My phone when in vibrate mode doesnt vibrate when i receive a text, but does if i receive a call, all settings are as they should be for it to vibrate....
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe vibrate for my notifications keeps turning off by itself. I downloaded sound manager and using this app I can turn it back on, but a little while later it is already turned off again.
I'm thinking it must be an app turning it off, but I have gone through each one and can't for the life of me figure out what is causing this.
I did a hard reset after 2.2 and it went away for a few days but now its happening again.
I'll be talking on the phone and might receive a text message or gmail from someone. My phone immediately vibrates twice to notify me. Not only is this unpleasant when I have the phone to my ear, but it's also an annoyance to the person I'm talking to as they hear the vibrate sounds. In fact any time I'm talking to my girlfriend and my phone vibrates, she asks "who is texting you now?" I really just want the notification turned off while I'm on a call. Is there a way to prevent this from happening while on the phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow strong is the vibrate mode on the Evo? I currently have a Hero and I miss calls all the time because it vibrates so weakly. This is huge for me because I actually leave my ringer off most of the time. Anybody had any problems with it? Anybody own a Hero previously and know what I'm talking about?
My Evo should be arriving in the mail Monday. I'm excited, but I will have to seriously consider returning it if I have to keep telling my girlfriend that I didn't feel her phonecall.
I'm the kind of person that always wants their phone on vibrate mode. The problem is that if i accidentally tap the volume up button it goes to either silent or the ringer is enabled. Is there a way to always keep it in vibrate.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love my Incredible. One thing I can't seem to figure out is how to have my phone in vibrate and be able to know when I receive an SMS or email message. I was reading up on the Moto Droid and nexus one forums but the fixes they had (outside of just using an entirely different app for SMS) didn't seem to apply to the incredible. I set it to vibrate but it only seems to vibrate when it rings, not when it's set solely to vibrate.
So I ask, is it possible to receive a vibrate notification of an SMS or email when the phone is in vibrate mode? If I'm at a movie or something, I like knowing if I got a message.
Back when I had my LG Envy, I could set it to rign and vibrate at the same time, cause at time I am in a load area and cannot hear the ring. Can I set my Ally to Ring and Vib at the same time?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my droid x last week and I like it. I only have a couple problems. One I can't seem to getnmy phone to vibrate when receiving txts or calls when in silent mode. I went into settings and I have vibrate set to only vibrate in silent mode but it doesn't.Also it may be just me but it seems like other phones I have the in call volume was extremely loud. My old phone I could hear the person clear as day even holding the phone away from me. With the droid x I have volume maxes out but its not white as loud. Its not that bad I can still hear but I was just wondering. My other speakers such as media work great and are extremely loud. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't get a little vibration when I receive an email/text message when the phone is set to vibrate mode? I'm the kind of guy who likes to set his phone to vibrate, put it in his pocket, and only (or mostly) take it out when a notification arrives.
View 18 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to increase the intensity of the vibrate mode on the Incredible. We tend to shoot people in meetings when their phone rings and the vibrate mode is so suttle I don't even feel it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe one problem i've not been able to resolve is when i take phone out of my pocket, i often hit the volume control button, which takes the phone out of vibrate mode and turns on the ringer. has anyone found an override or another fix for this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAny way to quickly hit a button to mute the phone when you go to sleep? Don't like my phone ringing when I am sleeping. On my G2 I just hold the power button and the mute option pops up. Or if I power on I can slide it to the right which mutes the phone. Side it left and it powers on. My gf has the HTC Desire Z I cant seem to find it. Only way I found out was to adjust the volume to lowest setting but this takes time there must be an easier way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've encountered a very strange problem for programmatically turning on/off the airplane mode.I'm aware that it's one of the secure settings, and my app is a system app that is correctly signed.
However, I'm not able to correctly turn on/off the airplane mode.I have the following codes: (checked value is from onCheckedChanged callback of a check box UI)
int isAirplaneModeOn = checked ? 1 : 0;
Settings.Global.putInt(mContext.getContentResolver(), Settings.Global.AIRPLANE_MODE_ON, isAirplaneModeOn);
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_AIRPLANE_MODE_CHANGED);
intent.putExtra("state", checked);
mContext.sendBroadcast(intent);
The line where it calls Settings.Global.putInt(....) works, because we can see that the airplane mode's check box in the android's settings app will changes as we change this value from our app, so we know that our app is indeed a system app. Otherwise, it will throw a SecurityException at this line.
However, we're getting "Permission Denial: not allowed to send broadcast android.intent.action.AIRPLANE_MODE", at the line where it calls mContext.sendBroadcast(...). I have no idea why this fails while Settings.Global.putInt works.
One last note is that we're using Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).
The screen on my wife's phone (Samsung Epic 4g) died and so we are trying to move the data off the phone. Normally, you press the "Turn on USB storage" button to see the storage when connected to a computer. Since the screen is dead, that is not possible.
Is there a way to initiate USB storage mode from the computer?
