View 4 RepliesYesterday i updated my phone to android 2.1 through pc companion and it took almost half an hour. It was a success but when i switched it on, after sony ericsson written on it, it shows a camera logo sitting on top of a logo of the phone with an arrow pointing towards the phone, somethin like this: .............
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhat's everybody's thoughts on the voice quality on the hero? I know on my last phone it was bad, and I haven't really had a chance to test it on the sprint hero, but I was wondering if anybody could offer me their take.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a quality armband for my sprint hero. I have found a few that are just pouches and then the arm band, but i have broken those before at the clip.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm sorry if this has already been asked. But i already searched. Every time i make a video it has horrible quality and the sound quality is horrible too. A 5mp camera should be able to have very good quality don't you think? My friend has the i phone and i'm pretty sure its not better than 5mp and its video quality is amazing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that the new fresh ROM 2.3.3 has reduced the quality on pictures from the sd card assigned to a contact. Every time when i call i see that the picture is poor.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBeen thinking about flashing a new radio for my hero but I'm just not sure what is a good signal or a bad signal. At my house my phone shows 2-3 bars and between 84-93db most of the time. Is that good? what should be a standard for evaluating signal strength? Sorry if this has already been done. In past threads i've seen posts re: decibals but none i've ever seen has stated what the norm/standard is or what a person should expect. As far as flashing a new radio I know its trial and error. I was just wanting to know what I should expect. TYVM in advance for your answers. BTW running Fresh 2.3.3 with his stock radio 1.04.01.09.21
View 14 Replies View RelatedDidn't wanna hijack the other thread, so I wanted to share some pics of the Innocase II that I received today. I used there products for my Curve (made it too bulky) and the 3GS (perfect case it was). Buying this case was a no brainer IMO since those silicon cases collect tons of dust. Best Buy gave a free OEM Hero skin and WOW it is a dust collector. This Innocase gives the device a better grip and makes it a touch thicker, which IMO makes the phone a better handheld device to hold. Also covers up the blah grey color. As you can see from the pics, the slider case is a great fit and gives a nice "lay on the table" design, which I love. Not much more to add, but for anyone looking for a case, this has to be the best case made for the Hero.
View 26 Replies View RelatedDon't know if any of u have noticed this or if I'm just super late but I just recently went into the YouTube app and was actually able to stream videos. I'd say out of 10 times the vid streamed 9. Though IM still having difficulty streaming in high quality.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else find the play back have awful quality? especially for a higher end phone like this one. My playback has the lowest quality I have seen in a phone in a long time. Pre had much clearer resolution. Is there a player in the market that helps with higher resolution?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to downgrade to version .5 for days! Im about ready to throw my hero out the window! I have rooted it before, So I know im capable of it. Nothing ever goes right, ive tried every method gold card included. When im trying to downgrade to .5 when it come time "upgrade" the only option that the installer gives me is .6 which I already have! So ive tried to run that to see what might and happen and it always gets an error 170 usb connection after its at about 70 percent!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI never had this problem until upgrading to 2.1. I have my clock process excluded in my task manager, I check the volume level every night through Audio Manager and even in the clock app - and it is not going off. I set alarms for everything, so this is very frustrating.
I can set a test alarm for two minutes from now and it will go off with no issues at full volume. But if I leave it alone for awhile, the alarm won't go off. I think the most reasonable thing to assume here is that it has something to do with the clock not updating until you turn the phone on. I don't know what to do.
My wife and I are enthusiastic users of the Sprint Hero. I'm fascinated by the unbelievable level of functionality over the LG Rumor I was using before. However, I'm a newbie to smartphones and would like to know what the ROM 1.1 upgrade is all about and what benefits can be expected. I've read the post about how to do it....just want to know why.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a htc hero from sprint. My phone says 1.56.651.2 version. Does that mean I can't get the 2.1?
How do I get the 2.1 version?
Before upgrading to 2.1 I was able to use MP3 songs as ring tones, so for the people I associate a song with, I recognize who is calling before looking... Am I missing something, or is this capability gone with 2.1? Was there a market place app I was running that I forgot to reload, or is this feature just gone?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I upgraded to 2.1 a couple of days ago and I think it's possessed my phone! My ringer keeps going off and there's no one calling. And I can't figure out how to hang up from a call now! It's also so slow when I click on someone to call. Sometimes it just sits there until it finally starts to make the call. Any suggestions? Oh and my shapewriter does not work nearly as well as it did on the 1.5. Do you think this is something that will get worked out or are we destined to deal with the bugginess of the 2.1?
View 8 Replies View Relatedso the sprint htc hero came with a 2gb sd card right.i have another 4gb one and i want to use that one instead. question is do i just COPY everything over from the 2gb sd card to the 4gb sd card?i tried searching already but maybe i didn't use the right keywords?i typed sd card and all i saw was people asking if it will fit 16gb or 32gb's.

