HTC Hero :: Music Player Vs Ringdroid For Creating Ringtones
Dec 13, 2009It seems like the Music Player saves the ringtone to internal memory while Ringdroid saves it to sd card.I created several thru Ringdroid and set for contact ringtones and they only worked occasionally.Most times I would get default ringtone.I removed them from sd card and created a few with Music Player and I dont see them on sd card but they do show up in the ringtones list.Hopefully they now work better being internal.Does anyone know how I could delete a ringtone from internal memory?

Dec 30, 2009I got my wife a Hero and everything works appart for this. I have copied my MP3 files into a Music folder on the SD card. I then used ringdroid to pick one of these and convert it into a ringtone and assigned it to a contact.This created the folder /media/audio/ringtones on the SD card which contained my new ringtone. I checked the contact in the People application and the ringtone is correctly assigned to them. This ringtone is also in the dropdown list so I can manually add it to other contacts in the People application.However whenever I ring the Hero from the phone associated with this contact I always get the default ringtone and not the custom one.
I have rebooted the device and this does not make a difference.I can set the new ringtone to be the default ringtone and then it plays, but for all users.I have tried everything here, including doing a factory reset for the phone, but I just cannot get this working and this is something my wife needs.

Oct 29, 2010I seek everyones pearls of wisdom once more. I use a program called "Ringdroid" to make ringtones out of songs in my library. However, most of the time I get calls a default ringing sound is what I hear. Not always, but sometimes. Other times my custom tones work.

Dec 15, 2009I have multiple songs/ringtones/notifications that I would like to use. I want a single person within my contacts to have two different ringtones; one for when they call and one for when they send a message.
I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Is it possible (as anyone knows) to set a notification for an individual within a SMS app while having it leave the default application notification alone as well as the custom ringtone within the phonebook settings I have set for individual people?

Dec 2, 2009I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.

To add new ringtones or SMS alerts, connect your Hero to USB and mount the device on your PC. Browser to the following folders:
Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms
However, I cannot find the media folder. Or maybe I have not even gotten to the sd card! I was able to add wallpapers and actually use them, so I did something right along the way.
So, if anyone wants to help a new android girl with this probably very basic task, please do!
I also synced all my contacts and my calendar from my GMail account. So, not 100% lame.
Sprint HTC Hero : Custom Ringtones No Longer Work After 2.1 Update
May 24, 2010ok, so i just updated my HTC Hero to the new 2.1. So far i am enjoying the updated UI however, i have noticed some changes, for instance, before i could easily assign ringtones to anyone now when i try to assign tones that are saved on my sd card to specific contacts it will not allow me to do so. The phone now only lets me set a default tone which can be any tone (sd card or factory) but all contacts have this tone & i cannot assign specific tones for certain contacts.
