I'm super happy with my new Hero. But I use an external compact camera to make pictures.
Is it posible to connect an external camera to the HTC hero using a USB cable (and an app)?
This would be supercool when we are on the road without a laptop.

Just talking on the hero when another call beeped in, screen came up showing who was calling. I hit the Decline button which is supposed to send the call directly to VM, but it only made the screen go away. I kept getting the beep notification that another call was trying to get through and then the choppy dial tone hang up signal after the call eventually made it to VM.

But I need to set up the ip address of them. Since I can not do that on android, I've no idea. And it seems that the G1 cannot find my pc's signal.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received an MP4 video that plays really well on my Hero. But it is not visible in the photo gallery of my phone. It's grayed out. When I go into my SD card with a file manager and click on it the movie will play perfectly but it won't play though the photo gallery manager.My real issue is that I have to go into a file manager to find the file and play it instead of using a widget to call up a program that will play it. There is obviously something in the phone that can handle the MP4 format and I just need to know what program to use.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDownloaded CM6 R1 for Hero onto SD Card (had Fresh ROM) and then flashed CM 6 and Google apps as per instructions.
Everything seems top work well except that the phone/SD Card is not recognized when connected to computer with USB.
I found this out when I went to try tethering and PDA Net. Neither worked and then I realized the phone is not being recognized by the computer.
My computer at work tried to load some ADB drivers but errored out.
When I connect the phone to either of my 3 computers I either get no popup or a popup saying do you want to load ADB drivers (which errors out).
I'm still pretty new to using Android, but I decided that my first application would be a simple flashlight app for my new Incredible. Unfortunately, it seems to be more difficult than I had originally thought.
It seems that there's no way to access the LEDs through the SDK, at least not without a bunch of weird hacks to make the phone pretend that it's taking a picture. Even then, I can only get the LEDs to turn on. They only turn off if the phone is put on hold, and doing so breaks all camera-related apps until the phone is rebooted.
So, I was wondering if accessing the LEDs through the NDK was possible, or if there was any other camera-related APIs that would seem to do what I want.
I've looked at other code for other flashlights, so it looks like it's a hardware-based problem. I figured I'd give up because it doesn't appear to be possible, but I thought I should ask here first on the off-chance somebody knows something that I don't.
I'm trying for my app to create a picture this way... It works fine, except when doing this, the picture is written in the "Camera" folder (/sdcard/dcim/Camera). Since the picture was not taken with the camera, this is not desirable. Is there any way to put it directly in dcim?

I can't even toggle the mobile network widget.When I go to Settings Wireless, Mobile network is grayed our and it says "Turning on..." below it.I saw in another thread to cycle the network off and on. I have to do this through a long press on the power button, but it doesn't ever connect.Is this a phone issue, or could there be network problems in my area?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought I would share my experience with my HTC Hero and its in ability to all the sudden connect to the network. I woke up today and my htc hero would not connect to the network. I may have powered my phone down for the first time in weeks last night and that what caused it to not be able to connect. Anyhow, the culprit?the "wheres my droid" application. I put this on my phone a month ago and I had problems with my phone, so I deleted it and a handful of other apps that I thought might have messed up my phone. Then I tried it again about a week ago, and just this morning my phone stop connecting to the network. As a result I deleted it cuz it was the last app i downloaded. Presto, my phone started working again I went to the sprint store and everything and they didnt know what was wrong with it and were about to switch me to a new hero. I said HOLD ON, I dont want a new phone and have to set it up all over again.

1. The speakers on the laptop serve as a wireless speaker system when you make or receive a call.
2. The speakers also play music from your Hero.
3. Transfer files to and from the Hero
4. Send a fax
5. Tether!
6. PIM sync (hello WinMo users!)
7. Wireless printing
I've performed all of these functions without a hitch. So the Hero looks as if it's a better phone than anticipated... at least for me anyway.
I just got a GPE LG Pad 8.3 and I have not seen an option in the stock camera app to save photos and video to the SD card. Is there any camera app that can write photos and videos to the SD card? It seems like a waste of an SD card if I can't have my photo's and videos go directly to the card.

Got a few successfully installed, then I got errors and could not install anymore. After a break I tried to connect to HTC sync, but now I'm unable to. I tried with usb debugger on and off without success.

View 14 Replies View RelatedLike many other people, I have the issue where I cannot connect to my exchange e-mail because of security settings. I was able to resolve the issue the first time by using Lockpicker. I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

I'm able to connect in other hotspots around town but for some reason not in my own home.
I have my router set up with WPA-Personal security and after numerous times attempting to connect by entering that god awful encryption key (learned how to cut & paste on the Hero) no luck.
Reading other threads on this subject I took someone's advise and reset the router to use WEP security with the same results.
I have a wireless laptop and printer in the household that use my wireless system just fine. Why won't my Hero play nice?
I've been running CM6 for awhile now and I love it. My only problem so far is that I absolutely hate the camera application. I much, much preferred the Sense take on it; so, I'm sitting here, wondering if there's a good camera application to replace the crap stock one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed a few people have had the same problem. Notice to charge your phone, check battery usage and it says "camera a million percent." Best advice so far is to turn your phone off then back on and it goes away. But this happens every time I use my camera. Am I gonna have to turn off my phone every time I'm done with the camera or is there a way to make this stop happening? It's only a recent problem too. When I got the phone a few weeks ago, I had no problems. If the battery was low and I checked why it'd show display and cell standby and phone idle. It's just been the last few days that it started showing the camera.
BTW when I press on it (where it says "camera a million percent") for more details it says "turn off GPS" why do I need to turn of GPS to make my camera stop draining the battery or is that totaly unrelated advice?
Unfortunately I thought of this after I updated but if anybody could post before and after of the camera quality in reference to the recent update.
