I have been reading some of these threads and alot of them say i need to be running a 2.7 version or something like that for my "Build" version. I have the 1.5 firmware and i know the 2.1 hasnt been released yet but how do i update the Build and other things like that?

Hero users should do is check that you have the latest Rom Build. I read on the HTC website that for my Unlocked GSM Hero I should have 2.73.xxx.x. My phone says I have 2.3, I think (It actually says, "MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.3 Core"). What steps do I take to update my ROM build?
Part 2 of this question: My phone is running on 1.5, and I've heard people saying that 2.1 is now widely available for the non-Sprint Hero, and being "pushed" in most parts of the world. (I purchased my phone in the states, and brought to Israel this week where I'm now using it.) I don't have any particular service for it other than regular cellphone service with a Cellcom SIM card. Is there a way I can actively download the 2.1 to my phone, or do I just have to "wait"?
I am wondering if I am on the newest firmware / software for my Hero (Sprint) I went to Settings / About Phone / System Updates etc .. downloaded a update... It now saysmy firmware version is 1.5 and software version is 1.56.651.2 not really sure but I thought I was reading people are on version 2.0 and higher not sure but anyway do Ihave to go to the Sprint website or the HTC website for the newer version if there is in fact one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had a problem with their emails not updating at the time interval they have it set to (or at all) since the update? At first, no matter how many times I refreshed, my new mails were not showing up. I tried deleting my email account from my phone and then adding it back. This fixed the problem for a day or two, but now I am having emails show up twice in the inbox, and my phone will update basically whenever it wants to. I only realized this, because every time I have checked my mail on my computer I have 5-10 emails more than are showing up on my phone. WTH?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted the phone a while back and was using fresh 1.1, probably over a month ago. Recently I've been missing incoming text messages and now not receiving my exchange emails, so I figured I'd go ahead and update to 2.0d (sticking with fresh). I downloaded the zip and flashed it but it didn't boot up (waited over 30 minutes) it just stayed on with the animated HTC text. Multiple attempts with the same results. Even tried Damagecontrol 2.08 and it boots and and I even get the sprint animated logo but stays at the htc "quietly brillant" and goes no further.

This has happened with Pandora, Key Ring Finder, Audio Manager and countless other apps. With some other apps, after updating the application, it will work fine, but the name will change to something odd like com.chompsms.Well, i was reading through Key Ring Finder update and realized that something is occuring specifically with the HTC Hero that is causing this with application updates.But there is a ::drum roll please:: workaround! When updating an app, do not select the 'update' option! This is where the programs become corrupt. Instead, click 'uninstall', then reinstall the application. The freshly installed copy will work perfectly!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone (HTC Hero 200 running 2.1) a few days ago, went with Fresh 2.1, but after having some trouble with WiFi Tethering I opted for Damage Control. I did a lot of searching online and found Damage Control 0.999999% and installed it on my phone. It is working okay for the most part, but I found out that there are a number of 2.0 versions out there so I decided I wanted to update to a new version.
1) Version 2.09.1 would not load (and I read that it was unstable so I removed it and rolled back.
2) I went with version 2.08.1 and when I rebooted the phone it would get stuck on the boot-up screen and would not go any further (I went in, wiped the phone, went back to the initial Kernel I installed (2.6.29-8f4e5478 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1), but it still wouldn't work.
3) I research other Damage Control ROMS and went with 2.06.1 Lite to download the DCUpdater, thinking that if I went with this edition I would use it to get to 2.08.1, but same result as before.
Do I need to download a new Kernel? Do I need to start from scratch and root my phone all over again?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI know this is a rather odd question, but, I know that on the damageless rom, it defaults to locate for GSM Radio Towers. Now, I know there is two HTC Hero devices, The Eris (GSM Version) and the Hero (CDMA Version), however the ability to search for different towers in the Damageless rom has me intrigued on if it is possible at all.
Why I ask is, I am going out of the country, specifically to the carribean islands and mexico. I am wondering if it is at all possible to use it like that. I really doubt it because I don't think that the CDMA version is backwards compatible with the GSM version, but I thought I might as well ask.
My application needs to compile into different version, from 1.5 to 2.1. The development environment is eclipse. I don't want to have different source code or project for each version. How could I do it?

Mine reads "DT10.04.26" I have a Version 2 Not exactly sure what the DT means, but the other numbers mean it was manufactured on 4/26/10. The DT could be the place of manufacturing? Or the line. i just discovered that in the ROM manager app you can update your clockworkmod recovery version, i updated to v2.5.0.1 and when i boot into recovery mode it looks completely different now, its a different color green, its got different options, and instead of pressing home as the ok you have to scroll down past like 7 no's to get to yes. is it supposed to be like this and should i always keep it updated? is there anything else i should always check updates for? im running froyo nightlys on a (sprint) cdma htc hero with google
