After updating to 2.1 I noticed something new in the Phonebook. Short pressing on a contact gave 3 icons regarding that contact; call, text and one other I can't remember. Since then I've re-installed the old apps including ADW launcher and now these 3 icons are nowhere to be found. How I can get these icons back?

I've got my X10 yesterday, and was transferring my phone book across. But i use to have one name with 2 number such as "mobile + home" .. but it only transfered one across, so i want to edit the contacts, but it's really slow so is there a way i can link my computer to edit my phone books like the nokia pc suit. because I've downloaded a pc companion which does nothing except updating and transferring files.

When I have a "Phone Contact" with the name "ABCD" and "Facebook" contact of the same person with "BCDE", after merging, phonebook starts to display as "BCDE" and not "ABCD" and to worsen, though I edit it manually to display the name I like, it doesn't.

I have reimported my contacts from the SIM, but these are in a mess and need a lot of editing. Is there anyway to edit the phonebook contacts via my PC rather than through the phone interface. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem for last couple of weeks - When I got the phone (around 2 months ago), I created all my main contacts, added their names, numbers and email addresses. So, at least a month goes by, but then one or two contacts start losing their phone numbers (the name and email address remains). I have tried everything from simply entering and saving the number again via the phone book and even adding the number from text messages sent by the person in question - each time I have ensured that I have clicked 'done' and/or the save symbol. I exit the phone book, but if I check back later it's been lost again. This seems to happen with only one or two particular contacts - I am not sure what is unique about them. Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I have read the manual re: phone book, so I am following all of the steps so I am not sure whether or not the phone has a fault.

This is no good, because I have fat fingers.
I have managed, in my clumsiness to join two contacts together that should not be. The unholy matrimony is causing me great distress, and I wish to undo what I have done.
To clarify, I've accidentally joined two contacts together, and can now neither delete the new merged contact, nor "unjoin" them.
I've tried turning the facebook and google sync off and reloading the backup I made from 1.6. All to little or no avail.
And by "little to no avail" I actually mean it didn't work at all.
Anyone know some super-secret insider knowledge on how to fix this shizzle?
Also, simply saying "run a repair on the phone to restore it back to factory 2.1" is no good, as I am highly likely to do this sort of stuff on a psuedo-regular basis.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my 2.1 update this week in Belgium. As i was synchro'ing my facebook contacts in my phonebook, i noticed that my phone doesn't sync all my contacts with facebook. Wen i tried to do this manually per contact, some fb persons do not appear in my "choose contact" list however the contact has the same name in my phone as on facebook ? It appears that the sync is random in choosing the contacts and some contacts'fb profile don't appear if u do the sync manually ? Anyone with the same problem? Example: a friends name is Bianca in my phone, on her facebook profile the same name followed by familyname, but my phone doesn't find her profile when i search manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the X10 this week and its all up to date with software however I am having major issues with phonebook. Whenever I try and add contacts to my favorites in phonebook they only stay there for a few seconds before they vanish. When viewing call log if I try and save a number by adding a contact again this will do it for only a few seconds and then just delete the contact.
Facebook links on the contacts aren't coming through and painfully slow to link all the address book up. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I have downloaded a different version of phonebook but I didn't think it looked as good as the default and want to make the normal one work.
For some weird reason my phonebook stopped working today. When I clicked on the name, instead of loading up the contacts details, it just froze. When I help the name for a while, a menu would pop up and as soon as I entered view contact details, it forced closed. I deleted the app, in the hopes that I could re-install it from Titanium, but that didn't happen. I've checked the market but cant seem to find it. I don't have to go through the entire root procedure again?

Seems I just lost all my phonebook... the only reason I think it could have happened is because I cleared data regarding my google sync adress? Is this the case? There was a message mentionning i would lose data if I do so, but why is my phonebook that is normally on my sim card disappeared since I re adjusted google sync? Except that Sony Ericsson has changed the emoticons in the chat application.
On my phone, an HTC-03A (aka HTC Magic), the emoticons look like little aliens. (Yes, I know they are supposed to be robots, like the Android logo, but my girlfriend thinks of them as "aliens" because they have antennae and are green).
On her phone, the Xperia, they changed the icons to use regular rounded yellow happy faces and so on.
She is miffed. She likes the aliens, and considers the phone somewhat "broken" without them.
So... suddenly it's a task in my life to see if I can change the Sony Ericsson emoticons to Android "alien" icons.
I had hoped it was a matter of simply changing some image files... however, from what I see on the web, it looks like I need to:
Gain access to a file on the phone called framework-res.apk
Copy that file to a computer.
Edit the file to put in the right icons.
Put it back on the phone
I am unclear on how exactly to do these steps. The discussions I've seen were among people who seemed to have a better understanding than me, and did not explain some aspects. For example, they took it for granted that the necessary files were accessible, however I can't see where framework-res.apk is.
I have not "rooted" an Android phone before, and I'm hoping I don't have to go to truly deep levels of phone software configuration that carries the risk of destabilizing either her phone or mine.
I'm assuming I can get the correct "alien" icons off of my phone to put on hers. (I notice they have those very same icons on this forum... is there a place I can download them as a set?)
By the 'arrange icons' option I seem to be only able to delete icons (or unistall the applications). I wonder how I could move them around, as in really *arrange* them. There's a weird thing happened. I have now 5 pages of icons, but the last spot on Page 4 is always left blank. Even if I install a new app, this spot won't fill up, the new icon would appear on Page 5. I wonder how I could get rid of such nuisance.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWell I encountered a really weird and not pleasent experience with my x10 today. I had it charging overnight like probably everyone who has one does and than I unplugged it to get started for the day. However, when I unplugged it from the usb cord, the screen got locked and flashed. So I turned it off and turned it back on. Well when it came back on, I had LOST everything that I had setup on my 3 screens! No icons, no nothing! Everything was gone except for the wallpaper or theme, which was the same I had setup. I did have ADW setup as my launcher, but all my launchers were gone as well. When I held down the center button, which would normally bring up my launcher option, it brought me to the homescreen.
So now I have to go through and resetup all of the icons and screens. Not a big ordeal, but what is troubling me is why did it even happen?
I downloaded some apps from Market. They all downloaded successfully but I cannot see them when i go to Menu and then click on the 'App' Icon. When i click on the 'App' Icon it says 'To add widgets open the vodafone shop and download your widgets' I already have the apps installed on the phone for sure, just need the shortcuts to appear under the 'App' button.
