View 8 Replies View RelatedI never had this problem until upgrading to 2.1. I have my clock process excluded in my task manager, I check the volume level every night through Audio Manager and even in the clock app - and it is not going off. I set alarms for everything, so this is very frustrating.
I can set a test alarm for two minutes from now and it will go off with no issues at full volume. But if I leave it alone for awhile, the alarm won't go off. I think the most reasonable thing to assume here is that it has something to do with the clock not updating until you turn the phone on. I don't know what to do.
My wife and I are enthusiastic users of the Sprint Hero. I'm fascinated by the unbelievable level of functionality over the LG Rumor I was using before. However, I'm a newbie to smartphones and would like to know what the ROM 1.1 upgrade is all about and what benefits can be expected. I've read the post about how to do it....just want to know why.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore upgrading to 2.1 I was able to use MP3 songs as ring tones, so for the people I associate a song with, I recognize who is calling before looking... Am I missing something, or is this capability gone with 2.1? Was there a market place app I was running that I forgot to reload, or is this feature just gone?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I upgraded to 2.1 a couple of days ago and I think it's possessed my phone! My ringer keeps going off and there's no one calling. And I can't figure out how to hang up from a call now! It's also so slow when I click on someone to call. Sometimes it just sits there until it finally starts to make the call. Any suggestions? Oh and my shapewriter does not work nearly as well as it did on the 1.5. Do you think this is something that will get worked out or are we destined to deal with the bugginess of the 2.1?

Since others haven't mentioned about it I am not sure if it is happening for me only? I also notice that the menu for changing NAM is not seen in 2.1 - Is anyone else who upgraded to 2.1 also noticing it?##786# is opening the menu but not ##778# which used to work on 1.5
View 2 Replies View RelatedVersion 2.5 of Dolphin is now available in the market. For those upgrading, make sure you have backed up your bookmarks, as the upgrade blows them away. Also make sure you've saved the URL of your home page.I have mine backed up in Google Bookmarks so I can easily reload them into Dolphin.Version 2.5 is really nice, so far, with a simplified menu, better colors and visuals and the return of the scroll indicator.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to decide about either keeping my current HTC Hero (Firmware Version 1.5) or switching to the iPHONE. On the iPHONE, I am trying to figure out if I want the new iTOUCH or the new iPHONE. The problem is, the decision is dependent on my HTC Hero.I like the Hero, but it just feels like something is "Lacking" or "Missing." But I can't explain it.I have read on these forums here and there about how people have rooted there phone and how amazing it works and is compared to the official firmware out there.I don't know much about rooting when it comes to Android. The closest thing I can think of that might be similar in nature is when I had a jailbroken iPOD TOUCH.So now I am trying to figure out, to make my current HTC Hero "Better" or check it out the way it was meant to be, do I root it, or do I officially upgrade to 2.1?If you happen to recommend rooting, I am hoping there is a simple way of doing it. If I am not mistaken, I believe there are multiple version to root to, so which one do I use and how do I go about rooting to it?

I'm looking for a little bit of opinion and a little bit of inside info (if anybody's got any) with regards to upgrading hardware. As everyone is aware, the Hero came out in October 2009, meaning that in a few short weeks, anyone who purchased the Hero at launch (at least those with "Premium" standing) is eligible for a hardware upgrade. I have been on the fence about pulling the trigger on upgrading to an Evo (as I'm sure quite a few people are as well). I've taken a look at some of the pros and cons and I'm still weighing my decision on those. I'm not going to go into the pros and cons because that's not the goal of this post. I understand fully that technology, especially in the world of smartphones, is a very fluid animal and that "the next big thing" is always around the corner. No matter what you do, anytime you purchase a phone/computer/etc, it's obsolete within 3-4 months, and sometimes sooner. I can accept that. What I would like to avoid, is upgrading my phone and on the 31st day (the day after you can return it) have Sprint announce that the next big thing is around the corner and will be released in November/December. I've done some research over the past few weeks, and I can't seem to find any information on any new phones coming to Sprint, so I was hoping that the fine people in the forum could provide guidance. I haven't even really heard any rumors with regards to the next Android phone coming to Sprint.
View 49 Replies View RelatedWhen I purchase a new SD card, what is the easiest way to transfer everything to the new card? Should I use some backup app or just mount the 2 cards on the computer and copy all files from one card to the other? Does it matter? I am also curious how to backup the entire device prior to the 2.0 update coming. It seems like the 2.0 update will require flashing the phone. I assume it will erase everything? I wonder if sprint will provide an easy way to "upgrade" to 2.0 without losing everything on the phone.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI know this is a rather odd question, but, I know that on the damageless rom, it defaults to locate for GSM Radio Towers. Now, I know there is two HTC Hero devices, The Eris (GSM Version) and the Hero (CDMA Version), however the ability to search for different towers in the Damageless rom has me intrigued on if it is possible at all.
Why I ask is, I am going out of the country, specifically to the carribean islands and mexico. I am wondering if it is at all possible to use it like that. I really doubt it because I don't think that the CDMA version is backwards compatible with the GSM version, but I thought I might as well ask.
The Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.
