selling it, need it to go back to stock rom before i sell it, do i simply add the recovery-ra-heroc file to my sd and flash like a rom? do i wipe first? how do i wipe? trying to sell now need to do this quick.

I've used this guide for rooting and rooted him smooth BUT,when I do this step: 5. Run "Terminal Emulator". Type (press and hold menu to get the keyboard up) in the following: su (press enter and wait for the "Super User Request Prompt". Choose "Allow" and make sure its ticked to Allow every time.) flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img it replies: flash_image: not found.... (and i did typing OK,I tried with renamed and un-renamed file). OK,then I tried with Flash rec from this tutorial BUT.... Flash custom recovery is missing. There is only: download recovery image button,but blanked. I just don't get it,img file is in /sd/recovery.img or longer version: /sd/recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.

My question do I delete the RA 1.5.2 on my phone then push or do I just push 1.6.2 and is that it? Is there more steps after placing a new Recovery Image.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTo use more features in the ROM Manager app I decided to flash the Clockwork recovery image from Rom Manager.I got the message the image had flashed so I tried to restart my phone to make sure it flashed and to make a nandroid with the new image.Phone would not boot into recovery for me.So I pulled the battery (phone was stuck on "HTC" screen), waited 10 seconds, replaced battery and tried starting the phone in regular mode instead of recovery.That worked.So I tried restarting in recovery mode again.Failed again. Figured the problem was in the Clockworkmod recovery image. So I pulled/waited/replaced the battery again and restarted the phone in regular mode.Used the USB to get to my SD card and went into the file for the Clockwork recovery image and deleted it.Then I pasted the 1.6.2 RA back onto my SD card and planned to flash it.
But I have not been able to flash the image because all my phone does now id get to the "HTC" screen and stays there.Nothing else to show it is booting up.Finally pulled my SD card and put it in my card reader on my computer.Pasted the Clockworkmod recovery image back into the correct folder, thinking I might be able to at least get the phone to boot up in regular mode. No luck.Just goes to the "HTC" screen I see every start-up and stays there.So the 1.6.2 RA is on the root of my SD but not flashed.The Clockworkmod image is back in it's folder but not re-flashed.
I'm just trying to get my recovery menu back!
I've tried RUUing my phone but that won't work now. It dies on the HTC screen and when I pull the USB I get to a menu that has the option of RUU but it wont' do anything.
So I tried this to fix the bootloader

I can't load the flash_image to my system/bin file. My phone IS rooted and I've done it via various ways and none of them will give me permission to move the flash_image to the /system/bin folder
I can't flash a recovery image to flash_image because... flash image doesn't exist.
I'm at th end of my rope and I'm about to slip it around my neck. I know I need to step away from this and take a deep breath, but I'm determined.
Anyone able to give me some hints to as what I'm missing

ran into a little problem yesterday when i was going back and forth between roms. i usually wipe before restoring nandroid but this time i ran into the error nandroid adb thing. i was able to get into rom manager and flash clockwork recovery and then flash back RA_v1.6.2 to restore my nandroid but i was wondering whats the BEST and NEWEST recovery image out right now? i dont want to run into this problem again. i thought i broke my phone! lucky i searched on here and someone said to reinstall the recovery image which is what i did and it worked!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.

Today, I installed universal one-click root app onto my phone from this link : [APP] [ROOT] 1-click root for N1 (Latest ver: 1.6.2 beta 5) - xda-developers and I believe I got my phone rooted. Now, I am hoping to get custom recovery image installed on my phone so that I can nandroid back up my current stock 2.1 based image before installing CM6. I was hoping to try clockworkmod through ROM Manager app. Does this image work in HTC Hero ? If not, is there any other recovery image that I should try for my 2.1 hero ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with root explorer and noticed that i was able to delete my boot animation with it when i was mounted as R/W so i thought i would try to copy one and it also works... so no need to push with adb shell.. here are the steps
1. take the boot animation make sure it is named bootanimation.zip and copy it to your SD card
2. then open root explore and mount R/W and then navigate to the file and press on file till the menu comes up and select copy
3. then navigate to data/local and paste the file in the local directory
and you are done, this can be done with the android_audio.mp3 file as well just paste it to the same place.
just thought this would make it easier for people instead of using adb shell

I rooted it last week with the unrevoked 3 method which seemed to go ok then i tried some different roms and some worked some didnt. I tried to install the r8-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd+-signed...! This rom got stuck on the white start up screen. I thought that if i cleared the sd card it would install but still the same thing then i just got the white htc screen which i cant get off and i cant load the recovery to change anything...! The sd card is working and i can get into the hboot and when it reads the sd card says wrong img! Is there something missing on the sd card? Have i bricked my phone? Any ideas on a fix?
View 31 Replies View RelatedSo I have a ROOTED Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results.So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

