Sprint HTC Hero :: Nexus One Launcher In Market

If you want the nexus one launcher and you are running 2.1 (damage control/darchdroid) Look for "Helix Launcher" in the market....it is free and can have up to seven screens. Just hit menu, and configure up to seven screens. I just downloaded and it looks pretty sweet so far. I have heard from both 2.0.1 rooted and non rooted users as being able to see this in the market.Please let me know if you can�t. If you have a rooted Android 2.0.1 device and can�t see this app, there is a simple hack you can do to make 2.1 apps viewable and then down loadable in the market.

Okay, sorry about that first paragraph. Short description, This is being released because of another thread where it was requested. These are my personal mods that I made and use for myself but am now sharing with you all. I havent tried/looked into making a "flashable update zip" so for now this comes as a package of APK files that you will push to your phone via ADB. I have made this slightly easier for you as I have provided all the commands needed that can simply be pasted into a terminal window.......................

There is one already installed in Fresh 2.0d. I'm switching back to DamageControl v2.07 and I know there wasn't the launcher in there before. Does anyone know if there is a launcher I can flash onto Damage?

Running 2.0d for several days now and love it. Very quick and stable when using sense ui, however when I switch to the stock launcher some very strange stuff happens.
The thing takes 3-6 seconds to open from sleep, it just hangs on the background image with no icons or nothing. Then after that finally loads there is an even longer delay when you try to pull up the programs.
After you do this the first time the launcher becomes very quick and normal, that is until you put the phone back to sleep, when you put the phone back to sleep and re-open the whole process repeats.
This does not happen with sense, so is autokiller, killing launcher causing it to completely reload everytime? Is there a way to switch it where it kills sense and lets launcher run?

I'm using Matrix 0.6 rom,and it's AOSP based, so it had landscape launcher and android keyboard. I was successfully able to pull the .apk for the keyboard, and install it on a different rom, but for the launcher, it failed. Anyone have any ideas?

I came from Sense UI Based Zen ROM for a period of time, and Fresh before that.
I was able to use the Sense UI Email Widget.
I have sense installed CM6 and LP. I looked to recreate the Sense UI Email Widget, but couldn't find it. So I thought, ok I'll upgrade to LP+ and that will have the Email widget.
Nothing. I have searched the market for Email Widget as well, but don't find anything similar. So what are you, running LP or LP+ using for an Email Widget similar to the one in Sense UI.
Yes, I have the email "shortcut" or "icon" but I want the full 4x4 page widget like I used to have.

Just wanted to report a potential issue with the Sprint HTC Hero. Me and a few friends have experienced an issue where if you:
1) install an application
2) update it or uninstall and reinstall
3) reboot your phone
Then on many applications, the launcher icon will be messed up as well as the name of the application under the icon. In many of these cases, this renders the application unusable including Google Sky and Pandora. If you then uninstall these applications and reinstall them they will work fine until you reboot your phone again. The problem doesn't seem to exist if you install the application the first time. Only does it exist if you update it and reboot or if you uninstall/reinstall and reboot. There is a fairly lengthy thread on the Android Developers mailing list regarding this. Google seems to think it is unique to the Hero itself since a stock Android device (ie: G1) doesn't have this problem. Other developers are experiencing the same thing.

Has anyone one been using the launcher Pro Beta, would like some feedback, on weather this app helps in resolving some of the dialing issues that are in the HTC stock UI, just curious, the lag on calls is really a PITA, any input on this app.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I can't find something that the developer says is there. I'm trying to find FlightTrack and I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: flighttrack." When I go to the developer's site and scan the 2D barcode and follow the link I'm told "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: pname:com.mobiata.flighttrack"
The developer is talking to Google about it. In the meantime, can some of my fellow Hero owners who took the recent update see if they can see FlightTrack in the Market and report it here? Then I'll know that the problem is either limited to my phone or is a general one for Heros.

Just got my Sprint Hero a few days ago and fell in love with it - especially compared to the Moment I traded in for it. Installed the Fresh 1.1 ROM and love it ten times more.
I can't imagine the Nexus One being that much better than this phone. Anyone have/use both and can offer some comparison thoughts? And maybe some links to side-by-side comparisons? For some reason when I look at N1 photos I imagine it to be about twice the size of my Hero.

I don't know how to update apps using the Marketplace because the App link was now replaced by Sprint link in the Marketplace. Anyone else know how to update all apps that I've downloaded without having to search each app in the Marketplace?

I'm NEVER notified when there is an update. It's not that big of a deal but it would be a really nice feature that worked. My boyfriend (using the moment) gets his notification but I don't understand why I'm not getting any. I do have it set so it would notify my. Also I been having this problem since I got it in November.

I have been running Fresh and decided to try Darchdroid v2.7.I played with it for a bit then restored my backup to Fresh.Now the market, when I go to downloads, does not show me all my installed apps.it only shows what was installed on Darchdroid v2.7.What gives? Anyone know how I can fix that?

When I login to the Market I get this error.The application setup wizard (process com. android. setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again.I'm logging in over a WiFi connection because I have yet to transfer my data plan to this phone but I do have everything else. Is there a reason for the error and or a fix?

I just installed cyanogen 6.0 on my htc hero cdma and now I have no market app. I dont have any file manager like astro where I can install apk files through the sdcard. Ive tried using the adb push command from my pc but it says that it couldnt because its a read-only file system. (lost me there!) Is it possible to install it by flashing a zip of it from recovery like a rom. Im kind of stuck here, I have no way of installing new apps....

I have done the latest firmware update and for some reason I can not find the App called Calorie Counter. This was one of my favorite apps and now its like it never existed? Does anybody else not see calorie counter when they search for it? I don't understand how it could just not show up anymore in the market. If anyone has it, could they possibly back up the app to there SD card and send me the .apk file so I can install it? Would that work?

I had Shooter Lite (a free ballistics app) on stock Hero. Then I wiped and flashed Fresh. Now that app won't show up in the market for me.I know I read something about apps not showing up if the ROM is not "signed" by Google, or something. But the zip from Fresh 2.1.2 ends with "_signed_release". So what do you do to get missing apps to show up?

I have a sprint hero and i'm thinking about rooting. If I root will I be able to access all the apps currently in the market that are unavailable to hero users because the hero runs 1.5? Also does anyone have any new info about the 2.1 release date?

As we all know, the Hero was released with a battery drainage issue. After successfully following the instructions on how to circumvent the issue,I kind of had a feeling like I should be careful on which apps to download so as to not undo the workaround. (It did eventually happen but I have had to factory reset my Hero only once since then.) That being said, is it now safe to download apps willie nillie?

I just rooted my phone yesterday using the method suggested above (xml dev or something like that).. and noticed that my weather never showed up on my home screen. then, after work, i tried to get into my Assistant Free/PageOnce app, also Market & FB.. but says network's not available..
Did i do something wrong? is tethering required after rooting to maintain network access? my texts and calls come through ok. i honestly don't remember if i received my daily agenda via e-mail or not today.

Ive installed apps to my hero from my pc, but they arnt showing up in the market as being "installed", so they can be updated, etc.is there a way around this, & where do the apps get installed (directory) on phone.1 last think, if i install apps on my sd card & dont want them, do i have to uninstall them, or can i just delete them off the sd card?my phone is rooted, does this effect the phones ability to update itself to 1.6, im running 1.5
