (sucessfully). I then proceeded to install the Velocity 0.1.1 ROM (sucessfully).
I've searched here a bit, and am unclear as to the process to restore my stock ROM using ROM Manager. I believe it would work as follows?:
Use Manage and Restore Backups. Select backup I made, and then restore.
If I wanted to un-root, I could then just use Universal Androot to un-root the phone (although I havent tried that part yet).
Love the ROM, just curious how to go back if I need to.
My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to load velocity using ROM manager and it would boot, but it got force quit messages repeatedly before I could do anything else so I tried holding volume down, home, and send together and it flashed a screen quickly with the little android guy and a progress bar and then after that it won't go past the android logo. I tried using the LG-utility to flash it but it gives me errors and it wont flash it. What can I do besides run the thing over and get a new phone from insurance?

My question is, since I flashed the csc and kernel, how do I flash back to the stock JF6 rom that came with the phone? Just the pit and .tar (pda)? I have the firmware and the pit file.. just wondering what is entailed because of flashing the additional csc and kernel files as well.
Would the process just require using the RUU to flash back to stock and waiting for the update? I am currently all the way rooted and running the Cyanogen nightly.
View 19 Replies View RelatedFinally got Velocity installed and setup the way I like it. It's a tremendous improvement in overall performance compared to the stock. Kudos to Trident for taking the time to put this together for all of us. I only have one problem with it that I hope I can do something about or I may end up back on the stock ROM. Velocity comes with the latest Google maps version, which I hate because you can't clear the data so over time the app builds up more and more used space. Since I use the Google Maps Navigation pretty much everyday for work, that's going to be a small problem. Does anyone know if there is an app out there that allows you to clear the map data periodically? Or is there a way I can push the stock Map app into Velocity and do what I did before and simply ignore the update notices? I know I can just keep uninstalling it and reinstalling it periodically and i may end up doing that if there is no way to clear the data because I would really like to keep Velocity. I hope this doesn't come across as a knock on Velocity because it's not meant to be. I think it's a tremendous upgrade to the Ally and if it wasn't for my unique situation of using Google Maps so much, I wouldn't even be asking.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Hero (CDMA) from a friend. Wasn't sure if I was going to keep it (bought it dirt cheap so was maybe going to resell it) but after playing around with it I decided to keep it. Rooted it, flashed in custom cyanogen ROM...set it up just the way I wanted it, all before activating the phone. LOL
So as I'm sure many of you know, you can't activate with a custom ROM. From what I've read in other forums, rooting doesn't matter when activating, it's all about the ROM. So I'll have to flash back to stock 2.1 to activate this thing. I called Sprint and played dumb but there was no way they could activate it apparently. Well, technically the phone is "activated" but can not be "programmed" for use with a custom ROM.
So will the flashback to stock 2.1 de-root? Or can I just back up my current ROM, flash to stock 2.1, activate and then simply reload my custom ROM?
I had an issue flashing the newest version of the leedroid ROM. To start my phone was running stock un-rooted Android 2.1. This is what I've done
1) Rooted the device using the Unrevoked method. Everything with this went fine. I get the Superuser app and I can get the '#' prompt at a terminal.
2) Then I partitioned my SD card using Rom Manager in preparation for A2SD+
3) Then I booted into clockwork mod recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik cache
4) Then I tried to flash the leedroid rom from zip on the sd card
After reboot my phone appears to be stuck on the HTC screen and will not move forward. But if I take out the battery I can boot back into recovery mode. So it appears my phone is not broken, but it clearly isn't working. I've tried flashing a number of different ROMs but get the same result each time.
Had been running great for me and now im stuck in a boot loop at the android screen after leaving on barnacle wifi tether until the batt died. (running Raptor) It boots fine with Velocity

I took it off earlier today because it wasn't what I wanted. Now after 3 messages I have a grey box on my screen that says "Message received by (person's number)" and it doesn't go away unless I turn my phone off and back on again. Then after a few texts, it pops up again and won't go away.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor the past 2 hours I have been searching this site and reading about Rooting and Flashing new ROM's etc. and I'm still having trouble. I downloaded Cyanogen 6.0.0 and when the phone re booted it got stuck at the Cyanogen boot animation screen, and when I pulled the Battery and rebooted in to recovery I was able to restore everything and now the phone works again.
So first off, how long should it take after downloading a new ROM to boot back up with the new ROM installed? And how can I save the ROM in to the SD card? And when I go to DL Cyanogen it asks which home application I should use and gives me ADWlauncher and Launcher 2 as options.
My hero bricked on me - when i hold down power & back keys i get in to a screen with the 3 androids on skateboards, can I flash a fresh rom from this screen? and if so - How?
View 6 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this has been asked before (didn't see a thread on it, anyway), but I uninstalled Android's default browser (Browser.apk) after reading from this post that it was safe, as long as another browser was installed.Afterward, Dolphin and Opera seem to work fine (although I hate Opera, but that's another story). Skyfire, however, just comes up to a black screen, and doesn't do anything else until I decide to exit.Is Skyfire just an overlay of features onto the stock browser, or could something else have disabled it?Also, is there a place/way I can re-download/re-install the stock browser? I mean, I guess I could re-flash my ROM, but that seems a bit excessive.

I'm new to smartphones in general and wanted to root my Evo so that I could get rid of that annoying bloatware and maybe find some cool functionality.I'm new to forums too, but I did dig through a ton before I posted this and didn't see a solution to my problem.I used unrevoked 3 to root the phone. Worked fine. Tried to install Fresh through Rom Manager, but couldn't get it to flash by installing from sd card. Sort of abandoned that and moved on to Bugless Beast. I downloaded that to my computer transferred to my phone and tried "install from sd card" again. No luck, it just gave me the startup screen "htc evo 4g" and stayed on.I used nandroid to restore to my previous settings with no problem. I decided to partition the hardrive and try to flash bugless beast again. This would have been fine, but I didn't realize that partitioning removed the clockwise back up file.So, now I don't have anything to restore back to and it is stuck on the "htc evo 4g" screen.I can still get into the hboot, so its not a total loss yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore applying the Turbo4 ROM, I ran Linpack to get a base number so I can compare it with the number I get after I apply Turbo4. I got a 4.188. The phone is rooted with many of the stock apps removed running the Zeam Launcher, but no other custom ROMS.
Is that a pretty good number to start with? It was higher than I was expecting because most linpack scores i've read about are in the 3's.
I went ahead and added an unmodified version of of the LG Ally V8 stock image to my listing in ROM Manager. When downloading, you will be given an option to root it if you so choose.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my Galaxy SII to official android 4.0.3 through Kies one month ago. Unfortunately, it often hang and finally cannot boot up again after my yesterday hard reboot. It stuck in the opening white logo "Samsung Galaxy SII".
So I used "download mode" and followed all the steps, including killing Kies, etc. to flash a new 4.0.3 through Odin. Everything seems working fine before I clicked "Start", e.g. yellow "ID:COM". Only boxes of "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" were ticked.
However, the installation process got stuck for over 5 hours now as follows:-

<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..[code]....
What should I do next?? It seems not appropriate to reboot my device at this moment, but seems no other choice......
I have been able to flash velocity 0.2 and then decided to upgrade to 0.3. When I did, I looked into flashing the turbo kernel for ally. Followed the instructions as said and now I have the choice to boot to recovery or if I let the boot go all the way through it gets stuck after the verizon logo. When I try to flash a different ROM, I hit install from SD card and everytime, no matter which ROM I pick, it starts updating but says opening file, then like 2 more lines saying opening, then it stops the install.
