HTC Incredible :: Directory Setup On Micro SD Card?
Jun 2, 2010Are there specific directories that should be setup for Android to understand what is in them? Like a "MP3" directory for music or "images" for photos etc.?

Oct 31, 2010At some points while running my android application, I need to create a directory on the sd card, for a small number of users this fails and I can't figure out the reason for it... (I've found similar problems caused by the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission missing, it's there and it works for almost all users so I don't think this is reason) When mkdirs returns false I crash the program and log the following java.io.File properties, starting at the directory I want to create, then recursive printing properties of the parent directory and so on...
/sdcard/MyDirectory/Dir1/Dir2 (exists: false, canWrite: false, isDirectory: false, isFile: false);
/sdcard/MyDirectory/Dir1 (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/sdcard/MyDirectory (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/sdcard (exists: true, canWrite: true, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
/ (exists: true, canWrite: false, isDirectory: true, isFile: false);
The strange thing is that the parent directory is writable (canWrite=true), I can't print the execute file permission but from what I've read, write is what you need when creating directories... What I've looked at so far is the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission, if the sd card is full and if the sdcard is mounted read only:...........................

Jun 9, 2010I took the micro sd out of my old blackberry storm 2 and it was a 16gb, so i loaded it on my mac and erased all the files, and its still showing only 9.26gbs available?

May 2, 2010last week before getting the incredible i had 2 extra micro sd cards laying around. Today i have 4. Of course i got the free 2gb sd card with the phone, its still in the package. And today when i went to the verizon store to buy a car charger and the red and black gradient case they gave me a 4gb micro sd for free! So now i have 2 extra micro sd's that i didn't have last week. Not too bad. So for those who didn't know i guess verizon has a deal going on now where if you buy a car charger and case you get a free 4gb micro sd memory card. I"m not sure how much they retail for but its got to be at least worth $10-15. The case and the charger came to $50 + change. Just a heads up for those that need these accessories.

Jun 24, 2010From what I was told, the Inc supports 32gb microsd card. So I ordered a Sandisk one...class 4. I got it and tested it out. It seems like it can transfer/read small files....but anything big it wouldn't read properly. It's funny cuz a movie file would transfer and play...but if I delete it and transfer the same exact file over, it wouldn't play. Or if I transfer music, some files play and some wouldnt. And some even would merge into one file. Like one song would play and then all sudden another song would POP up like what a DJ does when they mix songs together.
I know I might have a defected one but this is a legit Sandisk card. So what else could be the problem? Should I transfer the file one or slower so the card can read it....is there a way or procedure to using a 32gb MicroSd card? Lol. I mean I have a 16gb right now and it reads and transfers fine. With the 16gb I can literally drag a folder of 10 movies and it would be fine.

Nov 13, 2010I just bought xperia 8 recently, a simple, fast yet functional phone. I couldn't figure out how to save files (games, apps) from the browser, play now, market etc. to the micro SD. All it does is download everything to the phone memory and it is getting full now (got tiny harddisk icon on top left screen). Couldn't find any solution in the User's guide - Short version.

Aug 9, 2010I have accepted that I just can't get a smart phone. I'm on VZW and have a enV touch, its driving me up a wall. (I also made it go swimming with me so that's problem why). So to cut things short, is it possible to take a Micro Sim card from AT&T put it in a adapter and put it in say, a nexus one or captivate? What id do is take the no-contract pre-paid data plan of the iPad 3G, most likely the 200MB/month for $15 and use Google Voice and other various VoIP clients to use as phone and GV for texts. I pretty much have WiFi where ever I go and pretty decent AT&T 3G in my area. Yes I know, it's just not that simple. Id have to change the APN on the device to att's broadband. Tweak a heck out the phone. 1.) Is it possible? Ive seen it done for a data only iPhone 2.) It is legal right?

Jul 25, 2012I installed a 32 GB micro SD card into my Samsung Galaxy SII. My device appears to recognize it in Settings | Storage since it shows Total space for the SD card as "29.71GB". However, I cannot figure how to browse to the card nor how to move files to it from within the Android OS. From within the My Files app, I cannot change directories from what appears to be the built-in memory since the "Up" icon is grayed out.
How do I access the microSD card by browsing to it and moving files to it?

When I run the app, the "Creating Home Directory..." toast notification displays, but the directory is not created... What am i doing wrong?? As in can I drag and drop copy the entire contents of my old micro SD card into my computer, then drag and drop copy the entire contents into a new micro SD card, and the applications will still work fine?
