I just rooted my hero and am trying to run cyanogen, but it locks at the load screen, keeps displaying the logo over, and over, and over and.....well you get the idea. Tried 2 diff files, no joy.

I have completed rooting my sprint hero, and verified by using several apps that require rooting... i have tried to no avail to do a nandroid backup and have not been able to, yet. so when i attempt a nandroid backup is my phone supposed to sit on the htc load screen overnight? if not that is one symptom.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time i lock the screen the SIM locks as well, meaning I have to enter the SIM pin code every time I unlock the phone! Also no one can call me since the SIM is locked. Anyone else got this problem? This happened once in a while on 1.6 but since my update to 2.1 this morning it happens every time.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed cyanogen 6.0 on my htc hero cdma and now I have no market app. I dont have any file manager like astro where I can install apk files through the sdcard. Ive tried using the adb push command from my pc but it says that it couldnt because its a read-only file system. (lost me there!) Is it possible to install it by flashing a zip of it from recovery like a rom. Im kind of stuck here, I have no way of installing new apps....
View 10 Replies View RelatedUpgrading my Sprint Hero to 2.1 has been a complete disaster. The one improvement is that the browsers work faster. Oh...and the menus are prettier and perhaps more intuitive.
The phone and just about every other function hangs, the phone locks up constantly - especially when entering and leaving email - and generally is unusable. I've been doing battery pulls 4+ times a day just to get the phone re-started when it locks up.
I work for a university and they got me a warranty replacement, which I've had for all of 8 hours. I can already tell that it's not as responsive as the previous Hero before I "upgraded" it. I'm just hoping it won't be as consistently laggy and non-responsive as the upgraded one.
My advice to anyone reading this thread - if your phone has not been upgraded to OS 2.1, DO NOT DO IT. Wait until a couple more updates are available...my experience has been completely bad.
Right now I can't wait for another update, hoping that it will resolve all the lag and hangup problems created by 2.1.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI have recently rooted my phone as well as flashed the Cyanogen v6 ROM (FroYo). The only issue I am having is with syncing but not in the usual sense. In everything but the contacts app I can see my google contacts (chompSMSu is an example). I can successfully go into my Gmail and basically anything else Google related. It's only the actual contact list that isn't showing up, even though syncing elsewhere is possible.
I have checked the syncing options, did a factory reset, flashed to a different rom (and come back again) and it still isn't working.
I know that this is a silly question, but I can't seem to access my voicemail running the Cyanogen rom. I get the text saying a number has called me and left me a voicemail, but I don't know what to call to access them.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI Only Use The "Landscape"( for Lack of knowing the proper term) keyboard, ya know the one when you hold the phone sideways, but i hate that it always first loads the normal or "portrait" keyboards first, then it has to load the landscape keyboard when i rotate it so i wanna know if i can just have it so that it always loads the landscape keyboard no matter how the phone is positioned i checked the settings and it doesn't seem like you have that option, so is there maybe an app that does this??? anybody have any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am using the brorwer and I go to a website, and after I am done looking at whatever it is I looked at I just just hit the home button and it take me out of the browser. Now when I go to use the browser again it pulls up with the last website I was looking at. I hit the menu key and usually have to tap bookmarks and then tap my homescreen bookmark. Is there an alternative way to load my homescreen ?

I rooted this past weekend and flashed the new fresh2.0d ROM. I upgraded the 1.5.2 image to 1.6.2 and I just installed the 2.42.00.03.10 radio.
Now when I back out of any program I get a black "fresh" screen and my home screen loads like it does when the phone boots up. My twitter app and my bookmarks do the same. This is each time I back out of a program. It only started today after I upgraded the image and radio. Would those cause this or is it another problem?
I traded my 9630 tour today for the htc hero and am happy so far, I backed up my contacts on my pc(from tour) and was wondering if there is a way i can load them to my new tour?

Is there a known solution? I cleared the cache and data and force-stopped the ap, but it still happens. For what it's worth, the same exact thing happened on my Moment (well, on the Moment Google Maps didn't work at all due to the POS GPS)

The initial list of message threads loads fine, but when I select one I get "loading" for a very long time. This has never happened to me before, and I have been running 2.1 since it was released. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.

To end the call (or enter numbers in a call menu) I need to press the sleep button to get the screen to light up again. This is a pain in the a$$.I have the screen timeout set for 2 mins.
2) About once or twice a day the home screen will lock where I can't press anything. I need to reboot to fix.
I like the pattern screen lock and see no need to have the sliding screen lock. Does anyone know how to get rid of the sliding lock?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI ordered a combo kit from amazon, very cheap. I know some chargers lock up the screen, but this one had a review from someone with an Inc. saying it was fine. Anyway, wall charger locks screen, but shows it is charging, led lights up. Car charger works fine, no screen locking up.
So... am I doing any damage to my phone using wall one? Was thinking I would just use overnight when phone is off. Anyone else using one that locks phone?
I can always just toos wall one, and keep the car one, still great deal for the $4 is spent.
I recently was sent an OTA update and did it. Well , it wiped all my work Exchange settings out. I reconfigured and now I am forced to log in with a password AFTER I swipe the screen lock at the bottom.
This was occurring before the 2.2 update in Sept. and I used the No Lock App. Well now, the No Lock app doesn't even work. I work for a small company and they couldn't find the "Mobile" settings in Exchange that I have read about in other posts. Anyone know why this is happening and if there is a fix? I have other Android users at my office and they do not have to unlock with a password.
Anyone else have this issue? My Eris' lock screen...well, locks up. So meta, right?
It does this maybe once a day and the only way to unlock the lock screen is... you can't. I have to pull the battery out and put it back in, then wait the entire three minutes it takes to restart.
EDIT: Sometimes it doesn't lock, but I can't pull down the unlock all the way. It sits there near the bottom of the screen and I can kind of move it around, but I can't pull it all the way down.
This is unbearably frustrating because I use the cardio program to track all my fitness. If it locks up in the middle of a workout, I can't save or see my progress. Obviously, I can't make a guess as to the distance I've traveled because I'm training for a marathon and I need exact numbers.
This is not to mention god knows what kind of screw-ups might result from so many restarts and forced shut down by pulling out the battery.
Yesterday I was using my Moment, and had to reboot it... Data lock *cringe*. So it boots up, and I start using it, browsing the internet, and suddenly, without warning, while my finger is on the screen scrolling, the phone locks up the screen. It did it several times more while I was using Google maps, and while I was browsing my gallery.

1) When the phone locks(after time out)
2)When the user unlocks the screen (by dragging the screen lock object)
There doesn't appear to be an API available where an application can be notified when the device is locked or unlocked. It is important the this application be notified of these events, since the service utilizes the proximity sensor which does not shutdown when the device goes into suspend. The app will need to unload the prox sensor manually to save battery when the device gets locked, and reload the prox after the device is unlocked again.
