HTC Droid Eris :: Got Data Programmed To All A Dif Carrier - How To Restore

Oct 6, 2010

Got an eris here programmed for alltel's data, i did it myself by changing values in the programming menu, i now have a droid x on my alltel i programmed and want to give the eris to my buddy on vzw how do i restore it back to factory defaults? Its activated but data doesn't work and calls are flaky and sms is flaky too.. A system restore of the phone doesn't return the programming menu of the phone back to verizon's default. Stays at alltels values. .. its running latest 2.1 vzw OTA.

I know that with my droid X if i flash the factory rom with a desktop computer to restore it with factory firmware it puts the radio back to default settings. How do i do this on an HTC?

Does HTC have a Desktop flash restore that i can download??

HTC Eris :: Need To Nandroid Restore Data Only

Jun 14, 2010

I am a droid user, but my wife has an eris and I am trying to get her phone from one of the 2.1 leaks to the official 2.1 OTA with root.I downloaded a "PlainJane" ROM from XDA which seems to be the 2.1OTA with an OC kernel, which sounded like exactly what I needed. So, I performed a nandroid backup of her phone as it is and then I went into the nandroid restore menu to see what my options were with the Amon recovery image. Turns out there was no "advanced" nandroid restore option like we have on Clockwork and SPRecovery on the Droid, so my original plan of wiping, installing the new ROM, and then restoring data was dashed. So, I attempted to just flash the new ROM on top of the 2.1 leak. This resulted in tons of FC's on boot up. I then rebooted the phone, did a full wipe, then installed the ROM. It then booted up just fine, but without any of her data of course.

That is no good though as I promised her I wouldnt lose her data (again, LOL). So, I then wiped again and proceeded to restore the nandroid backup I did before I started and now the phone is right back to where it was before all of this.OK, having said all of that, I really want to just wipe, install the ROM, then restore the data on top. Is that not possible on the Eris? Is there a different recovery image I should be using that will allow me to do this? I do it on my droid all the time and it makes swapping ROM's a breeze.

HTC Eris :: Carrier Name Change

Apr 4, 2010

So I read we can now change the carrier name from Verizon Wireless to anything we want with 16 char's. In the Droid, you edited the eri.xml file from the framework.apk. When I did this, I didnt see anything that said Verizon Wireless in HEX. Did a lil research and this seems to only apply to the Droid. Question I have is, has anyone found where we can edit this for the Eris.

HTC Eris :: How To Restore Market Links After NAND Restore?

Aug 9, 2010

Today the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup.
wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.

HTC Droid Eris :: Restore Files Using Sprite Mechanic

Mar 13, 2010

After following Matlock's post about upgrading to 2.1 I tried to restore all of my files using Sprite Mechanic. (Going back and re-reading his post he says that it doesn't work in 2.1-DOH). After installing Astro I tried re-installing Sprite Mechanic from the backup folder that I made with Sprite Mechanic thinking that was the way to get all of the back-up apps out of the back-up folder and onto the phone. I started Sprite Mechanic and proceeded to push the "Restore" tab and it brought up a list of all backed-up apps. I scrolled through them, deciding which ones I really wanted back and which ones I could do without, and then pushed the "Restore" button. Well, my phone froze up and would only display the status bar across the top. I tried pushing different buttons, but to no avail....

HTC Droid Eris :: Always Enable Mobile Data Function Causes Data Leakage?

Aug 21, 2010

Can anyone help explain what this does? I did a small search around the internet, and it came up with just about nothing. My first question is: I turned mobile data off, and yet, during the night, I was charged for data, so something leaked.Personally, I thought if this was because of this particular function. But maybe it was something else. So, I turned it off, but around the forums for other androids people seem to think that syncing doesn't work as well with this disabled.Does anybody know what might have happened? And could this function have been the thing that caused the leak. The leak, was actually for only 50 KB or so, but because I'm on Page Plus, it caused me to go under the required balance to refill of $29.95 and caused my plan to lapse. It's important for me for this not to happen again. Can anyone give any tips?

Motorola Droid :: Backup / Restore / Get My Files Restore?

Mar 7, 2010

I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.

General :: How To Restore Data With CWM

Jul 2, 2013

So I had my Epic 4g Touch running on ics 4.0.4 root and it was working totally fine, UNTIL....I decided to install the cyanogenmod 10.1 rom to see how jellybean 4.2.2 is all about. I followed the instructions exactly as they were depicted on a youtube video, and used clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.7 to backup my current rom (ICS 4.0.4). The 4.2.2 ran totally fine, until I tried restoring my data from the old rom I had before. After restoring the data, the jellybean rom would stay stuck in the boot up screen. Then I tried just restoring the entire rom from backup, my phone would just boot right back into custom recovery mode after completing the backup restore. I then tried restoring my phone to the old 4.0.4 root that I had before, but I would just run into the same problems whenever trying to do a full backup restore or just a data restore (phone just cycling back into custom recovery mode)

I can still look into my phone's eternal sd card and see that the recovery files are still there. I just need to restore my phone back because it would be a lot of trouble finding contacts, redownloading apps, as well I had some vital memo pad files that I really need to get back for my business. IS THERE ANY WAY I COULD RECOVER MY PHONE DATA????

General :: App Data Backup / Restore?

I'm going from an HTC Incredible 2 to a Galaxy Note 2 (both UNrooted). I have several apps that I don't want to lost my data for-high scores, levels, etc-and I can't figure out how to transfer all of that. I tried My Backup Pro, but it has to have root access to transfer data (It'll move the APK files, but really, I can do the same thing from the google play store!). I am so frustrated right now, because I love my new phone, but I REALLY don't want to have to start over on some of my apps. (I play several RPGs...lots of hours in those!) All of my apps came from the google play store. how I can transfer my data?

Fortunately all Contacts was restored, but all Calendar entry and all Notes was deleted, and She never perform a backup.

General :: How To Restore App-data Manually

Apr 4, 2014

I got a replacement Galaxy s3 through insurance and I had been using "GoBackup" to backup app and data. However it didn't appear to have restored any of the appdata. I believe it may have been restoring to /data/data/data/data instead of /data/data but when I tried to copy and paste the folders to their proper location the app won't work anymore. It will just say "unfortunately, app has stopped work" whenever I try to launch the app again.

I have also tried copying the appdata folder directly from a CWM backup and tried to paste it on the new phone under /data/data and this seemed to provide some results however after rebooting the phone the data gets wiped and it's back to as if the app was freshly installed.

P.S. The new phone has TWRP since it has the locked bootloader. So I couldn't just restore my CWM backup to it. The old phone got bricked trying to installed TWRP Recovery.

The problem is I can't figure out how not to restore data, every time I restore an app or a bunch of apps through TWRP my data is restored as well. All my email accounts come back, my memo pad notes etc and I think this is what is giving me buggy performance with my new rom.

KitKat 4.4 :: Backup And Restore User App Data

Nov 6, 2013

I've heard from numerous sources that 4.4 has a way to backup and restore user app data similarly to how the Google account syncs contacts, calendar events, etc.

Is this true? How to verify? This does seems unlikely, though, as app data is a dynamic thing, and can take quite a lot of space on the device.

If this is indeed true, ROM hopping just got 5000% a whole lot easier.
