I have a gmail and a Google Apps account. I have been able to set up the gmail account for both chat and mail. I have only been able to set the Google App up for mail. I cannot seem to get it to work in meebo or any other app. Anyone using a Google App as a secondary been able to set it up for chat/talk? If so, how or what app worked for you?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anybody else having a problem with google talk and receiving a "[somebody] did not receive your chat" message whenever you try to IM somebody? It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. Our friends who don't have droids can talk to one-another, but any message to or from us have issues. Could be coincidence but I thought I'd ask.

With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.
Anyone lately get the Google talk authentication error notification repeatedly and find that they can no longer download apps from the Android market? Mine is going on the third day now and endless Google searches reveal that this problem has affected various Android devices worldwide, including the Incredible that just came out. I've tried all kind of suggestions but none work and there doesn't seem to be any official response from Google on the matter. I wonder if it is a hardware problem since these forums are not buzzing on these issues at all. In my case the phone worked perfectly for 2 days after activating and knowing how high the demand has been surely more people would be experiencing the same issues were it a device or cloud software problem. If anyone else has the same problems please post here.

I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

I was chatting with my brother Joseph with Google Talk on my incredible. He's chatting using a computer at work and i'm using google talk on my phone via Wifi at my home. We're both using google talk. There's was another person on my end of the phone chatting with my brother and I didn't notice it. The text highlighted Red is the douchbag hacker. My name is Austin in the conversation. So this douchbag was telling my brother where my sister lived. In the end, it seems as there were a networking problem but I have no idea.

I think I understand that you need 2 accounts for gmail to get one on the HTC Mail widget. One registered to the phone, which only uses the gmail of the phone. The second allows you to associate it to the widget.My question is, I figure the google account associated to the phone is the one that has gtalk associated with it. Correct? Can you log out of that one and use the 2nd account for gtalk as well? Or are you stuck to only using the google account associated to the phone?The reason I am asking is we use Google Talk at work as our IM service, and would need to use that at times, but also want to be able to turn on my personal one as well.
View 6 Replies View Relatedgoogle talk is not notifying me when i get a new message i just look and its there. i have notifications enabled in settings on talk. does the same thing on my wifes incredible. my droid did not have this problem. can anyone else confirm they have the same problem or a solution for it. i much prefer realtime chat over sms texting.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a relatively new EVO 4G, and I've noticed that for some reason trying to chat with a contact using Talk and Quick Contacts doesn't work. When I pop up the Quick Contact for a person who's online, I see a second dialer icon. When I press that, it gives me the option to use various chat methods, including Talk (and Skype). However, when I choose Talk, it asks me to "Complete action using" and gives me a huge list of things, but none of which are Talk.

It's logged in to an email address I don't want to use. Is there a way for me to switch it to another one or be able to choose between the two of them? Is the auto login a glitch? I dont really use gchat on the phone so I dont want it to run unless i open up the app.The same occurs with google voice (which i only have set up for voicemail). This one I dont care too much if its on since at least its useful for voicemail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got the OTA Froyo update for my HTC Incredible on Verizon. Now when i go in to the People application and touch the icon next to a person's name, the menu comes up with two "phones" on it, one to make a call, and one where gtalk used to be. When i touch the second phone, it brings up a list of crazy apps to associate it with. Most of the apps to associate are not actually anything.
Has anyone esle experienced this? I'm not rooted (yet) and to be honest im growing tired of the junky HTC apps on this thing. I'd love to just have the android contacts manager because i think it'll interface better than the htc ones.
Has anyone else noticed that typing in landscape in gtalk is less than ideal?
First, the entire window is taken up by the input screen and the keyboard, so
you don't get to see what your partner is typing (other than an abbreviated preview in the notification bar).
Second, every time you press 'enter' to send the message, the keyboard disappears. This can be a good and bad thing depending on what you're trying to do. But, most often, it interrupts the flow of the conversation and slows me down.
I wish there was a way to change this...

I'd like to be able to use Google Talk on my Hero and his BB in lieu of SMS for chatting with him while at work, so that I can turn my phone on Airplane mode with only wifi on to save my battery (signal is terrible in my office)My concern is that I'm not sure if Google Talk is always connected like his BBM seems to be. Anyone have any insight on this? I see that "Automatically Log In" is an option....but say for instance we don't chat for a few days and he decides to send me a message. Will it be pushed to my phone?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?
why I'm not able to sign out of Google Talk? I have 2 Gmail accounts and want to switch over to my other one. I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. This is something that I just can't get by because I need to start using G Talk now.

I added a few of my family members to my chat as SMS (just their phone numbers), and I can chat with them via chat for me, and SMS for them in any browser. Is it possible to send SMS via Google Talk on Android? I assume it's possible because it's possible on a PC, but why hasn't Google added the support? I guess the carriers wouldn't like it much, but that shouldn't stop Google.
