View 4 RepliesI just got a Sprint Hero and I'm coming from Palm phones that always had physical keyboards. At this point in time--I've had it for about a week--it's frustrating beyond words to peck away on the virtual keyboard, slow as molasses, with about as much accuracy as a two year old trying to spell.
I know Swype would help immensely. Is there any way to get it even though the beta is closed? Would begging and bribing the makers of swype help? I really want a virtual keyboard for a number of reasons, but the stock keyboard on the Hero is terrible.
Every time I install the new swype beta and I restart my phone, it wont let me use it. I download it legitimately from there website with my user name and everything.

View 13 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, new swype beta still makes you deactivated it and reactivate it each time you power down phone. Also still brings up stupid message about new words replacing old words.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI signed up for the beta testing a while back. Got this link in an email update from Swype. You have to uninstall swype and the old installer first. Access it from your Android phone. https://beta.swype.com/android/get/

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is for those of you that were using the one build of the Swype Beta that actually worked for the Ally (up until last week, when it expired). There is a new beta floating around (version 2.4.44.10912.t100), however, when installed on the Ally, it instantly locks you out with a message that this version wasn't made for your phone.I read somewhere that in the past, you could fix this by modifying the Swype apk to contain an older "license.dat" file (such as the one from the open beta). With this new version however, Swype will FC instantly if it was installed from a resigned apk.Out of curiosity, I extracted the files from within "classes.dex" and started poking around. In one of the files, I found this line.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI received the following email from androidplayground.net today and thought I'd pass it along. I installed and it works. Enjoy. The company Swype has an open beta for Android users of their Keyboard Swype. It is currently free. All you need to do is visit Swype | Text Input for Screens and create an account. It has really made typing on the phone easy! You should check it out if you do not already have it on your phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI looked around and couldn't find anything specific to an un-rooted N1. I used to have the original leaked version of Swype and it worked fine. I downloaded the Swype Beta when it came out and have been having all kinds of problems with if freezing. I've tried un-installing and re-installing and it still happens. Can someone tell me how to fix it or post a link to the original leaked version?
View 12 Replies View RelatedSwype beta users check your email, there's an update waiting for you. You have to uninstall the old first. Seems to work great with Froyo now.
View 49 Replies View RelatedWell, just got the expired swype message yesterday. I registered on swype, got the activation email, but when I clicked the link on the phone I see a screen that says, Sorry! This is not an Android phone. DINC btw.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe swype beta installation instructions note that you must uninstall all previous versions of swype before installing the beta. Since the Droid X comes with a pre-installed version of swype, does this mean that we (Droid X users) cannot install the swype beta, or is there some other workaround?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI know this may belong in the applications forum but check it out...look at androidcentral.com and you can register for the beta app of swype for android!
View 49 Replies View RelatedI know this is a dumb question but is there anyone who got in on the swype beta and are not using their beta sign-in info. to actual test out swype? If so and if you don't mind I would really like to try it out and assist in the beta and try the software out.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.
View 30 Replies View RelatedI got an email from the folks at Swype about their new updated Beta. Anyone have this yet? I think mine functions pretty well now so I don't want to change it. If this is even better though then that would be sweet.
View 34 Replies View RelatedCan anyone grab the most recent version for me, and perhaps email it (I'll give my address if I get a positive response) - I want to see if once I have the installer, I can download the apk. *sigh*
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I update swype to the latest beta? It says I need to remove the current version first but since it is included in the X, how do I do this? Do I just rename or delete the apk with root explorer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the email saying that there was an update for the swype beta. In order to update you have to uninstall the installer and the keyboard. I am on bhmans take 5 so i removed it from system/app and wiped the data then attempted to install it and it wont even open it just force closes constantly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get this latest swype beta since i've never used swype before. I've got my email and when I click the link it says that I'm not running on an android phone... Could this be an issue with 2.1v3. I noticed another poster had the same issue and he's also on the leak. Is anyone else having the same problem or am I just SOL?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe latest Swype Beta version is 2.4.44.10912.t100, however my Fascinate shipped with 1.63.39.8794. Can I install the Swype beta alongside this pre-installed one or is it going to seriously mess something up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got an email this morning about the release of a new swype beta. I followed the directions and when I try to change inputs an error message pops up stating the screen resolution doesn't match. Anyone get this email and the error? I made sure I uninstalled my previous swype before installing the new one.
View 18 Replies View RelatedAfter the 2.1 update. I found out swype beta was closed. Does anyone know how I can get it.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was using Swype before the public beta was released. Registered, downloaded and installed Swype, public beta version.
It is not stable on my phone. As recommended by developers, I have deleted the app, the installer, and re-did the whole thing but it still does not work. Every time after I use the phone -- get a call or make a call -- Swype stops working. At the end of swyping a word, it just gives a visual and audio notification, like it used to when the license expired on the pre-beta version.
Any one having similar experience or successfully using Swype beta on Samsung Moment with stock Android 2.1?
Import another language (e.g. dutch) into swype beta? Is it possible?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am on a non rooted droid incredible. I have the newest version of the swype beta, and I noticed everytime I reboot my phone and I try to write something in swype the keyboard will just flash or something and it wont put in what I tried to write, and it will do this until I change my default input method back to the HTC keyboard and back to swype.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the Swype beta for android installed on my phone and I am only having one problem - double tapping in the word window. I know if you misspell a word you should be able to double tap it in the window after the fact and it should bring up the word choice window for you to choose. However, with Swype on my Evo, all it does it highlight the word and I cannot change the word.
My other question is about internal memory. My phone has been dropping MB of internal storage like a bad habit. I went from 400 to 320 in a matter of a few days and have not installed or saved anything outside of my sd card. Why is this happening? and what happens if that memory reaches 200 - 100 or even 0?
I just received an email notice that a new version of the swype is available. The improvements seem well worth it but I have my swype themed with metamorph. Does anyone know if the metamorph themes work with the new version?
