I have had my instinct since 10/15 and the track ball is already getting dirty and sticking. i have never used a phone with a track ball before so i am looking for tips and advice on how to clean it and keep it clean.

So a guy I work with has a Droid Eris and the ball will light up when he has a missed call or a text. Is there a way to get the Hero (sprint) to do this? Also it seems the phone has two lights on the front? I have only seen the red/green light, light up.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI was using CM6 and it had an option that i could unlock the phone by double pressing the menu button or by pressing the trackball. Now I am back to Darchdroid v2.8 because i like it way better than froyo, but the only way to unlock the phone is by sliding the screen icon. Is there a way to re-enable that menu/trackball way of unlocking the phone? I am using launcherpro 8.1 as home screen, not sure if that makes a difference.

Is there any way to play these things without a track ball? My preference is to not have a trackball but now it cripples some apps.

But it seems that whenever I try and go to System Recovery to wipe everything there is a problem because I can scroll down to click on wipe or anything but when I press it down it will reboot. I've played around with my phone over the past month to the point where I've probably fubarred it. I know how I want my phone to be setup (finally) but I think I've introduced way too much bloat and un-needed garbage by installing-unintalling apps and roms.

It was one thread of about 15 that were saved in my phone from people I communicate with on a regular basis. The phone froze up for about a minute, then message force closed. Opening up the messages app again reveals All of my threads have been wiped clean.

Like it has a short or something. I've checked all my messages, settings and I can't find the problem. Has anyone had this problem? How did you fix it? It only seems to be happening since I moved to an 8GB SD card. I copied all my files over to it and everything else seems to be working ok. It happens in both the music player and in "Listen", the podcasting app.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the in-built Media app but am finding it rather poor for two main reasons.
One is that it scans my entire SD card for music to play, which I really don't want it to do as it finds my podcasts downloaded by acast and the tags in those MP3 files are all over the place so make a mess of the Music Player lists. I've tried adding a .nomedia file to the podcast directory as suggested on another site but HTC's app doesn't pay any attention to that.
The second issue is that despite my files having MP3 track number tags, the Music Player app usually ignores those and sorts the tracks into alphabetical order which just doesn't work for a lot of my albums. It's not consistent with sorting, e.g. if I pick an album off the Albums list the tracks are in order and play in order in the track list for that album so I can hit the first track and it plays in order, but if I go back up to the albums screen and add the whole album to a playlist, sometimes it puts the tracks in order, other times it re-orders them in alphabetical order of track name. If I go to a particular artist or composer and select an album, it normally sorts the tracks by alphabetical order this time instead of tagged track order.. This is all with the same album too so it's not that some albums have track number ID3 tags and others don't.
I copy the MP3s across the USB link, I'm not using HTC Sync as it won't run on my desktop computer (a linux box), so I don't know if HTC Sync can help out here or not.
I was just wondering what the difference between aTrackDog(SD) and the regular aTrackDog? Which is better and more stable?
