Whats using so much ram and external sd card memory? Internal memory has little space utilized. Is there a way to control this? A larger SD card maybe more ram

I was just uploading music and photos to my Vibrant with DoubleTwist and I don't know what happened that now the phone says...
Can not mount external SD card...
I can't see any of the music or photos that I was uploading.
I did reset the phone and keeps doing it.
Prior to installing the external card - the folders app showed /sd. Which I assumed was the internal one. Then I insert the external one, reboot the phone, and tehre is no additional directory in the folder view. Why is this? Secondly, its a 16GB card. Its reported as 14.58GB. The format option is greyed out. Is it automatically mounted at power on? Ideally I want to know where I install things to know that they are on the external card.
View 15 Replies View Relatedi was avaible to swap pictures, music and everything between the 2...but now i took out my memory card from my old hd2 and put it in(hence its 16gb, and i didnt even use my hd2 for a day it was given to me so it has nothing crazy on it) and now when i plug in my vibrant, it dosent read the card for some reason, removable drive pops up, but it wont access it, i also saw this happen with someone elses vibrant, any advice?...and oh yea, i do press mount on the usb thing on the vibrant screen.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs I did some research I found out, and correct me if I am wrong, that most of the applications that we download on the Droid go against the internal memory, and that the applications are not being loaded onto the memory card. I move to the Droid from Blackberry for this sole reason, thinking the Droid had it the opposite way, that the applications were being loaded on the memory card, and not the internal memory. This concept of loading the programs onto the internal memory, was putting a hurt on my Blackberry, where I had to give up programs in order for it to run faster. I am now concerned after finding out that the Droid has the same concept, that this will eventually happen with my Droid, and that I may have to give up programs for it to run fater as well. If this is true to what I am saying, that the applications are on the internal memory and eating away on it, then I am hoping someone would develop a program where as we can take our progams and move them over to the memory card so that it will free up the internal memory, other wise I am off to seek aphone that runs windows, I do belive they do have this concept that I want. I should have done my homework!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread some time back but got no response.
This is what my file permission looks like.
I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.
I dont understand, i put in a new sd card with 16 gigs and my vibrant wont read it for some reason, but it does read the 2 gig one?

1. Editing Vold.Fstab file, but it's impossible because it will not show internal Mount Point.
2. Searched on Play Store and downloaded "External 2 Internal" app and i have installed it, then i have swapped memory, but internal and external shows same values...
3. Downloaded "Link2SD" app and i have created a Ext2 partition on my SD Card... but nothing (shows my memory is emulated)...
I will increase my internal memory because i must download games...
I just noticed something in my Vibrant sd card file called "Lazy List".I have no idea where it came from and haven't noticed it before, but it can be found in both my 01 file, and my Astro file, and consists of a bunch of random thumbnails that when clicked on show a lot of gibberish writing. I am afraid to delete this file since I don't know what purpose it serves. I have never downloaded anything called that, nor have I ever seen any of the thumbnails before.Does anyone know anything about this "Lazy List"?

If a phone needs to be replaced, what good is it to have the backup internally? I know I can copy the TitaniumBackup folder to my external SD card along with its files, but can it be done automagically as a program option during the backup?

Well I'm having the same problem with my new B2...The phone is disconnecting and connecting on its own consistantly. And it keeps sending me notifications. I've tried 3 different SD cards all with the same result. Eventually it will erase all card data and tell me the card is damaged. Anyone else with this problem? Should I go with the G1 or Mytouch?

Does it help the SGS speed if you leave most of the internal memory free (only using it for apps) and use the external card for all your files?
Or does it just provide an opportunity to go crazy with storing files, like an entire season of a TV show for instance?
All that being said... yes I did spring for an 8GB SD card but is it money well spent... who knows.
I read that people moved Avatar from the microSD card to the internal memory so they can put in their 8GB microSD. How was this done?

I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using an external sd card on my Samsung GT-P3110 and using Android V 4.1.1. For some reason the various apps no longer see the folders and music files that are on the card.
I can still see the files when I attach the card to my PC using Win7 and I can add or delete without issues. Apps that are no longer seeing the files include n7player and ES File Explorer. This is only a recent development. For the first five months I did not have any problems with this.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, with a 64GB Micro SD card. I would like to play back videos I have stored on my SD card; however none of the videoplayers I've tried will do it - they all say the file cannot be played. The videos all play fine when stored locally, so I know there is no issue with the files themselves or the transfer process of getting them onto the SD card. Currently, if I want to watch a video, I have to use the My Files app to navigate to the file on the SD card and move it to the internal storage. This works, but its clunky and not very nice. Is this a bug feature of 4.2.2, or of my handset in general?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it's my phone or what but when I look up the Other Usage on my phone, it shows it "Running" more than 2/3 of the time.And on Network Usage, "Android System" and "Media" use a great deal of the phone as well.I think this might have to do with my "android.process.acore" crashing every once in a while when it's asleep. Based on everyone's feedback I might have to return the Moment for a third time.
