Oct 28, 2010Everything on ymy phone turned japanese today - keyboard texts mails etc - sorted now but have lost all my contacts - can i retrieve them?

Oct 28, 2010Today i tried to download new software - didn't know what it was but went with it - my key bopard changed to japanese - still strange but managed to sort it - but in the process lost all my contacts and photos and text threads - where are they?

Nov 14, 2010I updated my phone to the new firmware version. Followed all steps including backing up all my phone entries (logs/messages/contacts etc...) and went through the update with flying colors. The new update is amazing but for some reason after recovering all of my (previously saved) things, I found out I'm missing more than half of my contacts!
Anyone know what's going on? I can find my whole phone book through my text messaging application when searching for a name but if I go into my actual phone book I have like the last 6 entries that I added only... I've tried importing from sim/sd card nothing works...

Oct 30, 2010I have upgraded the SD card in my phone to 4gb and now I have also lost all of my contacts Last week I lost the ability to download/update anything from Market and now this! I have used the option to copy all my contact from the SIM card and that doesn't work AND the SE sync will not work either, and just constantly fails to complete synchronization.

I upgraded my X10 mini pro to Android 2.1 today and I followed the instructions and the YouTube video EXACTLY step by step.I made a back-up before the update, with the updated Back-up & restore app.Now the Android update is done and i've tried and tried but I can't get my contacts back. Every time I run the restore function of Back-up & restore it tells me the restore is done, but when I go to my contacts list, it's empty.

Nov 17, 2010I have upgraded my OS from 1.6 to 2.1 today using the PC companion.
As suggested, I have taken the backup using the backup & restore app.
After, the phone got upgraded, I could find only facebook contacts in my list.
then i went to View options and played around with all the check boxes and i could view the contacts.
how ever, i could see each contact having the numbers multiple times inside it.
so, I deleted the contacts and tried to restore them again.
the restore was successful. i can see the contacts in my favorites list. when i dial/receive calls, i can still see the contact name.
but, the contacts are not being shown in the list. i know this is a weird problem.

I really need to type Chinese and Japanese and found that there's no such input method. However, I can view my SMS and mails in other languages through side panels. Is this a big mistake?

May 28, 2010Went to send a text this morning from Handcent and noticed that my keyboard had changed a bit. The enter key and the key the farthest on the bottom left both have Japanese characters on them. Also, the key to add a question mark/exclamation mark is not on the board now. I thought it might just be Handcent, so I tried the stock messaging program and the keyboard has the same problem!

Aug 3, 2010My X10i keeps dropping its WiFi conection. It is in an "excellent" signal strength area. I can now see that is related to my poor mobile network coverage at home. When the mobile network signal drops, then the WiFi turns off and the turns on again, scans and reconnects. When the mobile network connects again (after a minute or two) the WiFi turns off, then on again, scans and reconnects. This cycling is happening every minute or two. Which leads to lots of frustrating network errors. Things improve if I turn off 3G and set network to GSM only.

Nov 1, 2010I have been having problems trying to keep the wi-fi ON for a continuous period of time. Every time i turn on the wifi, and leave the phone idle after using an app, the connection is automatically disconnected. I did change the advanced wifi settings sleep policy to Never, but still shows disconnected. I am sure that i am well in the range of my wireless router and that it is switched on at all times. This is very annoying cause i have to turn ON and OFF the wireless adapter on my phone to regain connection to use other apps.

Jun 24, 2010I bought a new sony ericsson x10 mini the other day and it is a fantastic phone. It is running in the Android system which is really good. The only thing that I can not figure our is that when I open up an application I don't know how to close them so I am left with multiples of Apps open at the same time. Oct 15, 2010So I connect my phone to my PC to transfer the Angrybirds apk over. Then it says updates available. Foolishly, I take the update, follow all the instructions and now - it seems I've lost everything.
No contacts, no apps, no history, no ADW launcher with all the lovely themes and widgets and all the set-up I spent ages doing,...
What's going on? Have I lost it. Nothing much recovered when I tried to restore a back-up. Need to google register everything again.
I can see folders for apps that I had in the PC companion; but I can't seem to recover anything.

Aug 3, 2010I've had to do a system update to my phone as it completely locked itself after too many unlock attempts in my pocket and I didn't know my google account. Basically, before my update I had a Satnav app, that I'm pretty sure i didn't download but was on my phone from stock (but I might be wrong). I think it was called Navigation, and it had an update recently that allowed it to have vocal commands, i.e. "Turn left in 100 yards" etc. It had the same blue arrow that the Google Maps Navigation had as the app icon. It's useful to me as I'm a delivery driver and when you get near to the 'target' house it shows a picture of which house it is, it's really accurate, and has that satellite layer on it that helps out too. I really need this app back and have been looking (both on the marketplace and on the phones memory) for it for a while to no avail.

Nov 11, 2010I tried to update the phone by connecting it to computer thru PC companion and followed the instructions till the time it asks to disconnect the phone from computer remove battery for 5 secs and turn on again.

Nov 30, 2010Since I installed the latest upgrade 2.1 (successfully), I lost the keypress sound which was very useful. I tried the Settings/Sound and Display/Audible touch tones menu, and the Language & Keyboard/ Sound on keypress menu, in both cases I selected "on" but still I don't hear the keyboard sound which I find very useful since I am partially sighted.
