View 1 RepliesGot an android phone used for develeopment/modifications over wifi, but am confused as to how the previous owners phone number still shows up in the Settings > About Phone > Status dialogue.

Got an eris here programmed for alltel's data, i did it myself by changing values in the programming menu, i now have a droid x on my alltel i programmed and want to give the eris to my buddy on vzw how do i restore it back to factory defaults? Its activated but data doesn't work and calls are flaky and sms is flaky too.. A system restore of the phone doesn't return the programming menu of the phone back to verizon's default. Stays at alltels values. .. its running latest 2.1 vzw OTA.
I know that with my droid X if i flash the factory rom with a desktop computer to restore it with factory firmware it puts the radio back to default settings. How do i do this on an HTC?
Does HTC have a Desktop flash restore that i can download??
I have programed my voice mail # to also dial my password when I call it. It clears to the default of *86 every so often.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm sick to death of my iPhone. It's been playing up to the point that using offline apps is about the extent to which I can use it half the time - calls drop/don't come through, messages don't send & the phone doesn't receive them either, the connection to the internet (Wi-Fi & cellular) suddenly drops & doesn't return unless I restart the phone...
I'm due an upgrade on my contract, and the two options with the right plans are the Samsung Galaxy S3 & Sony Xperia T, both of which have a reputation of being decent, if not fantastic phones (one more so than the other). I definitely want to go to android rather than stay on with another iPhone (which is another possible option), but I'm worried about it's compatibility with my computer.
I own a 2006 iMac which is currently running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard), which, despite only being released a few years ago and is more recent than Windows Vista, has been declared obsolete & is no longer receiving updates for any software (Flash, iTunes, Firefox, Chrome, etc.), so I'm concerned as to what may happen if I choose to switch to Android. I'm already struggling to keep my iPhone working well with the computer because of the fact that I can't even update it's software any more.
I do intend to update the software to Snow Leopard, and possibly Lion depending on whether my mac will accept it or not (the apple store assistants didn't really know anything about the 2006 model, one of whom didn't even know that the older white design existed -.- ). However, I'd like to get my phone before I upgrade.
1) Will my computer's current software (and future software) be able to effectively sync my android? & yes, I know this will require some third-party software to assist.
2) Which of the two phones would be better? My intentions are for browsing, social networking, texting, and listening to music.
I had a Huawei X5, and switched to a Huawei Ascend P1. Both have the same screen dpi, 240 and I have not changed it. However, the P1 has a higher resolution. That is the only difference I can find for this problem.
I can see and install all my apps from google play on the X5, but on the P1 they don't appear. On the web page it says it's incompatible and if I try to install the apk directly, it also does not allow.
What compatibility check is it failing? One example is google googles, I can install it just fine in my 7'' tablet and in my X5, but not in the P1.Is there anything I can do to bypass this check?
Do you think it could be rom related (I use official miui for the P1 and unofficial miui for the X5)?
Is there any manual / tutorial / guide related to compatibility of Android configuration files (build.prop, for example) between different android versions (ICS and JB for example)?
Is it possible to use optimized build.prop (or it's fragments) from JB inside ICS?
I install omega and foxHound 4.3 touchwiz and the game Modern Combat4 dont found, the game crash on splash "Modern Combat 4" and crashed!!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to upgrade my iPhone to the Desire, but I am concerned about syncing the phone with my PowerBook G4 running Mac OSX 10.4.11. I have read about syncing contacts through Gmail so this doesn't seem to be a problem. But my real concern is loading my music, podcasts and movies from iTunes onto the phone. Is this possible with OSX 10.4.11? Will my computer even recognise the Desire? I have read that other Android phones haven't even been recognised when connected via a USB cable. Has anyone synced the HTC Desire & Android 2.1 with a Mac running 10.4.11? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to get the phone!!

View 1 Replies View Related<supports-screens android:anyDensity="false" android:largeScreens="false" android:normalScreens="true" android:smallScreens="false" android:resizeable="false"></supports- screens>
first of all what is the resizeable attribute? It does not seem to be documented. This is working almost 90% for my game except when testing in WVGA screen resolution, all my images are scaled incorrectly, it is longer vertically than horizontally. I was expecting the screen compatibility to maintain aspect ratios as that of HVGA.
Also in my layout I have a scrollview and it is designed in such a way that in HVGA when it is not scrolled down, the items are hidden away, however now in WVGA those things are shown. If the aspect ratio of HVGA is maintained I won't have this issue. How can I make sure the aspect ratio is maintained? Also in my layout I am positioning some items using pixel positions. Should I convert these to dpi? How do I calculate what dpi they should be?
What is the recommended approach to have currently shipping 1.5-SDK compliant apps to start offering 1.6 features (such as TTL) in the Market? Can we just publish 2 versions of the same package name each compiled with a different SDK level (will the Market automatically push out only the right version of the app) or do we have to use different package name and assume that the user will find a way to understand the version of the OS he has. A public statement to the developper community would be more than welcomed here!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've found again my DevPhone1 (aka G1) on a shelf and though that this time I should really give it a try and create an app for it. But I've really lost touch with the Android world and now I don't know where to start really. There have been many SDK releases lately for many new and better devices. Which one of these can I use with G1? What is the most recent one which can be used on that hardware (although with reduced performance) but which will enable development for rather modern Android releases as well. The firmware update received today, while recharging the phone, is 1.6. Can I go higher with some R&D build?

I've got a question as I don't have an Android 2.0 device to test on and this particular aspect seems untestable in the emulator. I've got a service that needs to be run as a foreground service. I have a notification that stops it etc, so I have no problem using startForeground instead of setForeground. However, I'd like to have 1 version of my app that works across all platforms... Is this possible? If my app is compiled with Android 1.5 and uses setForeground, then will that command actually work on an Android 2.0 device, or does it not matter which sdk was used to compile? I've tried compiling with 2.0, and surrounding the call to startForeground with a try/catch, but that throws a VerifyError when the service is started, when run on a 1.5/6 device since startForeground doesn't exist there. Can I catch and ignore the VerifyError somehow and make it work that way?

Issue with the Evo, I can pair the Evo with my stereo and I even get the call notifications on the LDC when my Evo rings, but the calls simply do not go through the speakers. I can output audio through bluetooth, navigation, music all work, calls do not. Am I missing something in the bluetooth or phone settings or is there a compatibility issue with my car receiver?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that uses People provider. This is deprecated in version 2.0. I have built my application against API1.6 and set <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> Everything was fine until I wanted to run the app on Android 2.0. Not only is People deprecated it actually doesn't even work! So, I have changed the API I'm compiling against API2.0 and do the OS version check in my code and use People provider or ContactsContract accordingly. I still keep <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> so I can target 1.6 devices. Now when I want to debug in Eclipse it insists on running it on 2.0 emulator. How can I tell Eclipse that I really want to debug on 1.6 emulator? I have installed my APK on 1.6 emulator via the browser. It installed fine, but when I want to use People provider it crashes. I need to be able to debug it.

My question is how can you make sure your app works on all phones and not just the phone your are building and testing on? Is there a way to emulate a particular device?
