show user that program is loading and simultaneously ensure user doesn't do any changes. Setting all GUI elements not-usable and toast would be good except toast goes away after a period of time. I would like it to go away when loading is done.

My msg icon on the main screen showin 1 notification but when i click the icon there is no new message in my inbox.

i have to remove the battery and re-back it . i dont know why but, its very noisy
So quite frequently when every I go to answer a text message it will have a little loading circle. I'd like to switch to handcent or chomp but it didn't have pictures in the conversation view.

The widget seems to be working, but the "loading data please wait" message is still displayed in my notification drawer & the little circle of dots is still in the task bar up top.
I'm currently writing an Android app that should be able to communicate in real time with another app hosted in Google's app engine. Since I can't use sockets in GAE, I though maybe using XMPP over GTalk server would solve my problem. But that way the Android app would be connected to the users account and thus showing the user as being online, when in reality the user is not. Any way of achieving this kind of communication without showing the user as being online?

When the user presses submit button, it takes him to the default email client and prefills the email address, subject etc. ("mailto:") When the user presses Send, my application appears and I thank the user for giving feedback. However, how can I tell if the user has pressed the Discard button and did not send the email?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created an application that show around 250 images in ImageView. Images are loaded one after another, 15-30 images per second. Basically the whole thing gives an illusion of a rotating 3D object, at least it should.
The problem is next, app hangs when loading certain images(i.e. I see a few seconds of fluid animation and then animation hangs, jump 10-15 frames(images) ahead and continues. It always happens at the same places in animation cycle.
I though that Android might not have enough resources to handle something like this, so I've resized images to half their size, but it did't help. I've tried buffering images but that did't help either(actually, maybe a little, I think that animation looks a little bit smoother).
And now the weirdest thing. I use the touch screen to allow users to "rotate" the 3D object on those images, and while rotating I again experience those hangs at exactly the same places as with the animation.
All images are in .png format and their size vary from 15kB to 40kB.

I guess i deleted a sms thread while receiving a text from that person so now my phone always says like 2 unread messages in my notification bar when there is only one and I cannot figure out how to get it to stop doing this. I've battery pulled, deleted all threads and it is still there. I am using stock messaging app.

I use handcent and every once in a while if I get a text and I unlock my phone and open the message before it stops vibrating ill see the first few words on the preview bar but when the handcent finnaly opens the message wont be there. its happend to me prolly 10 times now and kinda sucks asking people to resend the message. It only seems to happen when I open everything quickly, and also once in a while if its doing a function like closing handcent and I hit the power button before it fully closes the phone will restart which also is kinda anoying.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA couple days ago i noticed my phone was silent, which is pretty unusual.I decided to check and see if i had any messages, hit the power button, and saw no little message icon waiting for me. I figured no one had texted me so i moved on. About a half hour later i checked again only this time went in to the messages app thingie and had three unread messages, all of which had come up within the last thirty minutes.Ive been checking it more often now and it does vibrate, but the little icon doesnt stay up long/at all. Any idea what im doing wrong? Its getting kinda annoying not knowing if i have a message or something.

Then tonight on the way home I got an email, read it, and the notification went away, but in my Gmail it still showed "Inbox (1)" but the email showed as read. I synced it twice, but it stayed the same way. When I got home tonight, I logged on to my email and it showed the email as unread. I just downloaded Twidroid Pro and Google Goggles, so I'm wondering which of these is the culprit.

After the update, the factory-installed Voicemail icon was showing that "Couldn't load widget" message. I removed and replace it without a problem. This morning, I got a voice message and now it doesn't show the new message count in the icon.
Not a big deal, but I guess that means they updated that app (current version is V.5.1.0.30). I was hoping they would at least improve the recording quality by providing options for raising the recording frequency so it doesn't sound so "tinny".

I've looked through the documentation and I can't seem to figure out how to have the screen blured/greyed when I select an activity that may take a while to load.
This seems to be an Android standard (both the Camera app and the Camcorder app do it when first selected), but I don't see any documentation on it. I even tried looking through the source of these apps on git, but couldn't seem to find it.
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

My problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
