Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Bluetooth Voice-call Support Apps Or Wait Until 2.2 Release?
Oct 28, 2010
I've just realized that such feature is only Froyo supported, I really need that while driving, do you know about apps to get such feature working?

Seriously, 2.1 still doesn't do voice dialing over Bluetooth. I have been patiently waiting for 2.1 to come out and finally installed it tonight. Fired it up and there still isn't a way to voice dial over Bluetooth? This is nuts! I am getting rid of this piece of crap! I am done unless I am missing something.

I know this is nothing to do with the Android aspect of the Xperia X10 but was wondering what the rest of you thought of the voice call quality. The Wife and I both have one and when I call my friends on mine they say they can barely understand what I'm saying, when the Wife calls me on hers to my office land line I can barely understand what she is saying and to be honest calling each other on them is equally as bad. I'm going to test out both phones tonight with the wife using our home land line and see what she thinks... She's always had a mobile where I on the other hand wasn't interested in them until recently now they are more like a mobile office than just a phone. I'm never in a "bad" signal strength area when people tell me to speak up and I don't talk quietly anyway, they also tell me that as well as the muffled/distorted voice it's grainy and drops out frequently... Like someone is intermittently muting the mic, for example. I've had a ferret about the net and I'm drawing a blank, a few reviews say the voice call quality is poor/awful but than there are loads of others that say it's great. I love the phone and the rest of it is outstanding! I've stuck the Helix launcher on it, downloaded plenty apps for work (I'm a Software Engineer for Networked DVR's) including TFTP,FTP,SSH clients/servers, synchronized my calender and contacts with Gmail, ported all of my personal and work notes on to it, got a Dropbox set up, got a few gadgets to enable/disable the WiFi/APN/GPS as I need them so it doesn't chew up the battery... I literally almost couldn't be happier! I'm loathed to think that the one thing that doesn't actually work very well on this is in essence it's primary purpose and based on what I've read so far on the net I would say it's just my phone but as we have two doing the same thing it can't be. Does anyone else have a problem with the voice call audio quality or are there any known related hardware issues ?

My X10 is just one day old.If not anything I was hoping the call quality be good. The voice of the person on the other end is horrible, i previously had a black berry pearl, I checked the website for factors which cause bad call quality. Even though my signal strength is good, charge is full , the call volume is less, the other person is not in an elevator , not using any blue tooth or microphone or not using the speaker mode, the call quality si still bad.Has anybody faced this?. Did I get the wrong piece. Please help. Will android update fix this?

I'm having trouble retrieving / viewing the call history (X10) with a bluetooth connection to a built in car kit.i.e. missed / incoming / outgoing. The only option I get is phonebook and then have to scroll through to the required number.Have I missed something? Is this feature supported (can't find anything in the user manual) or will I need to use an app?I know the car kit supports this feature as my work Nokia (basic phone only) is fine.

I am planning to buy a 32 gb micro sdhc card for my Xperia X10.However, I have found tons of confusing and conflicting information here on SE forums and all over the net.To my surprise, even Sony Ericsson itself giving conflicting information regarding this.On the product page of Xperia X10 (click this link and click on the specifications), it says that Xperia X10 supports microSD up to 16GB only.Whereas the official Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 White paper (on page no.5) says that it supports -microSD, up to 32 GB. (The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 White paper can be downloaded from this link). Now i urge someone, preferably an SE moderator or staff, to enlighten on this matter and answer how and why SE is giving contradictory and confusing statements regarding the sd card capability and compatibility for the same product?.

Hi. I am looking for some advice with regards to how I receive calls on my Xperia X10i. Basically, the story goes as follows...normally when I receive a call I have to do that swipe thing to accept the call, however, at very random times instead of the swipe I get the option of pressing 'Accept Call' or 'Decline Call' which are displayed on the lower part of the screen side-by-side. Now, to be perfectly honest I actually prefer the latter option but do not know why it is so random. To be clear, I have never updated my phone since I got it and I have searched the settings but not been able to locate anything which would explain this.