Phone will not vibrate when I receive emails, SMS, or gTalk messages if I put it in Vibrate Only mode. Phone calls do vibrate. In settings for each of those apps, I have a check mark in the Vibrate box. My Vibrate mode *used* to work, but when I uninstalled Quick Profiles it seems to have killed vibrations for everything except phone calls.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIf you set something, let's say messages, to vibrate, it vibrates even when the phone isn't in vibrate mode. In other words, in normal mode - you'll get an audible alert and vibrate. If you turn off vibrate for messaging, then switch the phone profile to vibrate, the phone doesn't vibrate for messages. So it seems like it's all or none - vibrate always on, or always off. Is this what others have found? I tried installing Quick Profiles and creating profiles but the behavior is the same. Is there an app that has more granular control and can actually control vibrate?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to have a motorola droid and one of the features that I really liked on the unlock screen there was a silent feature which is still there on my droid x where I could put the phone in silent mode. That's great but I want a vibrate option also. On my droid I could login and use the volume down key and the volume would go down on the ringer and then it would go into vibrate all mode, and then silent mode. On my droid x it goes straight into silent mode without a vibrate all mode. Where is my vibrate all mode? I want it back!
View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems like froyo broke the option to have a ring mode, silent mode, AND a vibrate mode separately?
Personally, I'd like to be able to be notified discretely in social situations without having the ring on, BUT also the convenience of being able to turn everything off with a quick swipe. The vibrate is pretty dang loud.
Has anyone noticed that Silent mode - when accessed via the Widget that comes up when the power button is held - also turns vibrate off. One would think vibrate should stay on to alert an incoming call "silently"
I've been using Menu> Settings> Sound and Display to turn sound off and leave vibrate on. Does anyone know an easier way ?
I used this app on my original Motorola Droid and loved it, but I have noticed some problems with it on the Incredible. I'm wondering if it's just me or if anyone else has had these problems as well.
1. LED Light does not change color. No matter what color I set the LED light to in the Handcent app, it always just blinks green. This isn't necessarily a huge deal, but I liked having my text messages blink a different color than my emails and other notifications.
2. LED light does not always blink and screen does not turn on. I noticed that the LED light only flashes once in a while, no matter what type of blink setting I choose. Also, the screen does not turn on when I get a text even though I have the box checked that is supposed to enable the screen to turn on despite having the popup box disabled. Once again, not a huge deal, but it would be nice if these things worked since I got used to these features on the Droid.
3. Phone does not vibrate at all when in Vibrate mode. Ok, this one is a huge deal. No matter which vibrate settings I choose, the phone will not vibrate when I receive a text if the phone is in vibrate mode. I am missing tons of texts now because I need to have my phone silent for most of the day. I checked the recent reviews of the app and didn't see anyone complain about this, so I don't know if there is just something wrong with my phone or if the app just isn't very compatible with the Incredible.
anyway we can put this phone in vibrate mode quickly?maybe install a lockscreen like the droid x so with a quick slide you can put the phone in vibrate? i move from an iphone and the rocker that did that on the phone is sorely missed.is there any alternative out there?i just dont want to unlock the phone -> set to vibrate -> lock the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got the update to 2.2 on my Droid and I am having a slight issue. Usually whenever I go to school, I would put my Droid in silent mode and then when done I put it into vibrate mode. Now with the update it seems that I cannot do this. Here are the options that I want. What must I do to get them:
Vibrate mode: Vibrate for incoming calls, texts, emails, etc.
Silent mode: No vibration or sound for anything at all.
I just noticed that while my phone is in vibrate mode, there is no audio from any of the media players (Pandora, Cube 3, etc). This is both out of the speaker and headphone jack. I realized it because I plugged my phone in and tried to listen to Pandora after a meeting I had. The phone was still on vibrate, and no sound was coming out of the speakers I had plugged in. Putting the phone into normal ring mode rather than vibrate mode made the music start playing again. I realize that ringtones are basically audio files, so it makes sense that this the default operation, but I just thought I would ask if everyone else experiences this or if there is some setting I can change on my phone to make music play even when the vibrate mode is active.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen phone is on silent or vibrate mode it should also mute the speaker from playing music or multimedia. An app to link the speaker output to the vibrate mode of phone would be great! Silent mode = muted speaker.
Uses: When listening to music with your headphones on, and you get a call, the music stops. You unplug your headphones to take the call. When the call ends, the music instantly begins to play again, except this time it comes blasting out of your speakers since your headphones were unplugged!
It would be nice to not have to have a separate control. I use a widget to turn my phone on silent mode. So using this same widget to turn the vibrate on and mute speaker would be sweet. I don't think it would be as easy as just muting the multimedia volume because that also controls the headphone volume. So it would have to be speaker output control.
I have a Razr M on CM10.1 - 4.2.2, and Facebook Mesesnger vibrates even during silent mode when I get a message.I would think Silent Mode overwrites any app priorities, but I guess not.
I have a tasker profile to set my phone to silent mode between 10pm and 9am only if the phone is plugged in, so my phone is on silent all night, but if I get a random facebook message, I wake up to the vibration.
When i receive a message, it automatically changes the setting of my phone to Vibrate mode.
I turn it off and set it to normal, when i receive an SMS it changes to Vibrate and i dont hear my ringtone. I'm using CM10
Here is a screenshot of what happens.
Set to Normal.
after i receive a notification
So I just got my captivate & went to do the OTA update & when it went to install it the said install failed rebooting phone & then it went black & has not started since it doesn't do anything no matter what I do or how I plug it in. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have tried all the methods of getting the phone into recovery mode, but as i said it will not even start.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got the Hero today and I am very annoyed by the SMS feature of displaying the text message on the screen. It seems that I can either have absolutely no notification of a new text message or I can have this major intrusion of privacy by having the message displayed for all to see. I hand my phone to people constantly to use at my job sites. I trust they are not fishing around in my phone, but when it just shows up on the screen, how can they help but read it. Is there a privacy mode or a way of turning off that display bar?
