I saw a post on here the other day about the screen orientation from landscape to portrait. This app which is free from the market, is unbelievable. Rotating the phone is super quick, with no lag like the normal rotation. Will the rotation be more like it is on floating image with 2.1? Or can Dev's take anything from this app and make the rotation orientation better for normal use on the hero?

For those that have seen the HTC EVO 4G ROM floating around first announced on Engadget... or the technologically savvy... Can Sprint HTC Hero users/owners install this on their devices? What are the best and worst case scenarios if one were to attempt such a task? Would it actually work, what is this ROM essentially, what makes it different than the 2.1 update Sprint Hero owners just received?

I've seen some other Android Phones/Tablets doing this and would like to be able to do so. Or does anyone know if this will be an option in the 2.1 update? I heard that the Droid used to do this, and then some update messed it up, but then saw it going into landscape mode on the video they posted today of the Droid running 2.1.

My question... what activates it? As it seems to be random when I open my home screen?
In order to root, I've got to have Flash_image in the system/bin directory. I don't have that file in the directory. I have the flash_image file from the RUU 2.1 leak I installed yesterday, but due to having no root access, I cannot copy the file into the system/bin folder.
I tried rooting and got stuck at flash_image recovery recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img because it kept saying "flash_image not found"
Does anyone use this app? Can anyone vouch for it for the Sprint Hero? I am thinking of flashing its ClockworkMod Recovery since I have been having issues with the Recovery Image 1.6.2.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo use more features in the ROM Manager app I decided to flash the Clockwork recovery image from Rom Manager.I got the message the image had flashed so I tried to restart my phone to make sure it flashed and to make a nandroid with the new image.Phone would not boot into recovery for me.So I pulled the battery (phone was stuck on "HTC" screen), waited 10 seconds, replaced battery and tried starting the phone in regular mode instead of recovery.That worked.So I tried restarting in recovery mode again.Failed again. Figured the problem was in the Clockworkmod recovery image. So I pulled/waited/replaced the battery again and restarted the phone in regular mode.Used the USB to get to my SD card and went into the file for the Clockwork recovery image and deleted it.Then I pasted the 1.6.2 RA back onto my SD card and planned to flash it.
But I have not been able to flash the image because all my phone does now id get to the "HTC" screen and stays there.Nothing else to show it is booting up.Finally pulled my SD card and put it in my card reader on my computer.Pasted the Clockworkmod recovery image back into the correct folder, thinking I might be able to at least get the phone to boot up in regular mode. No luck.Just goes to the "HTC" screen I see every start-up and stays there.So the 1.6.2 RA is on the root of my SD but not flashed.The Clockworkmod image is back in it's folder but not re-flashed.
I'm getting ready to put a new rom and its suggesting to put RA recovery 1.6.2. currently i have 1.5.2 and i know how to push it to the phone. My question do I delete the RA 1.5.2 on my phone then push or do I just push 1.6.2 and is that it? Is there more steps after placing a new Recovery Image.

and it said it was successfully rooted. I can execute su from adb shell (and the phone pops up saying that unknown has been granted superuser). But I don't have flash_image in /system/bin so I can't flash a recovery image, and I tried the instructions in the link in this post:
What am I doing wrong: BootLoader/Flash_Image/Recovery Image (basically download the flash_image, mount system as rw, and push it in to /system/bin) but it still doesn't work. The mount seems to work (doesn't give any error messages) but the adb push command gives: failed to copy 'flash_image' to '/system/bin/flash_image': Permission denied
I'm just trying to get my recovery menu back!
I've tried RUUing my phone but that won't work now. It dies on the HTC screen and when I pull the USB I get to a menu that has the option of RUU but it wont' do anything.

I can't load the flash_image to my system/bin file. My phone IS rooted and I've done it via various ways and none of them will give me permission to move the flash_image to the /system/bin folder
I can't flash a recovery image to flash_image because... flash image doesn't exist.
I'm at th end of my rope and I'm about to slip it around my neck. I know I need to step away from this and take a deep breath, but I'm determined.

Anyone have a clue how to reset the image numbers for the camera. Every digital cam I have ever owned has this feature. Does the 5mp cam in the Hero allow this also, and how?

ran into a little problem yesterday when i was going back and forth between roms. i usually wipe before restoring nandroid but this time i ran into the error nandroid adb thing. i was able to get into rom manager and flash clockwork recovery and then flash back RA_v1.6.2 to restore my nandroid but i was wondering whats the BEST and NEWEST recovery image out right now? i dont want to run into this problem again. i thought i broke my phone! lucky i searched on here and someone said to reinstall the recovery image which is what i did and it worked!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.

Now, I am hoping to get custom recovery image installed on my phone so that I can nandroid back up my current stock 2.1 based image before installing CM6. View 1 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

I recently rooted my phone and was wondering how to install custom themes and lock screens for my hero. I am new to this as the title implies, so a link/instructions on how to install/create these would be what I'm looking for.
