Sprint HTC Hero :: Easy Tether Not Working On 2.1
May 22, 2010I just installed the official 2.1 version from Sprint. For some reason Easy Tether is no longer working on 2.1, but PDANet works. Anyone else having the same problem?

Aug 20, 2010Looking for reasons to purchase the full version. Just drove from SE VA to DC, and had the tether all the way up I95, without any problems.
Any reasons anyone can give me for purchasing the full $10 version?

Apr 23, 2010When I press "Press to start tethering" it says "Please wait while starting" then it says "unable to start tethering. Please try again!". Even when trying to go to "Show log" it says "Unable to open log-File!".

Mar 18, 2010I installed fresh-cdma-hero-2.0b2. Wireless tether for remote users is not working for me. I would like to use this program. I am able to get the laptop to see and connect to the phone. But the laptop cannot ping or browse out to the internet. I have security disabled (WEP) as I read that it doesnt work. I have tried it with access control on and off to no resolution. I have tried it in Windows and in OSX without any luck. Could someone tell me what the trick is? I tried with what the Fresh image came with which I think is wireless_tether_2_0-pre7.apk and I also downloaded and tried pre8. I've searched multiple forums over the last 3 days but haven't found any solid solutions at all.

Feb 16, 2010I just found this and it definitely works on my rooted hero. What i did was went to market, download "bubble" app, calibrated g sensor, then calibrated all 3 levels on bubble app. It really worked, i have no idea how or why, but it does. Try it out and post back when you see the difference.

This will bring you to a menu that gives you the option to erase user data or not, choosing yes will reset firmware to factory and you will lose ALL settings, including wallpapers, ringtones, etc, but your sd card will remain untouched... if you brick your hero this should help, but im not claiming responsibility if it doesnt.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Getting Android-Wifi - Tether To Work With Sprint 2.1 RUU
Apr 17, 2010I went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.

Aug 20, 2010I have a rooted hero on sprint with unlimited data but I found out that o can tether my xbox but , I worry now Sprint may catch on to my tethering and may surprise me with a high bill since I haven't paid for mobile hotspot Not that I wouldn't but it is not available with my phone . So should I worry ?

Problem is, with a long string of messages, 80 to 90, it would take a long ime.I tried connecting my phone to my PC, via USB, and then tried to find the messages in the folders.Couldn't find them. May 27, 2010I have 4 phones for my company. 2 HTC Heroes and 2 Samsung Moments.I setup both phones on my 2 pc's and laptops.Both phones worked great.Now only the Heroes are working with Easy Tether.I have loaded and reloaded the Samsung drivers. This problem occurred in the last few days.Sometimes the Samsung are recognized as "Legacy USB's".The Moments are supposed to be backup phones.I have not upgraded to the Full Easy Tether until I can get the problems 100% resolved.

Oct 26, 2010I have 2 galaxy S phones from T-Mobile, and have Easy Tether installed on both.My wife's Dell Inspriron laptop uses Windows XP, and she has no problems on the tethering.internet access is great.My Dell XPS laptop has Windows 7, and when I open Easy Tether my display goes all funky and loses definition.colors get screwed up, and everything gets very tough to read etc.If I use my phone with my wife's lap top.no problem, so I assume that my laptop has something that's fighting with Easy tether.Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this?I need help!

Jun 23, 2010For some reason when I'm using the tethering software on my rooted (Modaco 3.0) Hero it only works as a 'computer to computer' network, and not ad-hoc. This then means I can't use the connection to access the internet.I'm sure I've had this working before. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I've looked through the Setup and there doesn't seem to be an option to choose between the two types.

May 20, 2010I just installed Fresh 2.1.1, and its running great with one exception. Wireless Tether, which is the reason I rooted in the first place, wont run. When I start the app it gives me a popup saying that root access is required. I have 2 options override and close. If I override and turn on the tether the screen goes black and says su permission at the top.

Nov 4, 2010I tried searching but did not find anything to answer this question. I recently rooted my wife's hero so she could use wireless tether. Everything works great except that the phone discharges at an alarming rate. While plugged into the wall, it discharges faster than it can charge. Is this normal? I tried different cables/chargers but nothing seems to charge or keep the charge while wireless tether is on and being used. My evo easily handles the wireless tether and even charges up the phone while doing it. If this is normal for the Hero then I will not worry anymore about it. Will just tell her to use the wireless tether in 1-2 hours times to avoid draining her phone all the way.