Since others haven't mentioned about it I am not sure if it is happening for me only? I also notice that the menu for changing NAM is not seen in 2.1 - Is anyone else who upgraded to 2.1 also noticing it?##786# is opening the menu but not ##778# which used to work on 1.5
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to decide about either keeping my current HTC Hero (Firmware Version 1.5) or switching to the iPHONE. On the iPHONE, I am trying to figure out if I want the new iTOUCH or the new iPHONE. The problem is, the decision is dependent on my HTC Hero.I like the Hero, but it just feels like something is "Lacking" or "Missing." But I can't explain it.I have read on these forums here and there about how people have rooted there phone and how amazing it works and is compared to the official firmware out there.I don't know much about rooting when it comes to Android. The closest thing I can think of that might be similar in nature is when I had a jailbroken iPOD TOUCH.So now I am trying to figure out, to make my current HTC Hero "Better" or check it out the way it was meant to be, do I root it, or do I officially upgrade to 2.1?If you happen to recommend rooting, I am hoping there is a simple way of doing it. If I am not mistaken, I believe there are multiple version to root to, so which one do I use and how do I go about rooting to it?

I'm looking for a little bit of opinion and a little bit of inside info (if anybody's got any) with regards to upgrading hardware. As everyone is aware, the Hero came out in October 2009, meaning that in a few short weeks, anyone who purchased the Hero at launch (at least those with "Premium" standing) is eligible for a hardware upgrade. I have been on the fence about pulling the trigger on upgrading to an Evo (as I'm sure quite a few people are as well). I've taken a look at some of the pros and cons and I'm still weighing my decision on those. I'm not going to go into the pros and cons because that's not the goal of this post. I understand fully that technology, especially in the world of smartphones, is a very fluid animal and that "the next big thing" is always around the corner. No matter what you do, anytime you purchase a phone/computer/etc, it's obsolete within 3-4 months, and sometimes sooner. I can accept that. What I would like to avoid, is upgrading my phone and on the 31st day (the day after you can return it) have Sprint announce that the next big thing is around the corner and will be released in November/December. I've done some research over the past few weeks, and I can't seem to find any information on any new phones coming to Sprint, so I was hoping that the fine people in the forum could provide guidance. I haven't even really heard any rumors with regards to the next Android phone coming to Sprint.
View 49 Replies View RelatedWhen I purchase a new SD card, what is the easiest way to transfer everything to the new card? Should I use some backup app or just mount the 2 cards on the computer and copy all files from one card to the other? Does it matter? I am also curious how to backup the entire device prior to the 2.0 update coming. It seems like the 2.0 update will require flashing the phone. I assume it will erase everything? I wonder if sprint will provide an easy way to "upgrade" to 2.0 without losing everything on the phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIf I use MyBackup to backup my phone before upgrading to 2.1 does that save me from setting up my e-mail again or will I need to go thru that process again?

But i consider it now and want to know will i loose my apps if i update say i have shapewriter and its no longer avalible on the market and i update will i not be able to get it back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.
So I did the upgrade at home, no problem, then loaded My Back up from the market, and reloaded my apps and data from my SD card. I got all the way to load HTC home (109 items). At item 107, force closed pops up. Now when it goes to load the home page it's an endless cyle of forced closed.
Took it to the Sprint store, nothing they can do but reload the 2.1, come back in 2 hours . I do, go home and run threw all these steps again, but this time without loading the task killer app (store recomendation). Same results!
I wanted to ask you if there are some must do's after upgrading to 2.1.Since upgrading..the phone is very laggy and sometimes the network will just drop.I won't be able to surf or use any programs that require getting on the internet. Is there something I can do now that I'm on 2.1 to restore it's speed? Should I do a reset to the phone and then upgrade to 2.1?What have you guys done to speed up the phone?
