so i been searching the net for the last 2 hours and i have found thatt ANdroid can not play FLAC or AAC ( M4A ) lossless files? Comon such a great OS with that type of FLAW? Or am i just totaly blind and not see it ? default player, tunewiki, mixzing none of them play it ....

Okay I've spent a lot of time searching forums, googling, and all that, but as far as I know, there is not a single player that supports gapless playback for mp3 files. I have found an app that can play lossless audio: andLess, but it crashes all the time on my Droid X. I haven't rooted yet, although I plan on doing it after the 2.2 update, but I'll throw away my plans if it means I can actually turn my phone into a competent music player. Is there any app out there that does those two things? I'll even settle for having two separate apps for each, but I don't see how this is so difficult an app to make. When I first got my phone, I was happy that I would no longer have any use for my iPod touch, but this is just saddening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would appreciate to hear from you what would be the available options in Android to perform a lossless jpeg rotation of a jpeg image -> Rearranging the image data from landscape to portrait by rotation without ever fully decoding the image. My problem is that my device's camera always take the images in landscape mode and sometimes I would need to rotate the image to portrait to be used in my application. This takes time and memory if I need to do it in the standard way (decode the image, apply rotation operation to the pixels and encode again). Doing it without decoding the image would bring a significant improvement in performance. I have seen that in Android platform (Cupcake) jpegtran.c (which performs this operation beautifully) is available under /external/jpeg but this functionality is not available (a.f.a.k) on the application framework. How can I use this function? I guess I need to use JNI to be able to access this functionality, right? Other ways? Could you give me any hint on how I could do this or if there is another easier and quicker way to do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy entire CD collection is ripped in the Apple Lossless format (.m4a). I tried dragging some of the tracks to my EVO, but it does not recognize the tags, and it won't even play them. I had no problem doing this on my Pre. Therefore, I can only assume that the format, shocking as it may be, is not supported by either the EVO or perhaps by Android in general. Is this correct?
View 28 Replies View RelatedBeen struggling with this since receiving my X. Seems like no matter what player I use the playback is jerky. It's very subtle, almost as if the video is dropping a frame or so every second. I've tried the stock player, Astro, Rockplayer, mPlayer, Zimly, Act, and the list goes on and the problem still persists.
I've encoded (using handbrake) with all of the settings suggested on the boards and have tweaked things on my own trying to find the proper setting, but still no luck. The strange and frustrating thing is that the exact same files play just fine on my 1st gen iPod touch (clearly an inferior piece of hardware) and on my wife's incredible. These encodes are of standard def DVDs at average settings (a full movie is about 1.3gb, all h.264 mp4 files.
I was able to improve playback by rebooting the X and then playing the video, but this doesn't seem like an acceptable solution every time I want to watch something. I tend to encode and watch a lot of stuff on my commute to/from work, and I'd really like to replace my touch with the X, but the media capabilities are falling way short. Considering switching to the Inc as I know it's able to play my media properly, but I'd prefer to keep the X for the larger screen size (though the Inc does seem to feel better when using one-handed). I'm on the fence right now, but if the X can't function as expected then it might be going back. Unfortunately I only have until the 1st to return it so I don't think I can hold out and see if 2.2 fixes this issue.
Okie dokie, so my iPod Classic has taken a trip into a small stream (oops! don't ask me how...)Can't exactly afford another one just yet, so I was going to use my Desire as a stand in for the time being. Only problem is maybe 90% of my library is Apple Lossless encoded, which the Desire won't play! I really don't want to have to sit there converting everything and having duplicates all over the place. Is there any software that will allow me to play this codec on the Desire?

I recently installed a 16GB microSD card so I was thinking it could be an issue with this card, but I'm not sure.

The bundled sample video (Hero_Sample_Video.mp4) is playing nice and smooth. However, when I try to encode a file in the same format with ffmpeg, I get jerky playback. Videos seem to play slower, then quicker, then slower, etc. I'm encoding with the same settings as the sample clip, i.e. H.264, 480x320 and 48 kHz Stereo AAC audio. I have tried low and high bitrates, different quantizers and even two different containers: MP4 and M4V. I fail to obtain smooth playback even with the H.264 settings from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AndroidVideoEncoding aimed at Android phones. Smooth video playback is obviously possible on this phone, since the 30 FPS full screen sample clip plays back without a hitch, so what are the secret flags I need to pass ffmpeg to attain this holy grail?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had my G2 Touch for nearly a month now and I am noticing that when listening to music in the music player there is a lot of skipping and stuttering. It seems to be worse with particular tracks. I also listen to spotify offline playlists which seem to be OK. Initially, I noticed the problem was worse when I had Last.fm scrobbling turned on...but now that and all data hungry apps are off (that I can think of) and still the bad playback. I am wondering if it is specific to my phone - in which case I am probably still able to get T-mobile to exchange it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try and playback music via BT, regardless of music player (I've tried 3) the music playback speeds up, slows down, speeds up, etc., and will NOT play at a consistant speed. All background processes are disabled, etc. I do NOT notice this same thing during video playback (although there is a 40ms delay in audio sync from the video), but it plays at a constant speed.

All help will be greatly appreciated. By the way this is all in regards to the hero, okay I'll get into it. 1. Okay the first is concerning to rooting and ROMs, as you all know the hero is well known for all its problems and hiccups (as evident by all the Qs on this forum regarding hero), e.g screen glitches and flickers, key board fails to register, no video play back on certain formats, problems with the social websites sync, computer sync issues, downloading apps, list keeps on going (see forum threads). My question is, if I were to root and get a custom ROM this would void my warranty which would be a problem if any any of the problems above (which are likely) were to occur, so what I want to know is if I root and do the ROM, is there any way I can 'uninstall' so to speak so as to not void my warranty? 2. I run a mac so will this pose any complications regarding syncing, or loading music etc? 3. I hear many problems in regards to the video playback formatting, I am unclear as to what this implies, does this refer to loading videos from your computer to the device? i just want to confirm that these problems do not refer to playback of videos that were actually taken with the phone.....

after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

iv heard ppl who downloaded android 2.2 online and installed it themselves on there phone since its not being offered ota. but im wondering if its safe? the phone is not actually getting 2.2 ever, so doing this would be my own choice. but im wondering if it will run smoothly, better than 2.1 update 1, and if there will be any problems or if anything that may not work because of compatability problems with the phone. because some people have said that 2.2 isnt being released to the hero because the phone is not physically capeable of it do to software and hardware (such as space ram speeds etc.), and others have said they installed it themselves and it works fine, that its actually made to run using less space then 2.1 making it better.

The only tome I had any frustrations was getting the clips unhooked also removing the cracked piece from the super strong adhesive. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
