Sprint HTC Hero :: AOL Stopped Syncing

I have had the Hero since October 9 and never had a problem syncing my AOL email with my Hero. I have had it set to sync every 15 minutes and all worked well. About a week ago I started noticing issues with not getting my messages consistently and I started seeing a message below the emails saying "Get More Messages ____ messages total on server" (I don't recall seeing this message before). If the number of messages on the server is greater than what I have on my phone, I can manually sync and they will down load. Sometimes my messages will sync, but not consistently. As I type this I see that I was showing 9 messages and the server had 11 so I manually synced and two more messages downloaded to the phone but they were from over an hour ago. I have tried deleting the account and re-setting it up but that doesn't seem to correct the issue.
(BTW, my exchange messages still sync fine).

This isn't a compatibility issue. Okay so when I first installed HTC sync it was fine. I used it to install the latest ROM from T-mobile. I haven't used it since seeing as I didn't really have any need to. But today I though I may as well try it. So I turn my phone on. Plug it in. Drag down the notify bar. HTC sync. Sync now.
Pop-up on my computer says syncing calendar. Then it stops after 2 items. I look at my phone and it says HTC sync stop unexpectedly and I had to force close it. So I go into setting and try using HTC sync from there. But then my computer tells me the connection to my phone has times out. So, I restart my phone this time I get to 4 items. But the same thing happens.

I downloaded a movie via a torrent then converted it to MP4 format via Videora. The transfer from my computer to the HTC Hero looked good. However, when i go to "music" on my phone, I don't see the movie there. I only see audio files. Is there something I'm doing wrong? As a side note, when i check the properties of this video on my PC, it says Opens with: "Unknown Application." Could this be the problem?

I synced all my gmail contacts to my phone but now when I go into gmail and check my contacts I have 1 that keeps showing up multiple times. Last time I looked he had over 50 entries. I deleted all but 1 and an hour later he's back another 25 times. I just put the 2.1 leak on my phone yesterday. Maybe that's the problem? Strange that it's only the 1 contact though.

I've been unable to actually sync my HERO to my computer I've got the HTC Sync software installed, and when I plug in the usb cable from the computer, to the phone. The only selection that comes up is to mount/unmount the SD Card. Not to sync.

Is anyone having problems with Gmail syncing? I am using the Gmail app and started this afternoon I am not getting push email anymore. If I open the app and select Menu --> Refresh, the new messages pop in there. I did a soft reset and made sure Gmail was set to sync automatically.

I'm not sure if it's just me or not. Yesterday my phone stopped connecting to facebook.It doesn't update in the people anymore, but does just fine with the fb app from the market.I thought maybe I did something to screw it up so I decided to reset the phone and start over.Now I have nothing linked to facebook and not sure if there is a setting I'm overlooking or not.When I go into the people app, and then try to link someone I know is a friend,it pulls up nobody for any option.Anyone else having an issue with this?Any suggestions for fixing this?I have tried syncing through the settings>account and syc. I'm running stock 2.1 so you all know.

Is there anyone else out there having trouble with Pandora staying connected? After I tune in to a station that I like and leave my phone, I will notice that my music has stopped playing. But, (sometimes) when I come back to my phone, the music will start back up. Then again, more times than none, when I come back to the phone, the program has stopped responding and I will have to restart the entire program.

I recieved an error two days ago saying "out of disk space". After restoring my phone to factory the ability to receive MMS/SMS went kaput! Surprisingly I can send but not receive messages. I was on the phone with Sprint for hours with to technicians. One of the techs implied that some of the early batch of phones from Best Buy have this issue. This is just one of the techs viewpoint. I am going to swap the phone today and see if it resolves the issue. I switched to Sprint specifically for TEXT so this could be a deal breaker. More to follow.

Gmail app stopped working and syncing today. if i manually press the refresh button it crashes and the message that gives me is "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and i press force close button cause thats is my only option. Anybody has the same problem?

after going quite some time without any gmail issues, it's back again. My gmail account has suddenly stopped fetching my emails. Of course this happens when I'm away from home with no access to my gmail account other than my hero. When I go to my gmail webpage and settings on my hero, I noticed that there wasn't the option to manually fetch mail. Then I remembered that you had to change the gmail address to http instead of https due to some security issue they had. But when I try to do this via Dolphin on the hero, I can't seem to find a way to change the web address to http.

It worked fine for the first 3 weeks. As of a couple of days ago it is not. If I try to use it I get a popup that says: Sorry - The application of Camera (process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. The button below says 'Force close'. What could I have done? How do I fix it? Also my battery life at the same time has gone from acceptable to horrendous. Is this related or coincidence?

Recently my Phonefusion voicemail stopped working. I don't think that it's related to the 2.1 update, because it was working fine until a few days ago. It seems that when people call me, after 4 or 5 rings, it goes to voicemail, but my voicemail greeting does not come on, and therefore people are not aware that their call is in voicemail. They just think that I've picked up. And then when I try to retrieve/listen to my voicemail, there is just this buzzing sound.

