I'm looking for a way to add Russian localization for GalaxHero 1.1, but I can not find anything that helped me.
Anyone tried it?
ANDROID COOKED ROM - G1 E SAMSUNG GALAXY! | Google Android
Given that us Galaxy users are ROM strapped just wondering what your personal experiences with custom themes are: In particular:
GDE
OpenHome
aHome
In terms of LAG being a major issue and customization. Watched several youtube videos of demo's but would like to have some first hand, not a G1, or a droids take on it.
I received my Galaxy today after much waiting around for O2 UK to make it available. I've been perusing both the Galaxy and other Android device forums and it seems that there's a huge amount of difference between how to get custom ringtones / notification sounds working between different phones.
Has anyone got it working on the Galaxy yet? I'd love to replace the standard sounds with Zelda ones.
Custom roms/rooting business and I'm looking for a few pointers.
1) do I need to use a computer to root my device?
2) will I be able to use flash and various other features such as installling apps to my sd card that are included in the 2.2 firmware for android, (which Samsung completely abandoned us in updating from. 2.1)?
3) (according to features listed above that I need) which rom is the best?
I've seen the Motorola Droid users doing this, but I'd like my own custom animation for the boot up screen on the Galaxy. Anyone know how you go about that? I tried copying a bootanimation.zip file in there as per the Droid instructions but looks like the Galaxy doesn't use it. Where are the boot up screen/animations stored on the Galaxy?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been through a lot of these forums and haven't found my particular problem discussed, so I'm finally posting hoping someone can help... I'm American but I live in Istanbul so the the Galaxy i7500 I've got didn't even come with the Market app and support here is impossible.
I've been able to flash stock and custom ROMs but I can't connect to my carrier (Turkcell) afterward. I can only use WiFi to do things like get access to the market, but then I have to do a restore to use my phone properly.
Currently I'm on:
PDA: I7500JTIH2
PHONE: I7500XEJC6
CSC: I7500TRCIH2
Can anyone explain how to extract the CSC from my phone so I can include when I flash a custom ROM with Odin?
Hey all, so I just got a Samsung Galaxy finally in the mail. It took long enough to figure out how to put music on it, then use my music for ringtones. But when I am in Settings for Notification Ringtones, I do not see the mp3 I added but only in Calling Ringtones. Why is this? I want to use the same ringtone for notifications too!.

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.
there I am new to this. I would like to find out some information in regards to and update for the samsung galaxy I7500.I live in Australia and it seems the phone cant be updated. Is this true. I have tried on many times to plug my phone into my computer via pc studio.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have experience with java voice recognition and localization?I'm thinking to build an android application, with some basic voice recognition options, but I want to implement localization for that based on some translate tool, maybe Google translate, and users can update his "dictionary" with new languages from remote dictionary...this project is in first phase, and I'm still brainstorming, so does anyone have some experience or is something like that even possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot to bug you here, but when I was looking for translators for my application, I came across two sites that allow translators to bid on your work. Every language known, quality work, and very competitive pricing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.
I have just been integrating the Skyhook Wireless technology into my Android application. This is the localization framework that gives a better localization by looking for wifi hotspots. As a result the position is better, at least indoors when it can find a hotspot. On the downside the library is around 300kb of size on the device. Now in Cupcake when I look at "Security & location" settings, there is an option named "Use wireless networks". This seems to be exactly the same as Skyhooks technology. However, I cant find any useful information about what kind of localization this is and weather it makes sense to drop the 300 kb library. Is Skyhook already integrated into Cupcake?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk i have an application with 2 different languages (english and german), how to change them from my application?
When i click the Language button im using intent to com.android.settings.LocalePicker and from there i select the language.
So instead of that i want to select English and German options from dialog box.
I know how to create the dialog box, but don't know how to change the locale.
I created a set of text resources in different languages:
res/values-de/strings.xml
res/values-fr/strings.xml
res/values-ja/strings.xml
when a user runs our application, the Android system selects which resources to load, based on the device's locale.
So basically I want to add language option in my application and save user language preference, then load text resources based on user preference.
Is there any way to do this?
Are there any major localization related changes in Eclair, when compared to Donut? Does Android provide any tool(s) that would help developers translate the strings (may be to convert from xml to xliff format or some other format that translators generally use)? The 'Internationalization and Localization' part in developer.android.com still has a stub ("coming soon"). I'd really appreciate if someone could throw some light on this.

Pls look at this pix, and tell me what can be wrong with this keyboard.
In my settings these are the steps:
Settings>Locale & text >Samsung keyboard, that's all I have, no other Keyboard available, am I missing something or what?
Both handset uses same android version. 95% of the applications are same.
HTC receive more wifi ID which samsung i7500 does not.
