View 49 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying that I will be purchasing an EPIC 4G on release day (whenever that may be) no matter when it is Now to my point, the lack of information and outright secrecy being employed by Sprint regarding the release of the EPIC 4G is downright moronic and piss-poor marketing. I know that some mindless idiots will say "oh see, see.... the fact that you are talking about the EPIC proves their strategy is working!" Well, I say BOLLOCKS! his isn't creating hype or excitement, all this is doing is pissing people off and causing Sprint to lose more and more potential new customers to VZW and ATT. I mean, there are some powerhouse devices (Droid 2, BB Torch, iPhone 4) that are going to be readily available apparently before we will even know for sure when the EPIC will even be released! If Sprint wants/expects people to wait for an EPIC, then they need to tell us when it will actually be available.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThought it would be best to create a single thread that has a list of all the fixes we have got for the moment so people don't continue to say it is "broken" (note all fixes including using zefs 8.3 kernel and modification of the CL14 OS/modem file): 1) Network Location works great now (it might put you a little away from your "actual" location (by a couple hundred feet maybe) but it still puts you almost were you are really located, and since we use this for "general approximation" of location (gps is the only way to get a reliable location fix) i will say it is working 100% (note this is with gps and wifi turned off. so we know it is actually fixed) 2) Optimization of the kernel allows it to actually use the processing power of the S3C6410 Chipset instead of using generic drivers. this means it is actually meant for the phone and works much faster. 3) Battery meter has been optimized to give 5% reporting levels and adjusted to semi-accurately monitor battery against known calibration curve of the battery (based off of Behold II battery code which uses the same battery). No longer drops you to 15% within 2 hours and turns off most functionality. 4) e911 in pattern lock mode now pulls up a dialer that only allows you to call 911 instead of automatically calling the minute you hit the button 5) reports of pandora/slacker/other streaming programs not having the same stutter starts. 6) keyboard lag has gotta incredibly better.

But there has to be an update for google maps by now.We are at 3.1.2 i think.When i search for google maps in the market, i get everything but google maps.I was trying to get infinity web browser as well, and this never shows up for me. But it is in the market.Just as Google's website says that google maps is on the market, and they dont offer a download.So, is sprint/Samsung blocking stuff in the market? do we have our own special market or something? I'm not seeing to many apps that say "must have root access" either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a replacement yesterday for my phone since my old one would not connect to GPS. All was fine, I rooted and installed Radioactive FroYo 1.8.9 (or what ever the newest is) plug my phone in at 11pm, wake up at 8am and my phone wasn't fully charged. I unplugged it and checked my email which only took a minute and it dropped to about 50%. WTF I thought, so I plug it into my laptop and it detected it, then I unplugged it, then I plugged it in again and nothing happened, wiggled the cord around and it would go in and out of being connected to the computer. So this phone has a bad USB or something, which would explain why a couple times last night I heard the single chime coming from my phone. So now I have to reflash my phone and have Sprint order me another phone.

Just curious why we haven't heard of anything new down the pipeline with new android phones? supersonic seem to die...now that we are getting the HTC legend which looks pretty nice! But not to happy with 600mhz processor...So I was wondering was up! Not that I care cause I'm not due till next January...but looking forward to the future in Android with Sprint!

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!
In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.
There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?
If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!
Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.
I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.
The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!
I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!
The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.
Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.
The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?
Just want to know which cell phones are good for android. Have a task of sending an sms at the moment, so can anyone help?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am facing a problem with Bluetooth Headset and KeyCharacter Mapping. When I press play/pause button from Samsung sbh-, its not getting reflected in Phone. I traced and came to know that, normally scan code of 164, keycode of 85 is formed when i press Headset play/pause. And PhoneWindow manager will intercept this and send ACTION_MEDIA_BUTTON if keycode =85 (KeyEvent.KEYCODE_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE). But keycode that I'm getting is 0 even when i press headset play/pause in PhoneWindow Manager. Even in KeyInputQueue, the keycode that is obtained is 0. Does anybody when keycode gets generated?

What I'd like to be able to do ideally is have Eclipse pop up a dialog box that lets me specify the name of the resource and the value for it. Then Eclipse would generate the code in strings.xml and paste the correct reference to the string at the cursor position.
