Oct 22, 2010I just got a samsung vibrant and i went to charge it today and it shut off. took if off the charger and it turns back on. Does anyone know what the problem is?

But all I get is an option to mount the SD card as a drive to copy files. It doesn't seem to be able to charge the phone. Do I need a special cable, or maybe a second charger from T-Mobile? I had always charged my old MP3 player with USB, so I figured the phone could do the same thing.

Sep 5, 2010I could swear that I've seen a forum for this somewhere around here, but after 30 minutes of searching, I can't find it. What I'd like to do is completely disable any notifications showing that the charge is complete. Reason being, I use Bedside and at roughly 2am the notification closes bedside and lights my screen up until I acknowledge it. Then I have to close it, re-open bedside and I'm back in business. Anybody know a way to just turn that notification off all together?

What I use this for is I may be listening to a Netflix or HBO GO movie (yes I know, "listening") and I want the phone to shutoff after 30 minutes.
I was having a hard time finding any app that does this. Google searches just showed me results of shutdown problems, and the apps I came across were to reboot the phone.
Samsung Captivate :: Updated To Froyo - Now Phone Shuts Off At Random
Oct 29, 2010I upgraded my Captivate to 2.2 two weeks ago and ever since the phone will shut itself off without making a sound (screen just goes black like the battery was pulled out) randomly. I do notice it never does it if the charger is plugged in.
I also am having a problem with txting. Sometimes when I am replying to a txt to one person, it will sent the message to a random person in my contacts instead of the person I intended to send the txt to.
Lastly, when I take a pic with the camera or download a pic from a txt, it takes awhile for it to show up in my gallery...
None of these things were happening when it was still running 2.1.
Samsung Epic 4G :: Force Closes - Phone Freaks Out And Shuts The Screen Off
Nov 9, 2010Everytime i reboot my phone, I get bunch of problems with my phone. when I try to open the phone dialer I get a force close on com.google.process.acore. Sometimes it completely prevents me from using the phone.
Then on occasion the phone freaks out and shuts the screen off, but leaves the navigation lights on the bottom of the phone. At that point the phone is completely unusable for about 1-2minutes. Sometimes when it comes back on, it starts rerunning the media scanner.

Oct 29, 2010Well i tried out a rom (backed up first) didnt like it. so i restored my backup and now my phone is stuck on the vibrant logo. the tmobile ding plays but nothing. and for some reason my phone wont go into download mode and ADB wont work on my pc. it comes up and disappears rapidly. it open in cmd prompt but nothing.

May 7, 2010My mother has the Sprint Moment, and for the past couple days her battery has not been working properly...she keeps her phone plugged in, however her phone does not charge. The battery remains below 15%. Today she even went to Sprint and got a new battery, but the problem persists.

Aug 3, 2010It pops a message saying it's full, unplug. So I try doing it every morning before going to work, but that's not enough time to charge it completely. So I end up charging it partially at home and then finish charging it in the car. So when it's impossible to charge it fully in one charging session (which I assume is the best way to charge for the health of the battery), should I over charge or should I keep interrupting the battery's normal usage with multiple short charges?

Samsung Moment :: Screen Shuts Off
Mar 26, 2010Have been having this problem for the Moment for a while now. Once a call is placed the phone will go black and I am unable to access the onscreen functions (Speaker, Dialpad, etc). I've tried tapping the screen, hitting the back button and hitting the menu button, but the screen remains black. At some point it MAY come on or just briefly flash on. This has been very annoying - especially with calls that require multiple prompts.

Sep 5, 2010I recently rooted a 2.2 stock phone, using the XDA method (clockwork). Everything seems to work fine, except for two things: BIG THING: Whenever I try to use the GPS function on my phone the phone just shuts off and restarts. (this is when I use the GPS satellites function. NOT when I use the "use wireless networks" setting under the Location sub-section of settings) When I turn on GPS and try to get "my location" in google maps. It restarts. When I use Yelp it turns off.
SMALL thing: The wifi tether is decent but it often stops working (I used the google one). I.e. The computer that's connected to the wireless network either gets disconnected, or it thinks it's disconnected but the internet just doesn't work. At this point, I just simply shut the tether on and off. But it's slightly inconvenient. Is this an issue other people are having?

Sep 24, 2010Ok, so I may be leaving the USA soon. I plan on unlocking my phone and going out of the country with it. I don't know how long I may be gone.maybe years, so here are a few questions.
1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.

Aug 9, 2010Encountered a wierd issue with my Samsung Moment this weekend. I would click on my browser icon (Google is bookmarked as my home page) the google page would load, start "acquiring my location" and then automatically shut down my browser. So I went through the Sprint help desk for several hours with no answer and no fix. I changed my home page to something other than Google and now my browser seems to work just fine. But everytime I go to the google webpage, like I'm doing a google search it shuts down the browser. Flipping weird! Another heads up. if I use my Google searchwidget, it seems to work just fine.
