Samsung I7500 :: No Sleep Bug Often Appears?
Apr 22, 2010
I have this mobile phone for about one month. It seems no sleep bug is often appeared in many posts. What is it? For me, I have found no bugs for this phone. Some people have the "drop off" bug. It means if some one call them they cannot answer because when they are ready to answer it, the call will be cutted off suddenly sometimes. I don't know the reason. However, I think the only "bug" for me is that it is SLOW. Even when I use the "auto memory management", returning desktop costs about 1 minute sometimes. Any one can help me to solve this problem?

I reinstalled 1.6.3.3 a couple of days ago, and I've noticed that every time i disconnect the phone (after charging) I have the no sleep bug - 100% running according to spare parts. of course a reset fixes it. I thought all the no sleep bugs were fixed at 1.6.3.3. Or maybe it has something to do with ADW Launcher I installed?

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

Does GAOSP Froyo support live wallpapers for i7500? If yes, can you recommend some that seem to run fine without (major) slowdown? I would suspect that the CPU is too slow to run most live wallpapers, but there might be some neat ones that are good to go?

Sorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.

I had 1.25hrs of talk time use 60% of my battery. Not a good sign. Also, the reception has been very unstable, wavering between 1 and 3 bars all over town. My cheap Nokia go phone I was using had 4-5 bars everywhere. The wi-fi signal appears to show less bars than my other phones.

I've been noticing while looking at other i7500 reviews that my keyboard layout is completely different than all the other i7500, whether in landscape or portrait mode I don't have the caps lock key, instead i have a T9 and the printed orange colour keys is what I hate most
Pls look at this pix, and tell me what can be wrong with this keyboard.
In my settings these are the steps:
Settings>Locale & text >Samsung keyboard, that's all I have, no other Keyboard available, am I missing something or what?

The Samsung Moments battery life is due to the phone not being able to sleep.Just like the HTC Hero, there is a background service running that prevents the phone from sleeping. Except that with the Hero it is the SMS. On the Samsung Moment it is the background data services.Just like everyone else I would see a loss of 10 percent battery life in just 10 minutes. And then it would get worse from there. I started reading through these forums and looking through my phone and found that the "Background Data Sync" was on all the time. Not only was it on, but it was constantly using internet data to check and recheck everything from address book to email to updates. This constant activity rules the phone and it's battery depleting it completely. To turn it off. go to Menu on the home screen..choose settings..Data Synchronization...and then uncheck Background data.I did this last night and tested my phone. It has been 12 hours and the battery is still completely full.Hopefully someone will make a widget for controlling the Background data sync. Something that you can turn it on and off with from the main screen.

I apologize if these topics were already covered in previous threads.I wasn't able to find anything related in my searches. Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. Is this due to the number of apps I have loaded? Is it possibly due to number of photo frames I have on my home screen or the complexity of the wallpaper?

Is there any other way to take the phone out of sleep mode, other than pressing the power button? I find myself taking it out of sleep a bunch of times per day, and I just worry about how long the dinky power button will last being pressed all the time. I know its probably neurotic to worry about such things, but I just wanted to not send my fascinating Fascinate to an early grave because of some dumb button

I've noticed when the phone goes into standby mode (press the right power button), the 3G eventually turns off. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I'm assuming I can't get any notifications (i.e. Instant Messenger clients, Google Voice, etc.) while the 3G is off, but not sure. I'm also assuming 3G goes into sleep mode, as when I power the phone up I don't see the 3G icon (is that assumption correct?).

I went to bed at 1am and woke up at 10:20am. My battery was at 65% before bed and 44% when I woke up.
I killed all tasks with advanced task killer as I do throughout the day as well. I don't use the email program on my phone nor do I get any notifications for any other programs. My Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to never because I have Wi-Fi at home. Brightness is at a low setting too. So, any ideas what would be draining my battery during the overnight when I'm not using my phone? I don't have problems during the day when I use it.

I recently started having this problem. I set the screen time out for 15 seconds but the phone won't go to sleep unless I manually turn it "off." I've tried restarting the phone which helps but eventually it starts acting up again. As i type this, I haven't touched the phone in about 3 mins and the screen is still on. Any help? I;m wondering if it's an app I installed?

Every time I put it on a charger (USB or Wall), it charges and when it's done, the phone awakes and stays on. So if I don't manually put it back into sleep mode, it will sit there all lit up and drain my battery.
