Jun 13, 2010What is the most stable overclockable rom that you know of? I initially thought overclocking didn't do anything, but after using it more and more I noticed that it does make the phone a lot smoother. I tried FRESH Toast 2.1. but it is just too buggy (I used OC widget). Does anyone know of a stable 2.1 overclockable rom that I can use for everyday without a lot of problems? Right now I am using Fresh 2.1.2 and I would have to say it is more stable than the stock 2.1 from sprint I installed a few weeks ago, but I am wanting a little more juice out of it with a similar amount of stability (fresh has given me NO problems).

Apr 23, 2010I have Fresh 1.1 installed on my hero for the last few months and think its great. The problem is alot of apps i cannot get since i dont have 1.6 or higher and i guess some apps need higher than that.

Jun 10, 2010Are there any 100% stable and functional overclocked ROMs out now? When I say stable and functional I mean no phone app crashes on incoming calls and multimedia messaging works as well. I loved how fast and stable Fresh1.1 was, but all the OC'd 2.1 ROM's I've tried have at least a few problems.

Sprint HTC Hero : Get Swype Beta Even Though It's Closed?
Jul 20, 2010I just got a Sprint Hero and I'm coming from Palm phones that always had physical keyboards. At this point in time--I've had it for about a week--it's frustrating beyond words to peck away on the virtual keyboard, slow as molasses, with about as much accuracy as a two year old trying to spell.
I know Swype would help immensely. Is there any way to get it even though the beta is closed? Would begging and bribing the makers of swype help? I really want a virtual keyboard for a number of reasons, but the stock keyboard on the Hero is terrible.

Aug 19, 2010I have noticed on some threads that people were having issues with their widgets and Swype on the Cyanogen Froyo ROM. I was having this issue as well. Whenever I rebooted my phone I would have to make Swype my default keyboard again, and reinstall certain widgets. But I think I have found a solution. I noticed that Swype and some of these widgets had been stored on the SD card instead of on the phone. So I went into my settings and into application management and moved them over to the phone. That seemed to solve the issue. Give it a try and see if that fixes your problem, if you were having it.

Jul 5, 2010I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

What I really need the phone to be able to do is voice calling, text, email, web browsing, etc. I'm not a power user, so I don't think I'd use the full power of the Evo anyway, so that's another reason to stick with the Hero.And if I understand correctly, I'd be eligible for upgrade pricing after 1yr with Sprint.

Mar 26, 2010I rooted quite awhile back; I think it is Fresh 1.1.It worked fine.This morning it started spontaneously rebooting and is saying com.google.process.gapps. has stopped and all apps have forced close. Nov 4, 2009I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?