Make a backup prior to doing this and of course im not responsible, blah blah blah Don't be an idiot either, you must be on Froyo 2.2 to restore an image of 2.2. So, to the question (Can I use this to update my 2.1 and have root). I've noticed that most people that CAN'T run it (MD5 error) are people that did a factory reset. What i would suggest to anyone else reading this, is if you know you have factory reset on 2.2, this probably will not work (by all means try). BUT if you WANT to run it that bad, do a data wipe, and THEN sbf. Root 2.1, update to 2.2, install koush's bootstrapper and try again. that will probably work. Credits to krayzee1 on alldroid for posting this. Mike919 we now have a clockwork recovery backup that you can recover to your phone. What does this give me? well it gives you a way to restore your phone to its default state but it has already been rooted and deodexed.If you dont know what root or deodexed are then please search around the forums.

View 12 Replies View RelatedBefore I even rooted my phone, my charger was having issues charging. At the end of the part that goes into the phone, the black cord fell back and the wires are exposed. It's been like this since late March/April. I'd have to mess with angling the phone in order for it to charge, but once it did, it was solid. I rooted my phone thursday night and put fresh on it. Then yesterday I decided that it wasn't fast enough and I jumped from CM6 to PureHero. All the while it charged, but I still had to mess with it. Now that I've left it on PureHero (although overall, I still haven't found a satisfactory ROM) my phone won't charge at all. Like, when I finally CAN get the light to glow orange, it'll be stuck at the same percentage. I woke up at like 3 in the morning and discovered this so I kept the battery out for the remainder of the night, woke up and put it back in but it's still stuck at the same percentage. Is it the ROM I'm using? Did I fry my battery somehow? Or is it solely the charger? I want to know before I go and buy a new batter/charger.

Does that calculator exist in a .apk somewhere that I can put on my rooted phone? I don't want a scientific calculator but I would like a better one then the stock 2.1 I got with Damages 2.1 Rom.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have found the secret to getting the HTC Hero to send and recieve MMS on nTelos's network for all you impatient customers who have already rooted your nTelos Hero. All you really need to do this is the android SDK you used to root your hero. First start off by enabling usb debug mode by going to settings, applications, development, and checking USB Debugging Edit: Then open a command prompt. I almost forgot that part. Then we plug the phone into the pc. Assuming your sdk is at "C:android-sdk" without quotes. Reboot and done! You should now have mms both directions. It landed on the volume down button and now gives an error when she restarted it about no Sim Recovery or something like that. I haven't seen it yet as I won't see her again til the weekend. Is their anything she can do to fix the issue. I had her remove the battery and while the cover was off she was able to get the volume down button unpressed and working again.
When placing the battery back in the phone will no longer power on. Is recovery loaded by the volume down and power button? I thought I read somewhere the Home key was also needed to boot into recovery on the phone. Can I download any stock back up to place on her SIM card if infact this is the issue? Thanks for the help. I have a moment and I know it in an out but the hero is new to me still. I am gonna have her take it to sprint if we can't figure this out if I must but I hate dealing with the local repair center.
I just rooted my phone and whenever I try to go into recovery mode my phone just turns blank and I have to pull my battery out and turn the phone back on.

View 45 Replies View RelatedI havent received ANY texts for the past two days. I've uninstalled the latest apps I've installed (Task Killer & Texas Hold Em). I didnt have many installed to begin with and still had 86mb free before uninstalling them. i've restarted and pulled the battery over and over. still nothing. my phone is rooted with Fresh 1.1 and I have the Gumbo kernel. NOW... i'm thinking about trying a hard reset to try and fix this SMS issue. can i backup my phone to where i dont have to do the manual rooting all over again? that kitchen didnt work for me and i really dont feel like running thru all that code again. what all does a backup actually back up?
View 2 Replies View Relatedve been having this issue ever since i flashed to the damageless 2.08 ROM. First off, i absolutely love this 2.1 Rom. It has everything i need in a phone now, but this one problem. Occasionally when i try to use the phone portion of my phone to call somebody, it will not work. By that i mean when i dial a buddys number, it will show that i am in a call with him, but i can not hear any ringing or him on the other side. (He can hear me however). This is a totally random issue, meaning that there isnt a specific time or number this happens when i call, so this makes for an irritating issue.Has anyone else experienced this? if so does anyone know of any fixes or anything?
