View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is something I have wondered about Android OS/Hero/Sprint since day one of my purchase, but I have never brought it up here. When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.

View 38 Replies View RelatedI've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem.I've been using the built-in Mail app on my Hero for the last month with my Yahoo e-mail account (it's a Plus account, using the POP settings provided by Yahoo)...with zero issues. Yesterday, I noticed that I wasn't receiving new messages anymore. I've got the program set to update every hour, and even when manually clicking refresh, the phone would not download any new e-mail messages from my account (and wouldn't send either). There were no error messages though, it appeared to be synced up (the time would show up next to the sync symbol in the top left corner of the app.I knew my settings were correct, so I figured I would just try to delete the account and set it up again. I selected "delete account" and after giving confirmation, the message on the screen said that it was deleting the account but it never finished. The program wouldn't do anything, figured I'd try to force it to close with my task killer but Mail didn't even show up as running. Next step...shut the phone down and powered it back on. Opened Mail up and the account was no longer showing, however there is still some memory of it somewhere as when I attempt to set it up again it tells me that there is already an account with that e-mail address.I can get around that by setting up a new account and changing one character in my address until all the settings are entered in (and then go back and change it), but I'd like to find out if I can address this problem head on (without a hard reset).

So here is my question, under Menu>Settings>Social Network> Facebook appears there. I have that set to update every 12 hours.
HOWEVER, my actual Facebook App is set to update every 2 hours.
So... does the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook control my facebook app or just the bookmark that comes pre-installed on the phone?
I am trying to save battery life, and I noticed that the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook were set to update every hour, but I had the settings under the downloaded app to update every two hours. My goal is to have only one facebook medium updating so I don't drain battery life!
Is anyone having an issue with yahoo messenger on the HTC hero? It worked well at first - but now it doesn't. Specifically - I can log in - but none of my contacts pop up. In addition, I can send IM's from my phone - but I can't receive them.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, since day one ( 27 days ago ) My Sprint HTC Hero has worked flawlessly with my free Yahoo email acct. I just went to the email widget, typed in my email address and password, and it autoconfigured the imap settings. Worked like a charm. Yesterday it decided to "authentification failed, please verify your username/password"
Well, although my un/pw were right, I changed my pw just to be sure I wasnt being a dumbass, no luck. I googled the problem and heard some people changed to pop3 so I tried those settings, no luck. I even tried changing my preferred location to asia, lol, no luck.
I see this has been a problem for a LOT of people since the beginning, but whats really bothering me is I had yahoo for a month...problem free. So whats the deal with this? I am NOT paying for yahoo. this crap makes me crabby!
I just cleared all my browsing history, cache, form data and all that stuff. Then I went to my bookmarks, where I have the touch.facebook.com bookmarked. I type in my username and password and tap the "login" key. I see the green status bar at the bottom of the screen start to go, but the page just loops. It does not login. Just keeps refreshing... if that makes sense. What am I doing wrong ?

I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.
So, I installed the N1 News and Weather App and find it to be awesome!
My question...are there any other apps from the N1 or other android phones that will work on the Hero?

View 19 Replies View RelatedEver since I flashed to this ROM, I haven't been able to sync none of my contacts through the People app even though it says "all contacts synced" within Accounts & Sync. When I try to match a contact with their facebook account, "no matches" show and I don't even have a list of who I can choose.
Does this have something to do with the PRL not being 60663? Mines says 60662. I've tried every solution that was said in the forums. Delete then restart then readd the account. Still nothing.
Should I just reflash? I don't want to but my contacts look so boring without their pictures and statuses
Is seems like only contacts I have saved in my Google contacts are being linked. I thought The Hero would sync all information from my Facebook contacts. So even if I have not saved them I would be able to access their information on my phone, similarly to Palm's Synergy. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it works?

anyone experience this within the last hour or so?I noticed that i had to sign back into my account on "Social Networking" in settings, but nothing is syncing back up. they are all still sync'd (if you go into a contact on the computer, there is a "note" in the "notes" section showing the link), but nothing is showing up. I'm guessing eventually it will download everything again and I just need to give it time, and I'm also sure it's a Facebook issue thing, since they just updated and tweaked their UI, but i was curious if anyone else noticed this.