I had used Androot to root my HTC hero, today i updated the phone with the new system update on sprint HTC hero baseband version 2.42.01.04.27 software no2.31.651.7 and after the update the wifi teether stopped working. can anyone suggest what should i do to get it enabled. i tried uninstalling androot and resinstllaing androot and wifi tether program. when i try to do unroot it is failing.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what information is stored how between google and my phone, particulalry with respect to my (postal) addresses. I noticed that if I add an address to a contact it shows up fine on my phone, but not in my gmail account (even after waiting several hours and manually syncing the phone). However, if I add an address in my gmail account it shows up in both gmail and my contacts on my phone. Furthermore, when I use google maps on my phone and hit "directions" I can start entering the name of my contact and it will pop up in the list for me to choose if I had entered it via gmail or the phone. But if I instead hit the little bookmark icon next to the box for the address and hit the contacts options, it gives me a list of contacts that have addresses, but only contacts for whom those addresses had been entered on my phone.I should also note that all my contacts are stored as google contacts and not phone contacts. But it does seem as if addresses are somehow being stored as phone only when I add them via the phone, and that this is somewhat intentional since choosing contacts in google maps lists only those phone-entered contacts. Does anyone understand what's going on here?

Is there a way to sync music and also PLAYLISTS onto the Hero? I know I can easily drag-n-drop files onto my Hero's SD card, and also use programs like MediaMonkey or Windows Media Player to sync music, but I can't seem to sync playlists. I have to manually create playlists on the Hero music app on the phone, and that is a pain.

Noticed yesterday that I wasn't getting any new Gmail. After about 12 hours of no syncs I went in and played with settings, turning the sync on-and-off, and it finally synced again.
Well, now it has gone 13 hours without a sync according to the settings, and nothing I do seems to make it want to sync.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am running 2.1, and sync has worked since the upgrade for at least a few days. I have installed no new apps, I did delete one (Engadget reader, so nothing important)

Last night I was bored and browsing through my soundboards looking for a new ringtone. I was opening and closing apps, running task killer, if I thought it necessary. Everything was fine, until all of a sudden my media volume stopped working. On screen, while I'm playing media, I can pull the volume up and down, but no sound comes out. The Alarm volume, and ringer volume continue to work. So this morning I snooped around the forums and decided to reset my phone. All was going well, until I accidentally played some mp3's that were on my SD card. Now the media volume has stopped working again and when I turn on my phone, my music app has attached itself to that screen that you have to pull down to log in.
I didn't request that, and can't find a way to turn that off in the settings. To be honest, I am a new user. I've had my hero for two weeks, and I'd love to know that my problems are user error and not a faulty phone. I've also re-downloaded task killer and am wondering if that was a bad choice. I'm still at the point of just playing with my phone: launching apps, installing, uninstalling, etc, and it seemed like a good idea. In a worst case scenario, I'm thinking of deleting the mp3's and doing another reset. But if I have to keep doing this regularly, the exercise will get a little old.

I used to get stuff like "turn left onto such and such street." Now I get "such and such street" and I have to look up to see whether the arrow is left or right. So, I checked settings. I'm on "full audio." But, I set it to instructions only, saved settings, even rebooted the phone, then reopened the app, but no change. I set it back to full audio, saved, reboot, nothing. Still not getting full prompts, the way it used to.. NOTHING changed, that I can figure out. It just stopped working properly on Friday. I'm running Fresh 1.1 rom, but I flashed that about 2 weeks ago and the navigation prompts were working fine .. until Friday.

I want profile pictures of my contacts on both my phone and web email. Which is the best way to do this. If I match pictures to contacts on my phone will it sync with my web mail contacts, or will it work if I sync my google contacts on my web mail, then sync to my phone. Will either achieve my goal of having the picture attached to the contact on both my phone and web browser? OR must I do each one on the phone, and on the web mail browser?

I have recently rooted my phone as well as flashed the Cyanogen v6 ROM (FroYo). The only issue I am having is with syncing but not in the usual sense. In everything but the contacts app I can see my google contacts (chompSMSu is an example). I can successfully go into my Gmail and basically anything else Google related. It's only the actual contact list that isn't showing up, even though syncing elsewhere is possible.
I have checked the syncing options, did a factory reset, flashed to a different rom (and come back again) and it still isn't working.

I have recently gone up from Fresh 1.1 to Fresh 2.0d. Everything is working great, but for some reason Exchange items are not showing up in the calendar. The exchange calendar is selected in the calendar selection option. Items added to the phone calendar as exchange items are synced to my Outlook/Exchange calendar, so there is some communication going on. However, my calendar stubbornly refuses to display the Exchange items.
Anyone know why this might be? I can't figure it out...

For no apparent reason, my phone stopped checking for email (on 5 separate accounts) G-mail still pushed fine, so it took a couple of days for me to notice, but in the meantime, my battery life nearly doubled.
A re-boot fixed the email issue and battery life is back to normal- 12-18 hours average use. I had set the other five accounts to check for mail at varying times. One was set for every 30min, the rest were every 2 hours (or more).
I did not realize what a battery drain email checking was causing.
