After upgrading to 2.1, I have not been able to locate the stock google talk program that came in 1.5. Any idea where I can find it? I don't feel like using a 3rd party one since I had no problems with the original program.

I cannot seem to get it to work in meebo or any other app. Anyone using a Google App as a secondary been able to set it up for chat/talk? If so, how or what app worked for you?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anybody else having a problem with google talk and receiving a "[somebody] did not receive your chat" message whenever you try to IM somebody? It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. Our friends who don't have droids can talk to one-another, but any message to or from us have issues. Could be coincidence but I thought I'd ask.

With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.
I have a Motorola Fire XT530. I have been seraching this forum to find ways to ROOT it in order to install Google Talk with Voice & Video Chat. Is the XT720 similar to XT530?

View 45 Replies View RelatedI have a relatively new EVO 4G, and I've noticed that for some reason trying to chat with a contact using Talk and Quick Contacts doesn't work. When I pop up the Quick Contact for a person who's online, I see a second dialer icon. When I press that, it gives me the option to use various chat methods, including Talk (and Skype). However, when I choose Talk, it asks me to "Complete action using" and gives me a huge list of things, but none of which are Talk.

It really gives a nice sense the "back and forth" of real life conversation...and to also help distinguish one's own comments from those of the person one is conversing with...particularly if there's no actual photo in the phone book to show the person (you can still see the back and forth pattern Seems like such a great idea and so simple to implement! Why the heck can't they do that on our Android phone?

They are coming across as IM's and I can reply back but if I clear the notification, for the life of me I can't find the app on the phone that is doing this? How are these IM's getting to me and what app can I open up to reply? I do not want to just be able to drop down the notifications to reply I want to use te app. Again these are NOT SMS messages these are actual IM's.
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIm still trying to get a good feel for what i am doing before i go and root my phone and flash a custom rom. my last real question is i see so many different custom roms people are using. where can i find all these to put on my phone. also i am on 2.1 do i have to use a 2.something custom rom or can i use any custom rom. im at about an 95% user ability as far as using my phone and computer. i have never hacked/ flashed/ altered anything like a phone or computer or video game system. i have always just used as is. i wanna try this becuase i have read i can go back and go stock on this if i cant do it or dont like the results.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated the firmware on my HTC Hero some time ago from Modaco to Firmware 1.5.I just got an N1, so I restored the Hero to give to my wife, and the next thing I noticed is there was no Google Maps. I went in to the Market and again...I couldn't even pull it in a search even though I pulled it in searches on my N1.
Does anyone know what's up here? Do I need to upgrade my firmware? If so, does anyone have a link to the install?
I am running 2.0 and can't find mode of Operation? Anyone know how to find it. Previous versions had it under mobile network settings.

Step 4, Hit the set as ringtone button and below screen appears
Step 5, select trim ringtone and below screen appears. When in this screen you can adjust ringtone from each end to where it begins and ends. There is a play button and a left and right arrow. The left and right arrow allow for second to second adjusting.