I have another problem with the X10 Android phone. I tried to set the user support and I get this message
Sorry! The application user support (process com.sonyericsson.android.support) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Force Closure.
Is this a great error message. When I retry 15-20 times, it does not work still.

My initial doubts about the x10 were over its specs, such as no multitouch and an apparently slow sticky interface
Now they are more about Sony Ericsson and how well they will support the phone with software updates etc. Several bad indications:
- Complaints have been made in the past about SE sucking at this for other phones
- Phone was due out Jan 18. Arrived more than 2 months later
- Phone came out with an old o/s (1.6) while other phones came out with 2.1 at the same time.
- SE have said they wont provide an update until the end of the year!! incredibly slow. By then android 2.8 will be out. pathetic
I want to get a well supported phone that is going to improve and evolve.

Reading the new hands on over at Tech Radar has got me pretty excited about the X10 - seems a remarkable beast. But they seem to suggest a lack of widget support on the device - leaving me in a quandery, I love the widget support of the HTC Hero (and its successors), but am truly tempted by the X10s larger screen, its Racheal/Time/Mediascape UI and camera technology. So far, has anyone noticed support for widgets on the device? Obviously certain widgets are redundant with Time/Mediascape, but news, weather widgets are a big draw for me.

All arab users have a huge problem represented by the lack of arabic language in the phone and the SE help center advises us to use Third-Party application that supports arabic language. Is there any intention to support arabic language in the xperia x10 in the coming update or any time in the near or far future?

Almost all major smartphones that have similar specs with the X10 are getting the Froyo 2.2 update treatment in the coming few weeks or in the pipeline and it's amazing that you are still sitting on this with regards to the possibility of this particular update. I hope you do realise that the company are losing customers fast and this will be killing the business as you are effectively flogging phones that are all out of date or not in keeping with the market. I only hope that the news will inevitably put some pressure on you to bring forward these updates including the 2.2 (only if...). The 2.1 update plan at the end of Q3 or beginning of Q4 and with no definitive answer whether the X10 is going to receive the 2.2 update in the future is just not good enough. Unless the 2.2 update comes in early Q4 which is highly unlikely with the way things are going if you are only going to release 2.1 then, it would be pointless.
It's no brainer to release 2.2 straightaway as opposed to the 2.1 update announced and with further updates to tweak the Timescape and Mediascape later on if they are the ones that are holding up the release of the 2.2 update. I am sick of being left in the dark with the 2.2 update. I want a definitive answer if this is going to happen OR NOT! SE's handling of this fast and competitive market is just inept and way to slow. It won't surprise me that you could be following Nokia's footsteps in the next financial year if the current situation continues. I want a phone that comes with the right support and updates it deserves (not out of date within 3 month period!). I am now thinking that perhaps I should get the Samsung Galaxy S instead. SE, please listen to the customers and take action to address what your loyal customers want and deserve.

The Xperia X10 atm, runs at android 1.6, which only recognizes 1 touch at a time on the touchscreen.
If Sony ever gives us an update to 2.1, which supports multi-touch,....Can the X10 screen support multi-touch, but restricted by the android version atm only, or is X10's screen only able to support single touch in the first place, and won't matter if android is updated?

As the title basically says it all, my LCD screen has broken. The phone was in my pocket while i was changing a flat tire, after that it was broken. The phone still works, however inside the LCD display has some strange black lines and a piece of the display remains black. I sent several emails through the SE website. The first reaction was that i had sent an email to the wrong support, and that they have forwarded my message to the appropriate support dept. From that request i haven't heard anything yet ( 1 week ago). Since i bought my phone online, the phone originated from Hong Kong. So i sent an email to Hong Kong support. They replied to update the software using the SEUS. I sent them a reply that updating the software didn't help, but i have not received another reply since. I also sent another support request to what i believe is the right support for my location (Aruba, Caribbean), but i didn't get a reply, not even a confirmation of my support request.
So now I don't know what to do with my phone, where I live there is no SE service center or any dealer or anything that can fix it. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get my phone fixed? Many thanks in advance.
