When i send a message via SMS to a group I've set up, some get it as an e-mail, and some as SMS. How do I edit it so that I am only using one service (SMS) Any ideas? I tried to figure out how to change the primary contact but got nowhere.

Just like to say thanks for all the help people have given me in the past, this forum has been great. My Desire is fantastic, does some odd things now and then but essential it is ok (like once the camera wouldn't work but the camcorder would? then it just started working again, the weather widget pops up quite a bit as does the desktop clock but I can just cancel them so no real big deal). Anyway, what I would like to know is when I pull up my contacts in the phonebook, there is a primary method of contact associated with some of them. I take it that this is automatically assigned the first time I contact that person. Does anyone know how I can change the primary method of contact?
View 8 Replies View RelatedUnder each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?

When looking at a contact, you will notice that one phone number (and one email address) is marked as "Primary". When calling without directly using contacts - just the list that pops up as you are typing the number or name - the phone call will be made to the number that is marked as "primary" instead of giving a choice. How do you change the "Primary" number for a contact? So far, the only way I have found to do it is to delete all numbers except for the one I want as the primary, and then add the rest after. Is there a way in editing the contact to just make this change without deleting the numbers and adding them back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSome Contacts defaulted to the Contact Details as a primary. I have tried changing the primary to the call number I want for the primary. It does not seem to work. Please tell me if I am doing this correctly. I press the people button on the home page, then I press the photo of the Contact I want to view. Then I press the Index Card Icon. I am now looking at the Contacts Details. I hold down the phone number I want to make primary. It never gives me the Make Primary Option. If the Contact shows no Primary, I can set a Primary. But if the Contact already shows a wrong Primary, I can't change it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI did the 2.1 droid Eris update, and found a few issues.
One might just be me, but I had my droid set the way I wanted it to be before the update, and now I have no clue how to get back to my original settings. So, trying not to sound like a dumbass here.
1. When I turn the phone off and then back on, my messages widgets goes away from the screen I have it on. All that shows up is a little folder that I have NOTHING IN. And it's really starting to bug me, 'cause I love that little widget where I can just cycle through the messages.
Do I have to lock just that screen? It's the only widget affected when the phone goes on and off.
2. None of my contacts got erased; however, I noticed that my one primary is set to text, but when I go to edit the profile, it's set to call. This one I might just leave alone, but none of the ringtones that I have set for them are working. I saw a thread earlier about the People thing, but I'm not sure if I fixed this. And how would I go about changing the primary method of contact (text/call) or is set permanently like that?
Is it possible to change/edit a contact from "Exchange contact" to "Google contact" ?
Or do i need to do it manually (delete/re-enter)...
I want to change the primary gmail account attached to the app market to a a different gmail than the one that the people at the Verizon store set up. I've been searching around -- most people have said to just do a factory reset. However, I found this discussion about changing it on a G1 How to change the primary gmail account on android g1 tmobile phone - 611Connect Blog | Cell Phone Reviews, New Cell Phones, Cell Phone How Toand was wondering if the same solution that "Dac@ Android Developer" provides would work on the Droid with 2.0. His solution was:
1. Setting > Application > Manage Application > Clear Data from Google Storage
2. Re-create GMail shortcut
Apparently this worked great for people with G1s. Am I missing something...or will these instructions just not work with 2.0?
Switched from Blackberry to Incredible and have hopefully a simple contacts question. My listing for a friend, John, has a cell and home number. His listing will give me an option to message each listed number. But, I only want to message his cell and would like that to be the primary action for messaging (in fact messaging his home could preferably be deleted since it isn't possible). Holding down the number doesn't give me the option to change like the calling listings do. Right now it looks like the primary messaging option is email, which I don't want. When I create a message in Handcent and type his name, the two numbers come up but there are no descriptions to help me distinguish between his cell and home numbers. I do have contacts synced with google with some Facebook links if that is important.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to have a factory reset a couple of weeks ago and did not realize at the time that it made a difference which Gmail account was entered first. I really need to set a different account as the 'primary', but the only option for doing this seems to be another factory reset which will be a real PITA since I just got everything reloaded and the phone is running pretty well. I saw some instructions on another part of this forum which said that you could delete the data from Google Apps, but that is not an option and the other options (e.g., clear cache) are dimmed.

I also run my own domain, and have just migrated my domain's email and calendar to Google Apps. I would like to set my phone up to sync everything from my Google Apps account rather than the random Gmail account I signed up for when I got the phone. Is there any way to achieve this without doing a Factory Data Reset? I am willing to do the Factory Data Reset if I have to, but if I need to go through that process, are there any procedures I should follow to backup important data before hand? Also, will the reset take me back to 1.5?

The question is, is it possible to change the primary line from one number to another in a family plan? I Upgraded mine last month. But the contacts when added as a google contact only show up under "all contacts" in google and not on the phone itself.
At first, I worked around this by logging into google to manually switch the contacts to "my contacts" and it then showed up on the phone.
Now, I figured out that when adding the contact on the phone, I have to choose "null" as a group label for the contact to show up on the phone.
I was reading a previous thread about blury contact pictures so I thought I would try to assign pictures to some of my contacts. I looked up the instructions in Gmail Help and they refer to a picture section in Contacts. The problem is I do not see any reference to pictures in either new or existing contacts or edits. Am I missing something or do I have a old version of Gmail if there is such a thing?

Is there an app that will allow me to locate my CSV file and overwrite my contact list? Also, for future reference, how can I force my contacts to backup on gmail?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my gmail account i have "my contacts" that are synced to the phone, and in there i have most of the contacts with all sorts of info like, address, birthday, anniversary, website, and all that jazz. when i sync it to my phone, i only get basic info like address, number and email. the birthday, anniversary and website don't syn. why is that and how can i fix that? i would hate to go through my phone and edit all that info manually in the phone. also, i read somewhere that you can choose what contacts from gmail are synced. if you go into people, then groups, hit menu, and then sync group you can choose what is synced (all contacts, my contacts, and whatever groups you have). i had that option before, and now it is gone.

And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. The password was not correct so it would not pull in my emails.I can't seem to find out how to go back into my pop3 settings since the HTC Hero email application will not let me view my previous settings to make changes.There must be a way, I am just not seeing it.Please help me with the correct procedure.It tells me to select my email account from the drop down screen in my created email account, so, I select the email address that it shows that I created.

The reason i want to change it is because my gmail app only opens email from that account, and I used a new gmail account to register my phone with that was specifically for my contacts, and now i cant check my other gmail accounts email. anyone know a good solution without having to format?
